I got this for my boyfriend last year for Christmas. Not long after we started using it the part that is attached to the lid that lies on top of the filter broke. Every time we pour a cup of coffee if spills everywhere, also the plate that the pot sits on is rusted. I am not an expert on how long coffee pots should last, but I would hope more than 1 yr. I am going to purchase another coffee pot for him this Christmas, but it won't be this one. I really like the preset time on it. I like the ease of cleaning it. Just not at all durable. Broken and rusted in one year. My old coffee maker died and I wanted to replace it with something simple. This Black & Decker is very streamlined and very good looking. You hit a button & it brews a pot of coffee. If you wish, it is programmable. But that is also very uncomplicated. The pot is terrific. My last pot always dripped when you poured it. This one doesn't. It is also very inexpensive. I've very happy my "Mr. Coffee" maker died so I could buy this Black & Decker.

We have this coffee pot, and while it brews and heats the coffee just fine, you cannot use the 'pot' part with out spilling everwhere! When you go to put water in the back, water dumps out the side of the pot When you go to pour a cup of coffee, the coffee will spill and go everywhere! It makes a huge mess every morning, we have to pour each cup over the sink so it doesnt leak everywhere. And it is not just operator error, everyone who has tried to pour a cup of coffee at our house has this issue. As soon as we find a good deal on something better, we will be getting rid of this one! Brew Performance It makes coffee just fine. Ease of Use Cannot use it with out it spilling everywhere. The spout is poorly designed.

Great value for the money, and it gets the job done. Brew Performance I'm not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but I know that this coffee maker is an easy-to-use appliance that is extremely affordable and gets the job done. I need my caffeine in the morning and don't need the bells and whistles of some of the coffee makers out there. The coffee tastes great, and it brews quickly. Ease of Cleaning I get coffee grounds all over the maker (my 21-month-old insists on helping me scoop), and I can clean it all up fairly easily. No little pockets or hard-to-reach places. I also put the carafe in the dishwasher, and it gets very clean. Ease of Use Super easy! No confusing buttons, and automatic shut-off. Design It's a little big, but that's probably due to it's being a 12-cup maker. The design is user-friendly. Durability It seems sturdy enough. I've had it for about 1.5-2 months, and it's working fine. The sticker over the buttons on the bottom is coming off a little bit, but it's nothing a dot of super-glue won't fix. What do you expect for an inexpensive product?

When we went looking for a new coffeemaker our main goal was a programmable one since my husband had to be up so early for work and really liked his coffee first thing. We were delighted to find it had the washable filter basket and more delighted to find the water filter! And all the settings were easy to figure out how to set and use, another big plus. We have used the Black & Decker Coffeemaker for over a year now and we too have found our washable basket to be really stained....but then coffee stains! But the taste of the coffee has changed using it, we have started back using paper filters. I have to admit until reading some of the other reviews on here I had forgotten about the water filter down inside the coffeemaker, so I have now cleaned it out. We love the connivance of setting the machine up at night and just pushing our preset brew time. It is a great coffeemaker. *One other feature we really love is the small pot brew feature, since my husband is the only coffee drinker in the house. In the winter he brews a full pot to fill a thermos for work, but on warm days he just wants a couple of cups for himself in the mornings, so this is a great feature for him.*

This has been a good coffee maker for us ever since we received it as a gift over a year ago. It makes a good and hot pot of coffee in a relatively short amount of time. The warming burner keeps the coffee nice and hot without burning the cofffee and the maker is easy to use and clean. We've had several user errors with being sleep-deprived parents using this maker but it has held up great whether we forget the coffee, the water, or the pot when starting the maker. I have found that the buttons are a bit too easy to bump because they are right in front and low on the maker. A lot of times just putting your coffee mug on the counter to fill it up, I will find that I have hit some button on the coffee maker. Fortunately it is usually just a button to adjust the time. This coffee maker has many nice features. A light that tells you when it's time for the coffee maker to be cleaned and also a nice bright clock and the coffee maker is programmable as well.

    We love our Black and Decker Coffee maker. It's been very dependable and the clock seems to stay on when we have a flicker in electrical service, better than our last coffee maker did. It is easy to operate and we can fill it and set the timer to when we want the coffee. It's great to wake up to the smell of coffee brewing in the morning.     This machine has a glass twelve cup caraffe, which is nice for seeing how close it is to being full. The fill set up is straightforward. It uses paper filters or you can buy a permanent one.      It also has a digital panel with a one button on-off format. The panel is a light gray on the black machine. The buttons are a slightly darker gray oval on the lighter gray background.The only thing we kind of had to get used to was how hard it is to see the little green light indicating that the coffee maker is on.     The timer is an easy two button operation and a small dot shows at the right of the clock when the timer is set.     The machine shuts off automatically after two hours.

When our old coffee maker broke down, we purchased a new Black & Decker 12 cup programmable coffee maker. This one is a lot better than I thought it would initially be. The coffee pot seems to be sturdy and, so far, hasn't come close to breaking - this was a big concern given the price of replacing a pot. The machine is easy to program and operate. We rarely use the programming feature, so I can't say as to whether that part breaks early on. This coffee maker came with a water filter that doesn't really last too long. You have to replace it every couple of months if you want to keep a clean one in there. After spending a lot of money replacing filters, we decided to go without it. The coffee tastes fine. It probably depends upon the quality of your water to begin with. When we run out of paper filters, we have a backup - a washable filter basket that came with the coffee maker. We use it a lot. This has been a dependable coffee maker and we would likely purchase it again, given the opportunity.

We got our Black & Decker Programmable Coffee Maker quite a few years ago. It was made up real well and took a lot of abuse as we used it daily actually several times a day. It actually still works quite well but we don't use it anymore. I just have it stored away in a cabinet as a backup coffee maker just in case something happens to our new one we got. We use our new coffee maker several times also. So far so good but if something does happen to our new coffee maker, We always have old faithful ( Black & Decker ) coffee maker to really on. My real only complaint about the Mr Coffee Coffee maker would be the coffee pot. It is very thin glass although it has held up to daily use. And the fact when ever we go to pour a cup of coffee the coffee seems to pour everywhere except in the cup where it belongs. So we were constantly having to wipe up spilled coffee off the counter or table which is a real pain!
