Behr is There!

Behr Premium Plus Interior Eggshell Enamel paint is very much a worthwhile investment for your home improvement projects! We bought this paint when we repainted our children's tv room three years ago. It is still very good looking. It looks like it was painted three months ago instead of three years ago. We are very satisfied with this product! I have always loved and trusted Behr brand premium paints and they have never once let me down. It is easy enough for a beginner to apply, it goes on smooth and looks great. It is a very durable paint as well. Three years later with multiple children and animals and this paint has not chipped at all! I am ecstatic with the turnout of this paint in my children's tv room! They love that it brightens up the room, and I love that it does not need to be reapplied again and again as is the case with some paints. You will surely be satisfied if you purchase this paint!

This stuff worked well for me but magic eraser brings it off.

I am a fan of this paint. I got great coverage with it, the durability to scrubbing held up fine, the color was bright, and it wasn't too terrible smelling when I was painting the living room and kitchen. The trouble I had with this paint is that it requires a bit of cleaning because it is white and I made the mistake of using a magic eraser on it. The magic eraser actually brought the paint off of the wall. I've used bleach and even a scrub brush on this before without any incident so imagine my surprise when I saw that the magic erasers were bringing my hard work off the walls. Quality I like the color of this because it is bright without being too white. The paint went on smoothly and evenly too. Durability It held up to a wash cloth, bleach, sponges, and even mild cleaning with soap and water but when I used a magic eraser on it, the color came off the wall and I had a bucket of white paint water. I was surprised. Coverage I put this on over white paint and it covered everything just fine. Ease of Appliation It was easy to apply. I only covered light and white colors so it went on easy.

Pleasantly Surprised

Last year I decided to paint my very dark green room a light pink instead. My dad was pissed when I asked him to help because going from such a dark color to a light color usually requires a few coats after a base coat. A coworker recommended this paint to me and I'm glad he did. The house is pretty old so the walls are not the smoothest but the eggshell covered any blemishes up nicely. After one coat it looked pretty nice, just a little bit darker than I was expecting. With a second coat it looked perfect, even without a base coat of white or primer first! The only negative at the time was that it took quite a bit of paint on each roller so I wound up having to buy more than I first calculated. After a year the color still looks great, it hasn't faded and it due to the eggshell finish you don't see any dirt or anything. The only thing I'm noticing now is that it does have a tendency to chip when I add or remove decorations from my wall which is pretty disappointing, but for the price I paid for this paint (lower than most quality paints) I was very happy with the job it did.

Recommended by Consumer Reports

Before painting my living room & family room, I checked to see what kind of paint Consumer Reports recommended. Behr paint was highly rated, so I went to Home Depot and purchased Behr Premium Plus Interior Eggshell Enamel. At that time, I covered a yellowish-gold color with two coats of Behr Premium Plus Interior Eggshell Enamel. It covered well at the time, washed well, & lasted for several years. Seven years ago, I decided to paint pretty much the entire interior of my home. I again chose Behr Premium Plus Interior Eggshell Enamel in several different colors. It covered whitish walls with a 3/8" roller in two coats. We allowed it one day to dry in between coats. I knew that it's generally recommended to allow paint one month to dry. My "helper" however, went ahead & hung pictures over the freshly painted walls about 24 hours later. Some of the paint pulled away when I readjusted some of the pictures, so I did have to do some touching up. I allowed those areas 2-3 weeks to dry before replacing the pictures & haven't had any problems with the paint job since. I've been very pleased with Behr paints. The Behr painted walls have washed easily. I haven't noticed any chipping or wearing, unlike another store brand that I used in the kitchen. I'm seeing white streaks through the kitchen store brand paint I used seven years ago, but nothing like that in the Behr painted walls. It's been seven years & the Behr paint job continues to look good, although I am thinking about a different color now. I highly recommend Behr paint. Durability I recommend letting walls dry 3-4 weeks before hanging pictures after painting.

Not as good as previous formulas

My husband and I bought a fixer-upper home in 2009 and over the course of several months painted every single wall in the house. We used Behr Premium Plus interior in Eggshell finish for nearly every room except the bathroom. We were loyal to the brand because it had excellent coverage, was the perfect consistency without having clumps/clots, and went a long way to covering the walls in a room in a single can. Several years into our ownership of the home, we decided to repaint several rooms - a living space that was over 1000 square feet and a bedroom. In 2011, we purchased two gallons of Behr Premium Plus to paint the bedroom, and the formula has definitely changed. The consistency is much thinner and the coverage is not nearly as good as it was. As a matter of fact, we were convinced that we had purchased the wrong paint or that the technician had made a mistake during the mixing process and we attempted to return the second gallon, only to be told that it was the correct paint and that "they had made some improvements". Sorry, no. The new paint formula leaves much to be desired and we have since switched to Sherwin Williams paint - we pay a little more but the coverage is much better.

Did not live up to the CR ratings.

Sorry to be negative, but this was the worst paint we ever used. Bought it because of the Consumer Reports high praise, but found the paint to be very difficult to use. It did not spread smoothly, and did not cover. We were covering a light aqua wall with off white. There was nothing to like about this paint. In fact, it was so bad, that we gave up after battling with one wall, and went back to the store and bought Glidden paint. This paint was thick and creamy and went on so smoothly. It only took one coat. Sorry, but cannot recommend Behr paint. Will never ever buy it again. Quality This paint did not go on smoothly, as you would want. Durability Hard to comment on this, since we painted over it right away. Coverage Did not flow nicely. Did not cover even a light color. Ease of Appliation Here is the worst characteristic of this paint. It did not flow.

Not a bad deal for the money, but get the primer/enamel combo

We bought several different colors, types (sheens), and sizes. We like a color from a more expensive brand. The color match was perfect as far as I can see and we had to return for a second gallon once. We had the most favorable results with the primer and enamel combo paint. It costs a bit more but saves you a step, esp if you have to paint over a dark color or fresh drywall.   The odor is a down fall and if you are sensitive to paints or their fumes, you should make sure to paint on a cool breezy day as I was ill twice (from painting several areas at a time). When I painted a smaller area, I didn't notice any trouble with the fumes. Dries fairly quickly and evenly. The ceiling paint hides flaws well and is easy to apply, just ensure to use a large pole in order not to strain your back.   The biggest downfall is where they sell this product (H. Depot) in which the sales people are not knowledgable. They can be slow and give you another customers paint if they are in a rush, so I guess that must be where the savings is.

One coat that really means one coat

Recently did a bathroom remodel and had a tough time choosing the solution on how to cover a deep burgundy semi-gloss finish that had old wall border glue stains coming through. Went to the depot to look for paint samples, and saw a display for the Behr premium plus paints that advertised primer + paint, covers anything.  Talked to the paint mixer associate about my issues and that was what they recommended.  Was a little concerned due to the price per gallon, but when I thought about the alternatives, Killz + 10 coats of what ever, I decided to give it a chance. When home and primed the walls (lightly sanded them to try to knock off the semi-gloss finish and the glue stains)  Just wanted to ensure a good bond. I then cut in, and rolled the walls with a 3/8 nap roller and two my surprise, I was amazed.  i did go back and apply a second coat, just because every once and awhile, you could see spots where the roller didn't apply the paint (normal).  I couldn't detect any color distortion from the underlying burgundy to a light Taupe color. So I spent a few extra bucks, but saved money on not having to use rollers for the primer and all of that cleanup.

BEHR Deep Base Interior Enamel Paint Provides Excellent Coverage

4

I recently decided to paint my kitchen a shade of red.  I chose a color called Arabian Red.  I chose to buy BEHR paint from Home Depot because it is a brand that I trust and have had wonderful success using.  I purchased BEHR Interior Eggshell Enamel Deep Base paint.  Since my walls were white, I first used a tinted primer as a base coat and then applied one coat of the paint.  The coverage was excellent with just the first coat.  However, I decided to apply a second coat to make sure the coverage was even.  Although the directions indicate the dry time is two hours and re-coat time is four hours, I waited a week between each application so the walls had more time to cure.  This paint goes on very smoothly with minimal splattering and a fairly mild smell.  For the low price, the choice to paint a room and give it such a dramatic change is well worth the investment.  It took less than a gallon to complete my kitchen and it looks wonderful!
