The first year after we adopted our cat, we fed her the regular adult formula. But being an indoor cat, Persia began to pick up a couple of pounds and our vet suggested trying a light formula (in addition to more activity). Since we were already using Hill's Science Diet dry, we just picked up the Light formula and Persia continued to eat it without complaint.. I did notice that she didn't eat quite as much as she had previously, so maybe it isn't quite as tasty. But, she also didn't reject it completely so I knew she was getting the right amount of nutrition in a lighter formula. She didn't lose weight right away. However, when it was time for her next annual physical she had dropped a pound. Within 3 years she met her goal weight of 12.8 pounds and she's kept at that weight for 2 years now. All in all, I think this is a great choice for an indoor kitty who could stand to lose a couple of pounds.

You might be wondering why I didn't give Hill's Science Diet Adult Light Formula Dry Cat Food a rating of 10, since it was prescribed by our Veterinarian. Well, it all started when my cat got attacked by a neighborhood gang of wild street cats. He was hurt, so we took him to the vet. She sewed him up, gave him some medicine, and said, come back in two weeks, once he's had some time to heal, and we will put him on a diet. He was about 10 pounds overweight! We followed a carefully prescribed diet, which consisted of specific amounts of Hills Science Diet Adult Light Formula Dry Cat food. There was only one problem. He wasn't losing weight. We tried to keep a close eye on him, to see what he might be doing in between meals, and we caught him trying to eat a plastic toy. We continued to notice that he would try to eat practically everything within his view, that he could fit into his mouth. This of course rendered the diet pretty much useless. Of course, it's still important to feed him highly nutritious food. It's just that we have sort of given up on expecting him to lose weight. Quality of Ingredients The ingredients are highly nutritious. Flavor Selection Both of our cats like the taste.

I was recommended Science Diet cat food for my kitten the first time I took him to the vet, and I have used it ever since. At first I was kind of shocked and upset about the price, and had to double check with my vet that it would be the right choice for me on an everyday use, and after a bit more reassurance we went with it. I have to say I'm very glad I did because now my cat is almost 15 years old, and is still almost as alert and fit as he was when he was a kitten! I have seen many cats who age and gain a lot of weight, but this never seemed to happen to my cat Oliver. I switched formula's to this formula when he was about two years old, and the adult formula seems to be enjoyable for him and like I said seems to keep him full of nutrition and full in general. Overall I'd recommend this brand of pet food for anyone because even though it is more expensive than some of the other brands, it is very effective and worth it.

We have 2 cats and one of them has been overweight for a number of years. We think she's got some kind of anxiety or something because she eats catfood like she's never going to eat again (and believe me, we feed her at least a couple of times a day, so it's not like she's starving or anything). Several months ago, I decided to make a concerted effort to help our little grey beast lose a bit of weight (so that she can be healthier and live longer). We put her on the Science Diet diet and it has actually worked. She's not ready to go on the cat runway or anything, but she's lost a couple of pounds and now she's maintaining. Now we just have to get her old lady self to exercise more!
