I love it that you can make appts. with a doctor asap and on the day of the appointment the wating time is short, but copays are ridiculous every time you go especially if there is a need for you to see a specific doctor. I know health is important but stop the copay madness.

Blue Cross Blue Shield doesn't care about their insured!!

1

Blue Cross Blue Shield federal employee insurance doesn't care about it's insured!! Mom has multiple sclerosis and ehlers danlos syndrome. With both of those diseases she is constantly in a lot of pain due to issues with her back. She has had a discectomy, an operation to fix a herniated disk, and was told that eventually she will need to have her entire spine fused. Well a pain specialist recently put a light at the end of the tunnel. He told mom about a device, a spinal cord stimulator, that would be implanted internally to her spine and would override the pain sensors in her brain with pleasurable sensations or even no feeling! It was perfect! Mom was told this would be beneficial for her by her primary care physician, her neurologist, and her surgeon. They were excited that she would finally receive relief from her unending back pain. The pain specialist, Zion Pain Management, went through all the paperwork and found that the insurance required no prior approval for this procedure. With that in mind the doctors went ahead with the trial. It worked wonderfully! Mom had energy and was able to walk, sit, sleep, move, live without pain! But then Blue Cross said that they had not given authorization for the surgery so they were not going to pay for it. Then they claimed that this surgery was not medically necessary. They told the surgeon that he would need to cover the cost for the trial himself and that they would not pay for the permanent procedure. Because of that the surgeons would not move forward with the permanent procedure. Mom and all of her doctors have worked to overturn their verdict for over two months. Today though, Blue cross told mom that this surgery was not medically necessary because she was not in enough pain to warrant this type of surgery. She had not been on opioids long enough and had not proven that surgeey was needed. Who do they think they are?! They are using their own quack of a "professional" who from looking at a sheet of paper on a de

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa

I've been with BC/BS of Iowa since the early 2000's. Until last month, I thought they were the best and most outstanding insurance company I could imagine. Always polite, always easy to contact, and most often the easiest to call when I had questions about why I was paying for "this or that", Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa put many a worry to rest. That all changed about a month or two ago. It seems that 2018 is bringing with it new rules from the top down and its spreading to the Insurance companies. Since Blue Cross of Iowa rid itself of their customer feedback, I have found speaking with their representatives, which used to be a pleasure, to be difficult and often confusing. I'm paying an exorbitant due. The least the company of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Iowa can offer is a customer service staff of representatives willing to be friendly and patient. Instead, the market place of insurance is being turned on its head. Why? One reason I believe is due to Insurance companies believing that everyone must have insurance. They don't need to be polite. They know they'll get you in the end, no matter what. Why? Because... it's now demanded you MUST have insurance. When companies no longer have to compete for customer satisfaction, of course those companies are not going to try as hard. After all, it's not us, the average person they're competing against. It's the other insurance companies. It will be the last few surviving. Overall, I will still have to recommend my insurance company for the simple reason that I still get the answers I need. I may have to spend more time and effort to get those answers, but it's my money. They still work for me. I think these insurance companies forget that. It seems, as I was speaking to a new representative earlier this week, that he was doing me a favor. Perhaps that's why the company removed their feedback. After a two decades of 5's for outstanding, this year would be 3'.

The Worst Insurance Company of All Time

1

I have had Aetna, Metlife, United Health Group, and Blue Cross, and blue cross is BY FAR the WORST insurance company I have ever had to interact with. Everything they do is inefficient and terrible. Every time I call the wait is over an hour, only to be transferred or connect somewhere else, that also has an hour long wait. THIS IS A TERRIBLE USE OF CUSTOMER'S TIME AND LEAVES A MOUNTAIN OF UNRESOLVED ISSUES. If the company were efficient in the first place, I wouldn't have to waste my time calling.

NEVER USE BCBS!

1

I've been with Florida blue for several years now and I've had nothing but trouble. I constantly get hung up on or put on hold for hours and hours, the pre auths take forever and they don't even reimburse you, (I've tried on 3 different occasions costing me upwards of $1000) now they switched to using only walgreens or Wal-Mart as my pharmacy choice. if I had known the change, I would have used a different insurance provider not to mention my medication isn't offered at either pharmacy so now I'm stuck paying not only my premium but my Rx out of pocket. I called today to make an appeal only to be put on hold to no end. I hung up after several hours. I can continue with the horrors of this company but I'll just say this: please do you yourself a favor and nvr use BCBS. please spread the word.

Worst customer service

1

I called the various customer service phone numbers attempting to get an authorization form sent to my physician. None of the automated choices fit my needs (even at the phone number for preauthoriaztion) and it was nearly impossible to speak to a human. Finally, a representative in billing was able to connect me to the correct department. I then remained on hold nearly two hours. BCBS needs to hire a reasonable amount of people to serve the customers paying their prmiums.

Dental Customer Service is HORRIBLE

1

EVERY TIME I CALL BCBS I HAVE TO REPEAT MYSELF MORE THAN TWICE TO THE REPS. THEY ARE FOREIGN SO I DONT KNOW IF THEY CAN UNDERSTAND ENGLISH THAT WELL OR EVEN AT ALL. THEY ARE TOTALLY INCOMPETENT AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO PROPERLY GIVE DENTAL BREAKDOWNS. THE IVR IS HORRIBLE AS WELL. I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND BCBS. ALL THE MONEY THEY HAVE, AND THEY CANNOT EVEN INVEST IN A BETTER IVR SYSTEM OR REPRESENTATIVES THAT UNDERSTAND ENGLISH OR AMERICAN DIALECT. I DOUBT THIS REVIEW WILL RESULT IN SOME IMPROVEMENT BUT IT IS FRUSTRATING TO CALL AN INSURANCE COMPANY AND SPEAK WITH SOMEONE THAT JUST HAS NO CLUE AT ALL. SINCERELY, AN UNHAPPY DENTAL OFFICE

Be warned......BCBS worst insurance provider in the USA

Hope you never have a real emergency where you are half or completely unconscious and BCBS is your insurance provider. You might be sent into financial ruin after you leave the hospital and find out little to none of the services were covered by this company. Despicable!

THE WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD

1

Their customer service is absolutely terrible. 80% of the employees are either incompetent. Expect to call more than three times to get an issue resolved. The automated recording you get when you call is full of problems and takes considerable time to get where you need to go. I canceled my service in October because I simply couldn't take their stupidity any longer. I was given a partial refund check for the previous month. 2 months later I get a bill from them, stating my coverage is active. I've spoken to 2 managers and the issue still has yet to be resolved. The company needs a complete overhaul from a better training program to a new automated system. Avoid Blue Cross Blue Shield at all costs. You will save a considerable amount of time and money by staying away from them.
