Absolutely Love It

5

We just purchased this Mini Crib for our bundle of joy arriving now in January 2014. We have previously purchased DaVinci Convertible Crib for our first born (4 years ago) and now its a convertible Full Size Bed. We needed something smaller for our additional baby so this fits perfectly and when it converts to twin bed will be even better. I also purchased the mattress to add stability to the crib. So far we absolutely love it. Easy to build as we previously built the one before. Just takes two people to build it. We bought it in cherry to match the first furniture bought. I also suggest that the screws be tightened every month to keep the stability of the crib, we did that previously and it helped. We just trust this brand absolutely and would not trade it. The only thing difference was that this type of crib has a wooden support not a spring as the previous one but let's see if it holds as the baby gets bigger as it says up to 50 lbs.

Very challening to put together but nice looking

I bought this crib when I was 16 weeks pregnant. I like to plan ahead. I bought it because Consumer Reports rated it as its "best buy" item, meaning it was the safest for the price. We are on a budget, so this seemed ideal. I chose the cherry finish. It came in a humongous box that required my husband and one of our friends to carry inside. Not ideal if you are a single mom or don't have a strong friend who can help your husband, since as a pregnant woman, you're not supposed to do any heavy lifting. Putting it together was a nightmare. The directions were awful. It took my husband and I about 5 or 6 hours. It is not a one person job. After it was together, it looked beautiful. I have to say though that the screws loosen after not much time. I have to shake various parts of the crib to make sure it is still sturdy. I keep a screw driver handy, because I have had to tighten the screws many times. If you buy this crib, make sure to get teething covers because if your child starts chewing on it, he or she will end up with a mouthful of wood. My child did exactly this and before I could purchase covers, he ruined his gorgeous crib.

Crib too tall, soft wood.

I compared many cribs before purchasing this one. Ultimately we just went with the design since we didn't know how different cribs could really be. It is a very attractive crib, but there are many marks and scratches just from putting it together. Add a baby or toddler that likes to bite and you can imagine what it looks like, so it probably won't be used for a bed frame since it is already so scratched. It is also taller than I would like. Since I ordered online and didn't have the chance to see it in person until it was put together, we had no way of knowing this. It isn't a big deal until the baby can stand and the mattress is lowered. It was very hard to get our daughter into the crib without waking her up or almost dropping her because it was so low. We now have it converted to a toddler bed and have no complaints. My daughter seems to like it and it is safe, so that is all that matters.

Worse than expected

We bought this crib in 2006, now 4 years later I must say I should have bought a different crib. I will start with things that are nice: Good design, easy to hang blanket on either front or back side bar. Safe, I really can't imagine a way how baby can get hurt in this crib. Nice feature that is can be changed into daybed. Helped us to learn night night time. When we changed it into daybed, it barely changed it's look and it was still on the same spot, so my daughter was never tempted to get up and run after me after I put her to sleep. What I don't like about it is that it was made from very soft wood, dents very easy. Don't bother buying full bed rails for it, it will look too flimsy as full size bed! Plus a lot of babies will chew on it, so chewed up full size bed won't look nice. It takes a while to put it together and after 4 years of use I see that bolts that hold it together getting lose pretty often so I have to go back and tighten them. It would be really cool crib if they use harder wood and re-design how it's being put together so that bolts don;t get loose. For full size bed conversion it really needs to be thicker, legs and rails appear to be to thin for adult bed.

best crib ever

This is where what you pay for, really makes a difference in quality.  While this is very expensive the quality is completely worth it.  Overall this product has lasted for 3 years total.  Build quality is excellent and hasn't fallen apart.  We ended up selling it at a garage sale for 60 percent of what we paid 3 years ago.  There hasn't been any product recalls and we would buy this again.  The biggest issue we had was the lack of colors to choose from.  Even though it would be nice to see more colors, we found the three that they had was enough to find something "close".  Overall, if we had to purchase this again we would quickly do so. PROS: Build quality is top of the line.  Very safe and sturdy.  Has lasted 2 children with nothing breaking.  Wheels on bottom make moving easy.  Plastic covers.  Uses stardard parts.   CONS: Price.  Lack of colors to choose from,  directions were hard to follow.  Repair parts are not free.

Nice crib ... but soft wood

We bought the black Emily 3-in-1 crib for our first child.  We had no real experience so just went with a design that we liked and made sure the crib was all wood.  While the Emily is an all wood crib, it is pine and thus is rather soft.  There are many marks in the front railing from our jeans' buttons or belts as well as from our son teething.  For the black color this is not a huge eye sore ... we simply color the marks in with a Sharpie marker ... but I suspect a wood tone bed would really show the gouges.  Also, the horizontal rail that goes across the front is 2-3 inches above the vertical slats that make up the front of the crib -- with experience we've realized that this is a perfect place for the child to put their leg/foot to get a boost up and over the railing!!  What a SCARY experience!!  Thus it really "forces" you to move the child to the toddler bed component of the crib earlier than you may with another crib design.  The bed has suited us fine however we bought a different crib (from a different manufacture) for our second child.

Great crib for small spaces

We had a very small room for our son's nursery. I didn't even know about Mini Cribs until I stumbled on one on the internet while looking for cribs. I was a little hesitant at first because I wasn't sure if it would be big enough and I worried my son might grow out of it fast. But me and my husband decided to take the chance and try the smaller crib. I'm so glad we did. We will buy this crib for all of our future children. First, it's quite easy to put together. My husband had it all set up within  about an hour. I'm able to adjust the height very easily. Second, you can purchase the conversion set and it becomes a twin size bed (we haven't tried this yet, but we plan to). We liked this option better than the conversion kits for a full size crib because full size cribs convert to full/queen size beds. We wanted to buy one crib/bed for each child to use throughout his/her childhood (which is why we will buy this crib for the rest of our kids). Third, my son is a year old and still has plenty of growing room in this crib.

I bought this crib for my son for the baby sitters,  I loved it.  It was easy to set up and easy to move, and the perfect size for him. I think the price was well worth the quality, I actually thought about just buying another Da Vinci for my house,  my son sleeps in it so comfortably and he loves it as much as I do. I would recommend this product to everyone I know that is having a baby, for at home use or for just the extra bed at the sitters.  The wood quality is great and the paint on it is gorgeous too. The mini crib does not take up alot of room so its perfect size for a nursery. Especially if you have twins.  I especially love it because i can move it even during the day while I clean the house and the baby doesnt want to sleep in the other room.I hope that by the time my husband and I decide to have another baby that they will still be making this product,  Maybe by the next time I need a new crib they will have it in more colors, like pink for a girl. I would definetly give the Da Vinci Emily mini crib a five out of five.  I love the mini crib and I am glad that I found it. I am looking forward to buying a new one for my little girl some day in the future. This crib is one of the best cribs that I have ever used and would recommend it to everyone I know even if its just for the grandbaby or the niece or nephew for the weekend visits.

Sturdy Beautiful fits well in small nursery converts to twin bed

I love this crib.  We have a three bedroom house and our third bedroom is tiny, so when i found out i was expectng again i new i couldn't use my daughters crib because it was too large and too feminine.  I shopped around a lot trying to find a good deal on this crib and i wound up buying it from local baby store for 150.00.  I put it together with great ease.  it is sturdy and beautiful.  if you sratch it the paint does not chip and it has seen rough times at my house.  Plus i bought the coversion rails for 30 bucks and turned it into a really cute twin bed just perfect so for 150 i got a crib i can use until my son's second birthday and a bed i can use until he is at least twelve.  It is a great value.  The only draw back is that there is not a wide variety of bedding.
