Not modern enough for my taste.

3

I bought this coffee percolator a few months ago to try out something new. However, I think I will just stick to my other coffee maker. I would not recommend this to anybody. Brew Performance Considering I cannot choose whether I want a dark or light brew, I will give it a three. I will say that it always came out steaming hot though. Ease of Cleaning I will say that this coffee percolator is easier to clean than more modern coffee makers. Ease of Use It really is not easy to use at all, and it takes a while to get used to making coffee this way. I prefer a more modern way of making coffee. Design When I first bought it, I really liked the simplistic design. However, my opinion changed when the coffee kept spilling out of it. I think if the manufacturers' made this a little bigger, it probably would not have happened. Durability This coffee percolator truly did not last very long for me. I owned it for about three months before all of the coffee kept spilling out of the top of it. I could no longer use it, and I had to throw it away when that started happening.

Great for parties and small gatherings

5

I typically use my percolator when I am having a home party or gathering. I has an elegant look to it that will fit with any type of gathering. I like it because it stays hot and you can somewhat regulate the temperature and bit. Brew Performance I love the way this unit brews as it smells heavenly. It brews rather fast, but it also brews evenly so coffee is not too strong or too weak. Ease of Cleaning This unit is probably the easiest to clean because once you unplug it the entire unit can be submerged in water for cleaning. Ease of Use There is nothing complicated about using a percolator. It is actually easier to use then the everyday coffee pot and much easier to maintain also. Design There is really nothing spectacular about the design of this unit. It is somewhat unassuming and plain to look at. Durability I have owned a percolator for as long as I can remember. I think I grew up with one in our family home and I adopted the same reasoning for getting one and always having one on hand for parties and small gatherings.

Temperature fluctuates!

My automatic coffee maker died after 7 years of good service and I decided to try out the Faberware 12-Cup Electric Percolator. I loaded the coffee grounds into the chamber, added water, and plugged it into the outlet. It started to slowly warm up and after a couple of minutes it began to bubble. It took about 8 minutes for my coffee to brew. This machine produced a smooth and rich cup of coffee. The main issue I had with this percolator is that the heating system was very inconsistent. I never once changed my heating time of 8 minutes, but the results were always a mixed bag. Sometimes my coffee would be heated to an idea temperature and would yield a great taste. On other occasions it would generate unbearable levels of heat. When the percolator produced extremely hot coffee the taste suffered tremendously. Because of the extreme heat it over extracted unstable elements from the grounds. I would love to recommend the Farberware 12-Cup Electric Percolator, but it's too hit or miss with the temperature.

One of the better cups of coffee I have had

5

I have a friend that comes up for the summer and stays at a nearby camp on the lake. She has had one of these Farberware Electric Percolators for as long as I can remember and it consistently makes one of the best cups of coffee I have had. Brew Performance I think you need to know the right proportions to get a super good cup of coffee, but once you have that down, you will not be disappointed. Ease of Cleaning This is super easy to clean, a true coffee person used no soap on the inside, but the outside cleans up super easy with a wet rag. Ease of Use This might be a little tricky for a generation of instant brew or K-cup users, and it takes a little bit longer than an drip pot, but well worth the wait! Design The design is simple, no electronics or timers to mess with, just plug and brew. Durability My friend has had hers for many years and uses it daily for her and her husband. She often brews two or more pots a day, so I guess they are pretty durable.

Short life span

3

When I first started dating my husband I had coffee at his mother's house and it was the best coffee! I asked her what brand of coffee she used and she said it wasn't the brand of coffee, it was the percolator. Well I immediately had to go out and get one. Unfortunately, it was the first of many that I had to purchase. She was right, the percolator is what made the coffee taste so good. However, the life span of the percolator does not seem to be very long. In the past 6 years I have probably purchased 5 of them. For some reason, they short out rather quickly. My mother-in-law had her percolator for years so I didn't understand what I was doing wrong. Turns out nothing, she recently had to purchase a new one and she is now experiencing the same thing. It just appears that the newer models just don't seem to last as long as the older models. I tell myself every time one breaks, I am just going to switch to a regular coffee maker, but that has yet to happen. I just love the taste too much to quit!

Love my percolator!

5

I absolutely love my percolator! Absolutely the best coffee maker I've every purchased. Quick and easy to clean, brews extremely fast, and hot and extremely tasty coffee. Would never buy another type of coffee maker. Brew Performance Brews very quickly and coffee is really hot. Once brewed just keep coffee maker plugged in and it keeps coffee hot and tasting fresh for hours. Ease of Cleaning Easy to clean only a few parts to clean quickly. Ease of Use Extremely easy to brew coffee. Just fill water in main container. Add coffee grounds and then plug in. Coffee immediately starts to brew. It only takes a few minutes and coffee is ready. The coffee is always extremely hot and tastes excellent. Design Small enough that it doesn't take up too much space and also can unplug from wall and sit out on table during a party of gathering. Durability Coffee maker has lasted for several years. Compared to other coffee makers that get clogged and stop filtering. Never had any problems with this coffee maker.

Best cup of coffee you will ever taste

5

This product makes one of the best cups of coffee I have ever tasted. Despite myths about old fashioned percolators, this product can hold its own when compared to others using newer brewing methods. The quality of the coffee is outstanding. Brew Performance Despite some opinions that I am aware of about percolators taking more time to brew, this pot is fast and efficient. I prefer the finished product from this percolator as opposed to most of the more popular brand coffee makers available on the market today. Ease of Cleaning This product must be taken apart in order to clean it. It has several individual parts that need to be cleaned. Ease of Use This product is very easy to use with only a few steps needed for the process of brewing. It can be set up the night before and plugged in to brew the following morning. Design This Faberware product is sleek and stylish but does need to be polished to look its best. Durability This percolator should last for many years with proper use and care.

Long lasting if you need that cup of coffee in the morning.

This has been the best coffee maker I have ever owned. It has been brewing 3 or4 pots a day for the past 4 years for me. Just keep it clean and it works great. Brew Performance The day I bought this percolator it would brew a pot in 11 minutes. After 4 years of service it has only gained 2 minutes in brewing time. Ease of Cleaning This is an old trick I've learned about a long time ago. Fill it with warm water drop in 2 denture cleaning tablets, let it sit over night, poor it out and the hard part is done. Ease of Use Fill it with water, insert 3 components to hold the coffee. It can't get much easier. Design The only fault it has is the design of the electrical cord. Durability You can't beat it. 4 years and still going strong.

Farberware 12-cup Perculator: For bold & hot java

4

Over the past 20 years I've become accustomed to using auto-drip coffeemakers, but I grew up listening to and appreciating the aroma of peculator prepared coffee. So, it's not surprising that when my mom passed away not too long ago one of the items I decided to keep was her new-ish Farberware FCP412 Electric Percolator. Although these days we keep it in reserve for those occasions when we have to brew an additional pot of coffee for the decaf crowd. Still, on occasion I'll use it on weekends when I want an especially hot & bold coffee to have with our morning breakfast. The sound of coffee perking and the accompanying fragrance is comforting. Brew Performance The Farberware FCP412 Electric Percolator brews a bold pot of coffee just a bit slower than my DeLonghi auto-drip coffeemaker. Like most percolators, the coffee it brews is hotter than most of us have come to expect from our drip coffeemakers. Personally, I enjoy a very hot cup of coffee. Since there is no specific brew strength control on the coffeemaker you have to adjust the amount of coffee used for the number of cups you are preparing. Liking a bold cup of coffee, I generally use a heaping tablespoon per cup adding an additional level tablespoon when preparing a full 12 cup pot. The brewed coffee is bold and very aromatic. Ease of Cleaning Cleaning an electric percolator can be a pain. The stainless steel basket and wand can be easily removed and either hand-washed or left to the dishwasher, the actual body of the percolator must be hand-washed and since it's electric can't be submerged in water. After several pots of coffee have been brewed, the oils of the coffee have a tendency to stick to the interior stainless steel walls. If not washed clean, successive pots will have a noticeably more bitter taste. And there's the problem. Getting into the inside of the pot with a scrubby is difficult for those of us with larger hands. Ease of Use The Farberware FCP412 Electric Percolator is among the easiest coffeemakers to use once you get the hang of locating the impressed markings on the inside of the pot. Simply add on tablespoon of coffee for each cup of brewed coffee in the basket before covering the basket. Place the basket on the wand and insert the wand into the percolator. Plug it in and the percolator starts to perk until it senses the job is done. Once perking is done (you'll know by the absence of perking noise) you're good to go. The percolator will keep the coffee hot as long as it is left plugged in. Design The design of the Farberware FCP412 Electric Percolator hasn't changed in the last 50 years. It is a clean but above all a purely functional design. Durability Over a 50 year period my folks had just 4 Farberware Electric Percolators. This latest was purchased after my mother, who was sight impaired dropped her previous coffeemaker on a hard tiled floor, cracking the bottom plastic base. That speaks pretty well for endurance.

Good Coffee Pot but rather Expensive considering Percolator-Type

4

The Farberware Coffee Pot is a sleek and nice looking style coffee pot. It is real easy to use and produces a good cup of coffee. As far as cleaning the interior, it pretty much is stained due to the coffee stains, so I wouldn't go through the trouble. It is reliable, but with everyday use it may not last as long. I thought that the price of the pot was rather high, considering that this is a percolator-type pot, and with all the other types on the market that are fancier and more high-tech, I thought it may have been overpriced a bit. However, I would still buy it for I have always liked a percolator cup of coffee and it's ease of use.
