Decent Lawn Mower

4

The Briggs & Stratton Quattro 4.0 HP Push Mower is a decent lawn mower which does it's job really well. One thing I really like is that this lawn mower comes with a bag to catch grass. On the flip side, it is challenging to remove the bag of grass without dumping it all over the place and getting it in between the cracks on the lawn mower. The reason I went with this brand is because it was on sale and it had pretty good reviews online. I would recommend this mower to someone who has a smaller yard and has either the patience or someone who does not mind grass getting out of place. This lawn mower does it's job and that's all you can really want unless you are a picky person--which I am. This mower has various settings, pertaining to grass height but my grass is too thick for this machine and it has to be mowed over twice to achieve the desired length. Overall, you get what you pay for.

Perfect for Small Yards

5

I picked up the Briggs & Stratton Quattro push mower when I moved into my duplex. I had a relatively small yard, so I didn't need the biggest, most powerful mower out there. When I used this model, I was pretty impressed with the durability of this little guy. It pushed through the thickest parts of my lawn without much of a struggle. It also fired up on the first shot, and after a year of constant use it didn't have any problems. This model has a catch bag, which at times can be a bit of a hassle to put back on, but you can bypass that by removing the bag and using it as a mulcher. Overall, this is a powerful mower for the price. I can only recommend this for small yards. Performance Very powerful. Pushes through thick grass with little hassle. Handling Handling is about average. It can be a little difficult to get into tight spots. It's pretty light weight though, and easy to push. Durability Used it for a year with no issues. Basic maintenance is all that is needed. Safety Just use common sense. Ease of Use Easy settings, makes adjusting a breeze. No extra features to figure out. Engine Power Powerful motor

A push mower for the small and weak

When I lived on a military post, they had strict regulations about lawn mowing. My husband is a strapping lad, but he couldn't always mow the lawn right when it needed to be done, and it's expensive to pay someone else to do it! We didn't have our own mower, so I borrowed one all the time. I'm a little person at 5 feet 2 inches tall, and I do not have a lot of upper body strength. The mowers I was borrowing were SO heavy and hard to push! Not only that, when you pulled the string to start them, it had to be pulled WAY out, and my arms weren't long enough to do it in one fluid motion. That was the worst part. Sometimes it would take 10-15 minutes to start the thing because I had to pull the string and jump backwards at the same time to be able to pull the string long enough. It's a real skill. Well, my neighbors moved out and offered us their "broken" lawn mower for free. It was a cherry-red Briggs & Stratton Quattro 4.0 HP push mower. All it needed was a tune-up at the local small engine repair shop and it was good to go. My lawn mowing life greatly improved the day I took that mower home. First of all, not only is it easy to push, it was light enough for me to pick up and put in the back of my SUV to take it to the repair shop. When you pull the string, the engine catches pretty quickly with no need for the backwards jump. Usually it catches on the first or second pull, too! It's a mulching mower, and the side thing where the grass gets spit out can discharge the grass, or you can unscrew it and push it in so you can attach a bag and it will spit into that. It's also got adjustable wheels for grass height. This is a pretty basic mower. I need a basic mower so I don't get heat stroke from 15 minutes of pulling and an hour of pushing a heavy monster mower. Since I got my Quattro, I consider mowing to be some good extra exercise and not a frustrating, blow-a-blood-vessel-in-my-forehead task.

Briggs & Stratton Quatro 4.0 push mower

the Briggs &Stratton Quatro 4.0 push mower is a great mower for the money .We had the Briggs & Stratton Quatro 4.0 mower for about three years the mower has a good cut to it  and is easy to push. Also this mower has always started very easy usually first or second pull.this mower Never burns oil and is very fuel effient. I used mine to try to start a mowing business. The frame or deck could be a little better built though mine had a brace on the rearend that came free on one side and no matter what we tried to do to fix it nothing worked. we tried cotter pins , new bolts with lock washer and nut, ect. .but despite that we used it till the wheels finally fell off. Now for the motor the Briggs & Stratton Quatro 4.0 is one of the best motors on the market right now.this motor starts right up every time I have only had to blow out the carborator twice due to a couple tanks of bad gasoline only had to change the filters once just for good measure. But overall i would recommened the Briggs And Stratton Quatro 4.0 push mower to anyone.

Okay for the money but needs more

I've always been a fan of Craftsman so this mower had its work cut out as far as filling its predecessor's shoes.  I like the idea of the larger rear wheels as in Florida the grass (and in some areas... the sand) gets pretty thick and makes it hard to mow.  Unfortunately, it only comes in a 4.0 horsepower engine which is pretty low as far as average mowers go nowadays.  I never had any starting issues with this mower, and I have gone a whole season without starting it and having absolutely no issues with this mower.  Some of the plastic pieces don't hold well and I've experienced a slight "rattling" sound with the top cover when it looks like it should be secured.  When pushing in a heavy or thick weeded area, the wheel adjustments have gotten pulled and I've had to stop to readjust the wheel.  Otherwise, it's been as reliable as my previous Craftsman mowers and seems to be solid enough to last awhile.  Compared to my previous mowers, it's definately worth it as the price goes.

Briggs & Stratton Quattro push is extremely reliable.

I own a Briggs & Stratton Quattro 4.0 HP push mower and it is the most reliable and easily maintained mower I have ever used.  I also own a Craftsman riding mower and a John Deer walk behind, but when it comes to upkeep and storage, you can not beat the push mower.  The Quattro is very easy to maneuver and lightweight.  The quick workout is also a plus.

The Quattro 4.0 is a good basic lawn mower that can be repaired.

The Quattro 4.0 is a good design. It has a good deck and reliable engine. The adjustments and operation are straight foward and ifit is maintained should provide years of trouble free service. Parts are universally available. Mulching is not great but good.

Very Dependable

4

I like this mower very much because it cranks so dependably.  Even after sitting over the winter in the garage it started on the second pull.  This is very important to me since there is not much more aggravating to me than to go out ready to cut grass and the lawn more will not start. I really like that I have the option to mulch or not mulch the grass clippings.  The only reason I did not give it five stars is that it is somewhat of a heavy mower for me.  The larger back wheels help a lot with pushing though.

The Briggs & Stratton Quattro push mower fell apart 4 times

The very first year we got this mower we had it in a repair shop three times.  It was still under warranty but it was brand new....WHY would we have to repair it so soon???  I thought for sure the second time it broke down, the company we bought it from would replace for free.  But no such luck...  They offered to fix it again for free and garenteed us it will work for many more years to come.  It worked good for about 6 months after we took it in..  So we called them back up and they couldn't beleive it broke down yet again.    Still under warranty so yes they fixed it once again.  My husband was so fierce I swear his EYES turned RED....  We took it home and it ran real good for the next year...  Guess what happened????  Yeap it broke down again.  We called the company and since our warranty was done we couldn't get it fixed for free.... My husband threw the phone down and stormed out of the house MAD as you know what,  He was gone for more than 5 hours I had know idea what he did,  If he went there to kill them or what.  By the time he returned home we had a brand new mower....  Thankfully this one has been working so far...  Anyways I can't with good conscience recommend anyone buying the Briggs & Stratton Quattro Brand.
