My husband bought the Brother Innov-is 40 sewing machine for me last Mother's Day. I am a beginner when it comes to sewing but have been very happy with this sewing machine. After taking one free beginner's sewing class at the store it was purchased from I felt very comfortable using this sewing machine. It's very easy to use and if I forget how to do something I can usually figure it out by looking in the manual. It's easy to thread and even has arrows and numbers on the machine to show you how to thread it. I appreciate little features like that. It has a digital display that makes it so simple to change the stitch length, width or style. I also like that on the digital display it tells you what foot you need for that particular stitch. It has many great little features that both the beginner and advanced sewer can appreciate. It has been a great first sewing machine for me.

When my old Singer machine finally gave up the ghost and could not be repaired it was time to get a new machine. I had a budget and a list of needs for my new machine and the Brothers Innov'is 40 Project Runway machine fit the bill. It had everything I needed, adjustable stich lengh and width, automatic button holer, adjustable zigzag, you name it, it had it, so I bought it the same weekend my old machince died. Now I sew several times a week and I needed a machine that could keep up with my needs and volume. It was been doing great, no problems, easy to thread, and the bobbin is easy to load too, the designer stiches are cute too and make for some adorable projects. I also love that is it pink, that was a big selling point for me! I will be using my Brother Innov'is 40 for many years to come and can't wait to see all the projects we turn out together, I would buy another Brother product in a heart beat.

I sew basically full time and I have gone through 3 machines in the past three years.  I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a more expensive machine.  After reading that this machine was rated the top machine according to Consumer Reports and getting reviews from other sewers I know, I bought the Brother Innov-Is 40.  It is perfection.  I haven't had a single problem-it works so well and sews smoothly.  Definitely a good investment!

I bought this machine after the one I bought on craigslist.com died on me. I was not sure I was going to sew very often, so, I didn't want to pay a ton of money for a great machine, but, after the death of the first machine, I could really understand the need for something reliable and purchased from a reputable dealer. He recommended this machine because it is so simple to use and is very reliable. I have been able to sew light knits and jersey, denim, canvas, twill, cotton and even quilting. It is very easy to change the feet on this machine and it gives me fantastic results. Brother creates a lot of feet for its machines and I have found them to be widely available and easy to use. The walking foot works beautifully on simple and more complex quilts. I use this machine on a weekly, if not daily basis and rarely have issues with it. If I do have problems with it, it is usually something that I did wrong, and not that machine's fault.
