I could not get over the rancid smell long enough to see if this was any good. I bought two travel size kits of the normal to oily skin care line with this product included in both kits and both bottles smelled like they were spoiled. I gave it my best shot for two weeks asulting my nose twice daily and couldn't take it anymore. I don't care if it is amazing or complete trash. It smells too bad to continue using.

I use this as part of the Clinique three step system. I'm really happy with how well this works for someone whose skin isn't oily like when I was a teenager, but is still more oily thank combination. It goes on easily and dries quickly, but doesn't dry out my skin. I've found that my skin seems more matte throughout the day when I use this. Overall, I'd recommend it.

Clinique Clarifying Lotion is a great part of a 3-part system. The three parts are: Facial Soap Mild Clarifying Lotion Moisturizing Lotion I have used Clinique for many years. It works well for my skin. It's easy. It smells good and leaves my face feel clean and fresh. After washing my face, I put a small amount of the clarifying lotion on a make-up pad and gently wipe across my face. It does not sting or irritate my skin. It feels light and bright. It feels like my face has broken free from them layer of "stuff" that the day has left it with. It has a very light, pleasant scent. It does not smell fruity or flowery. Nor does it smell light alcohol or medicine. Scent is very important to me for something that I put on my face and don't wash off. This scent is not offensive at all. Even though I use it after washing my face, it still removes what washing left behind. I also think that it actually removes traces of the soap. Clinique has several special offers throughout the year. They often have a "gift with purchase". I always wait for one of those offers to buy my Clinique products. Some times I get some really fun (and useful) products as a bonus!

The Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3 really does help clear away my acne on my face and forehead, and helps to clear my skin. However, this Clinique product is a bit on the pricey side. Also, the smell is not that appealing and smells a bit strong, like alcohol.

I have been battling acne since high school. From infomercials to high end cosmetics I have tried pretty much every acne system out there. And the Clinique three step system is the only one that has worked for me in calming my oily acne prone skin. I was first introduced to this product 4 years ago (during my worst early 20s acne breakout) and ever since then the Clinique Clarifying Lotion #3 has been my go-to summer toner! I have combination oily skin and during the hot and humid summer months my face gets out of control OILY & ACNE PRONE. So far, this has been the only toner that has worked for me in preventing extra shine throughout the day and future breakouts. Before using the Clinique's Clarifying Lotion 3, I was never a big fan of toners because it always over stripped my face leaving it uncomfortably dry and not to mention the horrid chemical smell that lingered on my face. Unlike others that I've tried, this product is gentle on my sensitive skin and is very effective in removing the excess dirt and oil from my face. You know this product is effectively removing excess dirt and oil from your face when you see dirty residue on your cotton pad even after a very thorough face cleansing! Pretty gross... but the evidence is in the used cotton pad! ; ) As for the scent, it's not really noticeable. I'm not sure if there is none to start with or if they just masked it but I never found myself getting discouraged by the smell of this product. If I love this product so much, why did I give it a 9? Well... it's because I'm not too fond of the standard packaging that this product comes in. I find that the bottles that you can easily find in stores the 13.5 fl oz and the 6.7 fl oz has the traditional small opening on the top so you just place a cotton pad on top and tilt the bottle upside down to get the solution onto the pad. It's not bad, but sometimes it can get messy and more than often you might get too much or too little of the solution onto the pad. With that said, Clinique usually comes out with their special pump bottle during the holiday season. Lately, I haven't had any luck finding this special bottle. It's a much larger size bottle with a pump style cap. I love this packaging! It's more convenient and always gives you the right amount on the pad. All you have to do is flip open the cap and with a cotton pad in hand pump down to get the solution onto the pad. I wish these pump bottles were more accessible. Effectiveness Great at removing excess dirt and oil from face with out overtly drying your skin. Plus it prevents your pores from getting clogged. Scent My favorite part about this product is that there's no added scents! Ease of Application Very easy to use! After washing my face with a gentle face cleanser I dab this bad boy on a cotton pad and gently wipe my T-zone and follow up with a oil free moisturizer. Ta-DA~ YOUR DONE! : )

I have been using this for a long time and I would still repurchase in the future. It is the best toner for my combination oily skin. It helps me control greasiness and my occasional breakouts. I did not care for the container too much since it's just a cap and the bottle, which can mean a bit spillage here and there for a clumsy person like me. However, once or twice a year, they offer a special container where you get a pump attached to the top. Or you can always get a container that you prefer and put the toner in it. Effectiveness Tried and true! Been using it for years and it still works. Scent The smell is the only downfall. It doesn't smell pretty, kind of like chemicals but luckily it doesn't linger.

I really have enjoyed using the clinique clarifying lotion. The Clinique Clarifying lotion has clarified my skin. My skin looks noticeably better since I started using it. Effectiveness The Clinique Clarifying lotion has been very effective in how my skin looks and feels. Scent The scent is pleasant. Not too much, not too little. I usually don't like a strong scent, especially on products that go on my face. So I appreciate this. I don't like how some products sting or have a twinge on your skin, but this done doesn't and I love that. Ease of Application It is really easy to use. I use it (usually) twice a day and have seen a dramatic increase in my facial skin quality since I started using it.

Of all the toners I have tried, I always come back to this one by Clinique. Lotion 3 is for combination skin like mine which has an oily t-zone, but is somewhat dry elsewhere. You will be amazed at what the cotton ball picks up with this lotion AFTER you have thoroughly washed your face! It gives you the cleanest skin possible. Effectiveness This clarifier is highly effective, yet non-irritating. It picks up every last bit of dirt on your skin, even when you think it is clean. It closes up your pores temporarily. Scent Some may not like the medicine-like scent of the product but that is the alcohol. You certainly don't want to breathe it in. It's pretty strong. Ease of Application Just swipe it on a cotton ball and apply to your skin. Easy. It is strong, but not irritating.
