Not For Carpets or Pet Owners

I am always on the lookout for a good vacuum, especially a small, lightweight one that can get into small spaces. I thought the Hoover Flair Bagless Stick Vacuum would be the ultimate vacuum for for me but I was sadly disappointed and returned it after only a week. I loved the design of this vacuum right away. It was just so sleek and attractive. It was sleek and slim, and took up very little room. I found it very easy to put together as well. Everything was fine until I started using it. For an expensive vacuum I was expecting better performance. This was good on hardwood and linoleum but I was not impressed with its performance on carpeting, even low pile carpeting. It just didn't do even as good of a job as a cheap sweeper! I also didn't have a great experience with emptying the dust cup. It was a giant pain with the filter which tended to get clogged often with pet hair. Overall, this was not the product I thought it would be for the price. If you do not have pets and have only hardwood or linoleum floors this may be good for you, but if you have pets or carpets give it a pass.

This is a wonderful little vacuum! We keep it in our RV and when we stay at places that have electric hook ups we use this powerful little vacuum for daily clean ups. It is small and doesn't take up much space in our camper. It is easy to store in a small space and very easy to use. The cord is long enough that we can plug it in the middle of the camper and run it everywhere without having to move the plug. The dirt catching cup is very easy to take out and clean. This little vacuum even picks up dog hair. Maneuverability This little vacuum has a swivel head that makes it very easy to move around the furniture and into the corners. Ease of Maintenance This little vacuum is very easy to maintain. All we do is clean the dirt cup out after we use it and it is ready to go again. Suction Performance We take this vacuum camping with us and it does a great job cleaning up sand, dirt, little gravel, dog hair and crumbs in our camper. Versatility This vacuum works great to clean up all the dirt we track into our camper, It even picks up dog hair. Design The design is simple and small. It is very easy to store in the small space of our camper. Durability We have had this vacuum for over 5 years and have had no trouble with it. It works great every time we use it.

I love this vacuum cleaner!! It went about and beyond my expectation. Actually it over achieved my expectations! This vacuum cleaner is so powerful. It cleaned up all dust and dirt and dog hair on my floor after the first time I used. I strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone with pets! UPDATE 06/17/13- This product is still working wonders! I am still in love with this product; we welcomed a new pet to our home an Alaskan malamute! Boy is he a shedder and I am still having no issues with this vacuum! He sheds so much and there is so much hair everywhere from him and I have to use the vacuum every two days because he sheds so much and normally most vacuum cleaners die after a couple of uses this vacuum is still going strong! Hoover will be my new product for life! My mom always used Hoover and I always used Bissell, and let me tell you thanks to my mom I finally have a vacuum cleaner that does not stop working when I used my Bissell I had to get 3 new ones in the matter of a year with my dogs! Thanks Hoover for the fantastic products!

Compact and portable but not my favorite appliance.

Overall this is an acceptable product if you can find it at a good price. Not great for whole house cleaning but ideal for small and quick jobs. Maneuverability Pretty straightforward. Not overly maneuverable but decent compared to some cheaper versions I have owned in the past. Ease of Maintenance Dust receptacle fills very quickly and makes a mess every time I empty. Almost once per vacuum cycle. Suction Performance On par with a lot of other vacuums of this type. Have to go over the same items multiple times. Versatility Easy to use in a variety of applications. One of the benefits of this vacuum. Design Much better than older models. It is not constantly getting clogged like ones I've owned in the past. Durability Still hanging in there after four years of abuse. I sense that the motor has slowed down some with age but overall very acceptable. No cracks or broken parts.

Bought new in Dec 2012. Used the vacuum 3 times for appx. 500' sq hardwood floor and a short pile 5' x 8" area rug. On the third use the main suction motor quit after about 2 minutes of use. The vent air felt super hot. It would not start up again for about 2 hours. The power head still spins freely when the main motor overheats. The power heard is not clogged/bound with hair or string. Additionally, the power head seems bound and will not pivot easily. I have to manually adjust the angle and after a few passes I have to adjust the angle manually again. Good idea but pathetic engineering. I wouldn't consider another one or recommend it to others. Maneuverability The power head seems bound and will not pivot easily. I have to manually adjust the angle and after a few passes I have to adjust the angle manually again. A real pain. Suction Performance Suction was great but it is a vacuum so... Versatility Overheats and suction motor quits after a couple of minutes. Not very versitile Durability 3 uses before it broke. Durable is not a word i would use for that kind of performance

It picks up cat sand and hair easily. Swivel head makes it easy to get arount kitchen table etc. I have a black kitchen rug in front of the sink and it keeps it clean and black. Maneuverability Swive lhead makes it easy to move around things Suction Performance Great Suction Versatility Use it on tile and small rugs. Have not tried it on carpet. Use it mainly to pick up cat sand and a quick sweep of the kitchen tiles. Design Like the disign. Very sleek.

This Hoover Flair Vacuum not worth a second look.

The Hoover Flair Stick Vac is a great idea that never fulfills it's promise. Right out of the box, it was easy to put together and it looked great. The swivel was a nifty idea and it was able to get around the furniture. The cord was long and the suction was good. Sure it was so loud it left my head buzzing, but I was willing to overlook that. Then I turned on the brush and it was near unbearable it was so loud and so hard to push. For a light weight, it was pretty heavy and left my shoulder fatigued after a whole house vacuum. And the engine burned so hot I was worried it would burn out. The second it touched the moulding it left a bright red smudge! I can't get it out! Then it cracked and within a few months fell apart totally! Maneuverability I had no problem getting this around the floor and it was easy to get around furniture. Ease of Maintenance The filter would get sucked into itself and the dirt would get trapped. I had to pull it all apart and use an old tooth brush to get it clean. Quite a mess! Suction Performance The suction is great, but if the bottom falls off the stick (which is what happended to us) then that doesn't mean a thing. Versatility It is what it is. You can't do carpets very well and it doesn't turn into a hand vac like many of them. Durability This Hoover stick vac cracked within the first week and totally broke apart after a few months. I did use it every day, but I would expect at least a couple years of use. Also, the paint came of it onto the walls and trim and I can not to this day get the smudges off!! This is very unacceptable to me!

OVERHEATS

We have two of these, one in NH and one in FL. Both of them overheat after about 20 minutes of use. They need to cool down for over two hours before they can be used again. Otherwise, their are very convenient, at least for just a little job.

After much research on my part, we had high hopes for our Hoover Flair. We hoped that it would take good care of our new hardwood and porcelain tile floors and it did a pretty good job. Unfortunately, in just seven months, it DIED! Something plastic broke inside and it just wouldn't suck any more. My husband is good repairing things, but he just shook his head and said it would cost more to fix than it was worth. We have three other vacuums, a canister, an upright, and a hand-held. The Flair got used a lot for dust bunnies and corners-not too much to ask. Since our hand-held has a short hose and I can attach a wand and appropriate head, I can do the same thing with just a little more effort. Our canister can also be used for these purposes so I won't be replacing this unit anytime soon and I certainly will be paying close attention to sturdiness when I do.

Average vacuum not as good as some

This Hoover vacuum we have had for a while. It is definitely average. It doesn't seem to have as good of suction as it first did when we got it a few years ago. It still suctions but sometimes I have to go over a spot a few times to get everything. The bagless portion canister is easy to clean and dump. The cord is long but heavy and can get in the way if you don't use it the right way. Overall there are definitely better small bagless vacuums out there that work way better than this one. I'll continue to use it until it stops working or suctioning but I won't buy this vacuum anymore and I won't recommend it to anyone especially since it didn't last for as long as my other vacuums have lasted.
