Beech Nut is a hit and miss baby food brand for me. I have purchased many of the various baby products that they make, the oatmeal cereal being one of them. I was expecting it to be of the same quality as Gerber's Oatmeal, seeing as it was a little more expensive. However it wasn't, I didn't like the thickness or consistency of the oatmeal once mixed up. As I mentioned before the price was a little higher than Gerber. Not by much, but a little. I didn't really notice a huge difference in the ingredients that were listed on the box, they might of just been a different quality which caused the consistency and thickness differences. I'm not saying that Beech Nut Oatmeal cereal is a bad baby cereal, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I would buy it if it was on sale but I would much rather use Gerber. Quality of Ingredients The ingredients are just about the same as the ones that are in the other leading brands of baby oatmeal. However something about the ones in Beech Nut made it not come out the same as other brands, which makes me think that maybe the quality is different.

The perfect first food!

Beech-Nut Oatmeal cereal is a MUST in any pantry of a family with a young baby! This was the first food my second child ingested. I learned my lesson with my first child that rice cereal is extremely constipating. Oatmeal does not bind like rice does, and it is a good transition to solid food for a child who has been fed nothing but breast milk. This oatmeal cereal dissolves instantly in breast milk. It is very easy to alter the consistency of the cereal by adjusting the ratio of powder to liquid. I also added this oatmeal cereal to store-bought or hand-made baby food that was entirely too drippy to serve on a spoon. It thickened it up slightly without affecting the taste of the vegetable or fruit mixture. The packaging of Beech-nut oatmeal cereal is well made and the pour spout is convenient for adding right to a small dish. It does make a little bit of a mess due to the light-weight quality of the flakes, but this is to be expected.

Fast easy and loved

My son has issues sleeping at night and has since he spent the first 70 days in the hospital being held and super spoiled by all his nurses as well as us. I started adding this oatmeal to his bedtime bottle using a bigger nipple. It helped him stay full through the night and also made him super full so he was able to fall asleep easier. It was a big help! Beech nut oatmeal mixes in easily not leaving clumps. A great product.

My song loves it

My son loves this oatmeal in his bottle. Usually other products give him gas. But, not this one. When he turned four months I wanted to start him on baby food and solids. I mix this with his regular formula and it's fine for his sensitive stomach. We have no problems. The oatmeal does get a little clumped up bet then I shake it and walah. I love beech nut products because they're natural and made with gentle ingredients. Love how they're don't hurt my little guys stomach and make it upset. I'm not to fond of the box it comes in though. Simply because I like plastic containers better. But, the box is okay though. Before I got the cereal I read the ingredients on the back and they seemed like healthy start for my little guy.I buy baby food for my son through beech nut to and they really live up to they're name.I will continue buying beech nut products. Quality of Ingredients All healthy natural ingredients. Safety Very safe just shake or mix.

Love the container!

Beachnut Oatmeal baby cereal was great for my baby boy. I started with a different brand and the package would not seal up after it was opened. The container Beachnut cereal comes in is perfect for keeping baby's food fresh for a longer period of time. We don't leave our food out in the open, why should we leave baby's out? My son loved the taste of the oatmeal and it was a snap to quickly whip up for a starving baby emergency. It can be made with water, milk, formula or even juice. My son usually had some for lunch with a mashed up banana. It was easy on his stomach and never constipated him like some other cereals sometimes do to very young babies. The price was a little more than the "non-sealing" brands, but it is well worth it extra cost in my opinion. My son is now one year old and past the age of baby food, he is eating all table food now. But I know I will use Beachnut Oatmeal Cereal again for any future children we may have.

Very convenient

I love this product! I keep it right in the pantry, ready to add to baby's fruit or vegetables. It dissolves instantly, never clumpy. It's got all the vitamins and minerals that baby needs, which is great. What stands out to me is the packaging. I love the screw top, easy-pour spout. It keeps my kitchen neater because if it takes a tumble, I'm not cleaning up oatmeal debris. And even better, the square shape makes it nice and neat for storage. I bought five of these when they were on sale, and I loved that I could store them efficiently, which is hard with round canisters. I'd prefer that all baby food products were in squares, actually, which seems like a quirky request, but I'm sold on this design after trying this product. My baby started with the rice and loved it, and now we do oatmeal. I'm almost out of my stock-pile, and I'll be heading to the store to buy this same product again. Very pleased!

nice container

I bought this product because of it container. This is such a wise design. The box is cardboard and has a plastic pour out maker. No more messy pour out of cereals and also the cap can avoid cereal getting wet with the moist weather. We used to use another brand of cereal and it is painfull pulling out and push back the cardboard. Also cereal get wet because there is no way to keep it sealed with their container design. We totally shifted to this brand after I discovered the container design. Really wise choice. The cereal quailty is as good as the others. Our baby loves it. It is full of the nutrients. It taste smooth and plain. Price is reasonable as well. Overall, it is a great choice for moms who are about to feed their baby with first taste of solids. I wish there is an organic version of this product so that we have more choices to go organic. I highly recommend this to the other parents

beech-nut oatmeal cereal is great!

This cereal is awesome. My daughter loves this ceral! I was worried I was going to have to mix fruit in with it to get her to eat her grains, but no worries--she loves it! Also, the container is so easy and convenient and doesn't make a huge mess like some of the boxes did. The boxes made such a mess we finally had to pour the whole container out into another container we could spoon amounts out of, but this container pours easily and the spout is such that the ceral doesn't get stuck. This cereal is really inexpensive and if you sign up on the beech-nut website you can give get free cereal coupons which makes it even cheaper! It's a sinch to prepare and the texture is really smooth-not clumpy like some of the other brands. Another benefit is that it does not stain clothes (or bibs) if it gets on them while feeding or is spit up a little bit later. This is really nice since baby clothes are expensive and you want to keep them for other children to use. Overall this product is GREAT and i would highly recommend it.

Perfect Container!!!

I love Beechnut products!!! I only use Beechnut Cereal for my 7 month old. The package is perfect! Unlike Gerber, this container is easy to use and has a twist on lid so I don't have to put it in another container to prevent ants and other bugs from getting in. It's easy to travel with and all together much better. Also, WIC supports it! Can't get any better than that!!!

Better tasting oatmeal cereal for my baby

5

My son is now a little over 12 months and he started cereal when he was 4-1/2 months old.  We had started with rice but that really wasn't good because he was constipated.  I had read to try oatmeal and he didn't like the Gerber stuff.  So I found the Beechnut and he loves it!  It has a different taste than the Gerber stuff and he eats it still at over a year old! Also, I love the packaging of this product.  How smart to put a resealable cover because then the cereal won't fall out at all!  And the price can't be beat!
