Probably not my best purchase

3

I bought this chair with the intention of using it when we went to people's homes and out to the park, instead of lugging along a full size highchair. Not the best choice. Everywhere we took it, it either didn't fit the tables, or was way too big for what we needed. It only worked on a picnic table and a banquet table. No way it would work on a dining room table. Definitely not designed for that. The idea was good but not the execution. The west is nice and comfy, big enough for a big range of ages. The seat washes up nice, just a pain to get it out of the frame to wash and back on again. The hippo clips are a cute idea but it would be nice it there was alittle more adjustment to them. Everytime it wouldn't work ona table we would always say, if only it had this adjustment or that adjustment. Depending on what you had the seat attached to, sometimes it seemed really sturdy, other times i didnt dare leave the table fearing it tip over. This chair would be great for some homes that have a bar area to attach to and you didn't want a huge highchair.

A great space saver and handy tool when out.

This clip/snap on high chair is amazing. It doesn't have bulky legs like most high chairs. It's also smaller, less bulky, takes up less space, and it fits away in a corner easily. We got this because after reading mommy reviews online, I figured I could keep this and reuse it with my second and third kids and because it had great reviews for space saving. I am all about saving space. The chair just clamps onto/around any existing table. You can also use it with certain types of chairs. It has the clamps and bars that make it sturdy so you don't have to worry about the kiddo slipping or falling. I like that it is mostly flat and that I can tuck it under the bed or in the corner of the closet and it doesn't take up as much space as a high chair. It looks better than a high chair just junking up the kitchen. A cool feature is that the cover on it is washable. When it gets dirty we can take it off and throw it in the wash. It's also water and stain resistant so we can just wipe it off. It's so easy that even my guy can figure it out and use it. I recommend this to everyone because it saves space and you can use it nearly anywhere. It's also great for travel because you'll always have a place for the kids to set and you don't have to worry about what type of germs or funk may be on the high chairs in restaurants. Sturdiness It seems to be quite sturdy. I was paranoid at first but have since gotten very comfortable with it. It seems quite sturdy and the clamps hold it in place. Durability I love it. I can put it up and take it out whenever I need it and it has a great slip off cover that can be thrown in the wash. It's foldable and easy to put out of the way and I can wipe it off with sanitizing wipes. It's water and stain resistant which is what any mommy needs. Design I love the design. It's simple and it stows away nearly anywhere. It takes up so little space. Safety I've never had any concerns. Ease of Cleaning I love this! I can wipe it off or I can take the cover off and throw in the wash. It is water and stain resistant but sometimes it needs a cleaning because kiddos are messy.

A pain to use and clean.

We used his hook on high chair at a family member's house once, and that one time was enough for me to never consider buying this seat for our own house. The seat was a bit fussy to attach it to the counter, and I have concerns about using this for a heavier baby with a regular table. I think the weight of the baby on one side of the table might be enough to tip certain tables. We used it attached to a bar/counter for this reason. Having our daughter smear her food all over the actual counter was not ideal, I definitely prefer a removeable and easy to clean tray. Finally, the chair is covered in fabric that is incredibly difficult to clean, you would need to machine wash it after every single meal, not feasible when you are feeding three meals a day! I prefer the no fabric IKEA high chair for just this reason. Sturdiness I would not recommend this chair with larger babies. Durability Needing machine washing after every single meal means this chair cover is going to wear out quickly! Design There is no logical reason for a high chair to be covered in fabric.

A great option for traveling or to save space

The Chicco Travelseat hook on chair is a great option for folks that travel a lot, or for those that simply don't have a lot of room for a bulkier more traditional high chair in their dining area. Although we did have a regular high chair at the dinner table, we used this portable chair at the breakfast bar clamped right onto the countertop. It was great place to keep my baby while I was cooking dinner or doing kitchen work. Sturdiness While the chair itself is very sturdy, you have to be careful that the table you're hooking it onto is also sturdy. Design It's easy to hook this high chair onto the side of a table (we used it at a local campsite picnic table), or even at a breakfast bar. It's also easy to remove, and clean. Getting your child in and out isn't a problem either. Safety While the high chair itself is safe, there were a few occasions where the table we were hooking it onto wasn't stable enough. If you weren't paying attention, there's a chance an unsteady table could topple over. Ease of Cleaning I loved how easy this is to clean, which is important because at a dinner table, things like this can get pretty messy very quickly.

Easy and Portable High Chair Alternative

4

The Chicco Hook On Chair is a fantastic alternative to larger high chairs, This chair is easy to assemble and to hook on to a table or counter. I love that is does not require a lot of floor space and makes use of existing furniture. This hook on chair comes with a carrying bag which we used during a few family trips. The chair is quite portable and so easy to use. It does take a few uses before the easy part comes, but once you are familiar with how the seat works it really is easy to use. The fabric is easy to clean. We would just wipe it down with a wet washcloth after each feeding. Very easy. You can also take the cover completely off for the occasional heavy duty cleaning. This was a little tricky, but definitely doable. If you do regular wipe down cleanings you probably won't need to completely remove the cover very often. The seat seems very sturdy and safe once attached to a firm surface. Our daughter happily used the seat for about a year before transitioning to a booster seat at the dining room table. I would recommend this seat for anyone wanting an alternative to the larger traditional high chairs.

Great chair for most situations!

This is a great chair! I love that this chair is so portable. You can easily pack it up and bring it to a restaurant, friends house, etc. I took this chair on vacation and it worked out great. It hardly took up any space in the car and my baby could sit with us when we ate at the kitchen table. The first couple of times I put it together, it took me a little while to figure out. But once I got used to it, I was able to quickly set up the chair whenever I needed. It is also very easy to clean. You just remove the seat cover and can put it in the washer and dryer. The part that your baby sits in is nice and deep so I feel like it is pretty safe, however, I think a determined child would still be able to stand up in in so I would never leave my child unattended (however, that is true of most high chairs!).  The only other down side is that this chair does not work on all tables.  When I took it on vacation, I knew we had a big, sturdy kitchen table in our condo, but if you go somewhere and you don't know if the table is going to be lightweight or glass, you will be out of luck. Overall, in most situations, this chair is great though!

Nice idea a little bit hard to use alone.

The Chicco Hook On High Chair is a great idea, but a little bit involved to put on.  I like the idea of not using a restaurant high chair, who knows when the last time they were cleaned.  The idea behind this chair is great, but I will say that it's a two person job.  I felt very clumsy when I tried to use this chair when I was out by myself with my daughter.  You're carrying your daughter and the high chair, you get to the table and what are you going to do with your baby while you attach the chair?  Of coarse, people like to watch and that doesn't help anything.  Putting the chair on the table requires looking under the table to see the best place to put it, positioning the chair and then tightening the two screws to the bottom of the table to be stable.  This might have been easier if I brought my daughter in with her stroller, but then you're carrying the high chair, diaper bag, stroller all into the restaurant.  It's a little overwhelming.  I enjoyed using it more when my husband was with me.  One of us held the baby and the other (him :)  ) put the chair on.   Also, we found pushing a chair behind it added a little extra security.  Sometimes people would bump into the seat, we noticed sliding a regular chair behind the high chair stopped people from bumping into it.

Space Saver

Great for a space saver. Also nice that there isn't a spot for child to put feet on to try to get out. Not the easy to get fabric seat on and off to clean. But love the seat overall. A little pricey though.

Love my Chicco hippo high chair.

5

I absolutely love my hippo chair.  We have used it with 2 kids and it works perfectly.  It just hooks right onto the table so we don't have to move a high chair around our kitchen all the time.  It is wonderful for travel too.  Everytime we go on vacation we just take it with us and hook it on the table wherever we are staying.  Our baby loves it and so do we.  It is a little hard to clean though.  You have to take it apart and let it soak to scrub it clean.  We have used it for 2 kids and it is starting to break on the bottom too.  It probably wouldn't make it for a 3rd kid but still a wonderful product.  Our 18 month can figure out how to get out of the buckles but our 1st son never did.  So I think it's just that our 18 month old can wiggle out of just about anything.  So it may or may not be just us.  I think it was very reasonably priced and well worth every penny.  We absolutely love it!

Not recomended

1

I bought this for my first daughter. I was concerned with the space we had available in our home. So I purchased this chair to save on space. It was easy to fold up and put away. First problem I had was it was not strong and safe enough so we had to place a chair undernieth it while she was in it. For fear she would flip the table over. The second was it was a pain to take apart and clean. It finally fell apart after having to be washed everytime she ate. They should have made it with vynal fabric for easy cleaning. The push pins for the braces rusted and fell out. Also the lock bars where hard to squeeze shut and after they did lock it was such a pain to remove....I would not recomend this product for all the safety reasons. When I buy a product I expect it to last. I think this item was used for 3 months before it started to fall apart. Not a good thing to buy in this strapped economy.
