Still an Ex Smoker

5

There is a learning curve and a certain amount of trial and error involved, but I am very happy using ecigarettes. My adult daughter and I had quit smoking 7-8 years ago, when prices got to the point where we could not afford to smoke. The desire was always there. About 2 years ago, circumstances in our lives were really stessful, and the desire to resume smoking was really strong, to the point that I was ready to go out and buy a carton. My daughter had seen something online about ecigarettes. We researched, and waited a few months, and finally got ourselves a couple of starter kits. We have not looked back. No more desire to go back to smoking, no more stinky house, clothing, etc. We are very satisfied "vapers", as ecigarette users are sometimes called. We are both very proud to continue to call ourselves former smokers. I heartily suggest that anyone considering ecigarettes go online and check out E Cigarette Forum (ECF) and CASAA. They have a wealth of information on both sites regarding ecigarettes, and plenty of people who are more than happy to answer questions and help people who are interested in ecigarettes. ECF also has reviews of different products and suppliers, etc., so you do not have to go into this "blind". Effectiveness For my daughter and myself, they are very effective at keeping us from going back to smoking. Ease of Use There is a learning curve, but ecigarettes can be as simple or complicated as the user wishes. We started out with automatic batteries and cartridges that resemble cigarettes (except that I have never seen a purple cigarette, or a cigarette with a blue led tip). We learned to fill the cartridges with different flavored eliquids, and experimented with different nicotine levels until we found what worked for us. We have now moved on to manual batteries that have a longer use time and refillable "tanks". Still a pretty simple setup compared to what some other "vapers" have. The really nice thing about ecigarettes is that they are so very customizable. You can have a simple setup that is very easy to use. YOU are in charge of how much nicotine is in your eliquid. YOU can decide how much pg/vg is in your eliquid. YOU can choose whatever flavors you want. Yes, there is a learning curve, but it is only as difficult as you want to make it. Side Effects We have not found any so far. If your nicotine level is too high or too low for you, it is fairly easy to figure out and adjust. Some people are sensitive to pg or vg or some of the flavorings. Again, fairly easy to figure out and adjust. Immediacy The nicotine in the ecigarettes does not hit at once like it does in a cigarette. You are not getting all the chemicals that are added to cigarettes to "enhance" them. Having not smoked actual cigarettes for 7-8 years, we did not notice this as much. Current smokers will probably notice it, and have to adjust for it. Dosage Control YOU are in charge of the nicotine level. You can even go down to 0 nicotine if you so choose.

Definitely a good product for a smoker with a family.

My stepdad was a smoker of almost 20 years, and he started using the e-cigarettes a few years back. The house no longer has the ingrained smell of smoke and he personally seems to be healthier. He used to cough entirely too much, apparently from all of the carcinogens in normal cigarettes, but now that he's been using this, he no longer has the same issues. I think the most convenient part about this is that you don't have to go to a certain place to use it. You can use it in public, in your home, in your car, or wherever else. Not having to have the windows rolled down in the winter is also a huge plus! Overall, I would strongly recommend this product to any smoker that has a family, pets, or even if they are looking out for their own well being.

Pretty Good

I was a very heavy smoker who would smoke a pack a day and for my age that is a lot. When the E cigarettes first came out I tried them but it never seemed to work for me. They would also run out so fast that I would have to go buy another one which where the same prices and buying a pack. I also do not think that I would truly ready myself to stop smoking. About three months ago I finally decided that it was time to quit but I could not do it cold turkey. I started using the E cigarettes again but I found one that was rechargeable. All I had to do was buy refills for the top part which came in a five pack. So now all I am buying is the five pack refills once a week instead of buying a whole E cigarette everyday and paying what I was paying for smoking. Its great because you can also smoke it inside because there is no smell to to it. Its also great because you don't smell of smoke either. It has been three months and I have not had a smoke at all and it feels so great. I recommend this to people who are trying to quit and just need that little kick of nicotine. Its a great product.

Good alternative to cigarettes

I have been a heavy smoker or full strength cigarettes for 10 years. I always use the excuse that cigarettes calm my nerves, and that's why I cannot quit. I always complained about the price of cigarettes so my husband bought me an electronic cigarette one day. I was.surprised. Although I still snuck a real cigarette in every now and then I used the electronic almost constantly. Looking back now I realize I probably used it too much, which might have led to some of my side effects. Overall if you are.trying to stop smoking, or even cut back, I recommend trying an electronic cigarette. I've heard it helps for some people and doesn't for others. It helped me, and it doesn't hurt to try. Effectiveness I still had cravings, so I had to sneak regular full strength cigarettes in occasionally, but most of the time it helped my cravings. Ease of Use Very easy to use. I tried to charge it while I was sleeping, but if I forgot to charge it I was back to regulars until it fully charged. It doesn't take long to charge though. Side Effects I used my e-cigarette alot so I contribute my side effects to that. I feel that if you use it wisely you won't have bad side effects, or won't have any at all. My side effects were bad enough to where I stopped smoking all together. After a couple.months I constantly felt like something was stick in my throat. I did t contribute it to the cigarette at that time and continued to use it regularly. A month later I started noticing a pressure in my chest and lungs. I started coughing and hacking alot, then my chest just hurt all the time until I stopped using it altogether. The chest pain and coughing and lump in my throat feeling didn't go away until a month after I stopped using my e-cigarette.

Complicated, there are better E cigs out there

E-cigs do work for me but this one is too complicated. The refill process is pricey and complicated and am constantly losing parts of the E-cig. There are better e cigs out there! The dosage control is good and so the side effects are zero though. If you do not mind a little complicated assembly, this could be a good product for you

Really big waste of money.

I am extremely disappointed with the e-cigarettes. I bought one to help me quit smoking and it was a huge waste of money. It didnt work most of the time. It would leak and it was completely discussing. I did more research and found out that the e-cigarette are not as helpful as people think. They may be doing more harm then helping people. So I tossed it out and quit cold turkey.

Not bad, but its up to you to stop.

These are cool and can be pretty helpful but realistically its going to come down to you. It doesn't taste as good or feel as good as the real thing and certainly doesn't look cool enough to equal that out. Its a good alternative for if you are really trying but don't rely solely on these. The only reason I'd use this is for quitting cigarettes and I have found success with other versions of similar products but not this one.

A healthy alternative

Science at the moment says these are better for you than traditional cigarettes. I liked them in that they were cleaner and delivered the nicotine I enjoy and use to relax at work. The downside is that you can overdo it, and make yourself feel sick. Overall I liked them.

I absolutely love and would recommend e-cigs to anyone.

I have been a smoker for about 30 years. I have long wanted to stop smoking and I have never been able to for a prolonged period of time. Its not so much the nicotine, but the tar and the carcinogins. So when I learned about e-cigs, it truly seemed like the solution I was looking for. I first researched a little bit, and I chose a brand based on reviews that I read from other smokers. I will note that almost every brand had complaints. I purchased my starter kit and I got the kind that has cartridges that you screw onto the battery, not the refillable kind. This was in August 2013. It is now December 2013 and I love them!! I will say that I have occasionally smoked a "real" cigarette, but it left such a horrible taste in my mouth I quickly put it out and grabbed my e-cig!! I cannot imagine being without it now. They are truly wonderful. If you think it might be for you, I urge you to give it a real chance. I will say that it takes a bit of getting used to, but if you persevere I think you will come to love it as i did!! Effectiveness Very effective! Ease of Use Very easy! Side Effects None that I am aware of in my 5 months of use.

I Love These Products So Much, I'm a Walking Advocate!

As many reviewers have said, the product CAN be difficult to use when you first start with them. They get progressively harder as users become more and more skilled. There are issues many users find with using the wicks, and eventually they can even begin using modifiers and rebuilding their own atomizers (or tanks). There's also a lot of reviewers questioning how safe the product is and believing some of the media attention and articles written by the FDA. In response, I say that e-cigarettes aren't as safe as not using a nicotine product, but they're much safer than cigarettes or actual tobacco products. E-cigarettes, despite negative press, DO NOT contain tobacco - they contain nicotine, the chemical (albeit addictive) found in tobacco & dozens of other products approved by the FDA. But they lack the tar and other carcinogens found in tobacco or inhaled while smoking. Another point of order that I have to bring up is that the FDA and government get so much funding from Big Tobacco that every article not performed by an independent company must be treated with skepticism. I agree, there aren't enough long-term studies to understand the complications or ramifications of e-cigarettes just yet. But the short term studies performed by independent think tanks have shown that the levels of carcinogenic material taken in by e-cigarette users is minimal, using numbers in the millionths to describe the actual carcinogen inhaled. The studies by the FDA say there are carcinogens found in e-cigarettes, but doesn't disclose that the parts are far tinier than most people inhale on a short walk in the city. Since I started using this product, I haven't touched any tobacco product. I find my senses of taste and smell are enhanced and I can't stand the smell of cigarettes anymore. I can smell smokers while I'm driving and the smoker is three car lengths ahead of me! I currently work, for free, writing descriptions for an online personal vaporizer seller. Personal vaporizer is another name for e-cigarettes, and include the mods, rebuildables, and other "fancier" products that e-cigarettes can "graduate" to using if they find e-cigarettes (i.e. Blu e-cigs) aren't meeting their needs. The company I work for has a physical (brick and mortar) store, where the owner personally talks with customers to help them find products that meet their individual needs. Because first-time users may be a little confused, I have to recommend that people who are new to e-cigarettes go to a local e-cigarette store (not a gas station or 7-11) and talk to someone who knows the products. Effectiveness I started using an e-cigarette in January 2013 and it's now late December 2013. Since I started using e-cigarettes, I haven't had any inclination to smoke a cigarette. Ease of Use The product requires a lot more work when compared to a cigarette. You have to prime the wick with liquid, fill the tank, charge batteries, and, eventually, replace the tank or wick because it will eventually become "burnt out" through contact with the heating element (the wick draws the liquid up, makes contact with the heating element, and the heat turns the liquid to vapor). Again, I recommend talking with someone who has experience with e-cigarettes before you buy any if you're serious about using them to quit smoking. Side Effects Short-term studies have shown some narrowing of the bronchial tubes, which goes back to normal as soon as the user stops "vaping" (using the e-cigarette). Also, no INDEPENDENT and VERIFIABLE studies have been performed regarding the long term side effects. However, from my personal experience, there's no disgusting smell, bad breath, or clouds of smoke to deal with - so the lack of those side effects is a HUGE plus. Immediacy It curbs my cravings immediately and without a nasty smell. In fact, a friend was with me in my room one day while I used my e-cigarette and she thought I had lit incense! She found the smell most pleasant. Dosage Control You can choose anywhere from 0mg to 24mg of nicotine. While some nicotine juice is pre-packaged and manufactured in an assembly line, small business owners mix their juice by hand and can add any amount of nicotine to the Vegetable Glycerin and Propylene Glycol. VG and PG are the two other liquids used to make e-cigarettes "juice" AND they're FDA APPROVED.
