I installed the Dreambaby Retractable Gate in my living room to prevent my niece from entering the kitchen and found it to be useless. The best thing about this gate is that I was able to install the two brackets and the gate to both sides in less than 10 minutes, but the screws provided weren't sufficient so I had to use my own. Once installed I discovered a major design flaw with the mesh gate. When I tested out the gate there wasn't any slack in the mesh and it was easy to undo quickly without tremendous force. I was able to apply a nice amount of force to the top of the gate and it held up well, but the bottom portion was another story. The very bottom of the mesh gate is very flimsy and there is about a two inch gap between it and the floor. My niece initially didn't try to crawl under the gate because it was foreign to her, but once she figured out that it was flimsy it became a game. I tried pulling the mesh tighter, but it didn't have any affect on bottom portion. I definitely wouldn't recommend the Dreambaby Retractable Gate because it does a poor job of preventing a baby and an average size dog from going under it.
