Great Substitue if you can't afford a Chi

Got this for Christmas. Nice and works almost as good as a Chi. The iron gets hot enough for my thick, coarse hair. Since I have a lot of hair it takes a while to straighten but it works well. I would definitely recommend this product if the Chi brand is to expensive.

Ok for the price

I heard good things about Hot Tools. My sister in law is a hairdresser so she recommended Hot Tools if you are on a budget. It take me awhile when I start to use a new flat iron to get used to it. After a few tries I was getting used to it. It worked relatively well. It straightened my hair rather nicely and smoothly. However I have a natural wave in my hair and at times it is difficult to totally straighten. Unfortunately, this particular model was not able to totally straighten my hair. It also gave more of a flat look. I like when a flat iron is able to give the hair a little round edge brush blow out look. This model did not give that style. It was more of a dull straight look. I think for the price you pay for it's a decent model. I was able to get a better model for much more significant money and no longer use the Hot Tools model. But I would definitely consider this brand if you are on a budget. It gets the basic job done, I just like a more polished look.

Ok if you like to straighten repeatedly

My hair is thick and fine, and has a slight wave to it. My hair stylist gave me a short haircut, but I had to straighten it to make sure it looked decent. I wasn't thrilled with having to buy a flat iron just because of my new do, but this one was affordable and it does a decent enough job with enough effort. I just don't think it does a GREAT job. Effectiveness After using this product for a year, I feel it doesn't heat up fast enough to get the results I desire. It will get quite warm to the touch, and I feel as though it should be hot enough to do a great job, but I'm always disappointed after my hair doesn't get as straight as my hairdresser can get it. To get the same results, I have to straighten, and straighten, and straighten the same section of hair. I wish I would have spent the extra money and just gone with the top of the line brand. Durability I'm not sure how durable it can be if I never liked the initial results. It heats up the same as it always has, but just not to my liking for getting my desired hair style. It hasn't broken, but just not too impressed with it. Will not be buying again.

Don't waste your money

My hair salon highly recommended I purchased this to straighten my hair. Does it, yes, but user beware. I have had my hair destroyed by this tool. First of all, a straightener should not pull your hair out or cause your hair to snap because it gets caught in a metal plate. These things are supposed to be designed to quickly glide across dry hair and leave it straight. Let me emphasize qucikly. You don't want to fry your hair. Unfortunately, this hair tool doesn't meet this discription at all. My hair is constantly getting caught on the face plate due to poor design and it doesnt glide easily across what appears to be floating plates that jerk around, at least not before getting caught and causing huge amounts of smelly steam to come whirling around from burning my hair. I had to stop using this dangerous straightener and threw it out because it was damaging my hair. Don't buy this or you will regret you did. Effectiveness To be fair, it does straighten hair. It will also destroy it for you as an added bonus! Durability I have to rate this poor because I do not think the metal heating plates are a safe design. I have since purchased a different straightener and no not have a issue with hair getting caught or the iron sticking in spots as I try to glide it quickly through my hair. This iron was poorly designed and I am glad I decided to give another brand a try. Buy a ceramic one that doesnt have plates that shift. Experience the difference. Your hair will thank you!

I love hot tools

I have had this hair straightener for about 6 years now. I have very curly and frizzy hair and it helps get it completely straight for the day. I also have the thicker one as well as this thin one that helps me get it straight faster and eliminates all the bumps. I would recommend this to anyone as it is durable and easy to use and adjust the settings.

***I have very kinky, curly hair and this flat iron is the only one that works for me. It straightens my think hair with ease and heats up very quickly. It is affordable and very easy to use & maintain. I would recommend this product to any woman but for mixed/black girls Hot Tools is the Tool use!***

This flatg iron is fantastic

I love this flat iron and i have had it for seven months now. I have a hot tools curler. I love i. So i knew that this would be a good flat iron. It is kind of big but not that heavy. If you like to curl and straighten your hair with a flat iron, this is not the flat iron for you. My hair is naturally straight but has some unpleasant waves in it so i like to straighten them out. Since I only need to straighten only some chunks of my hair usually like to change the heat temperature. So it has a heat setting. This straightens so good and i only need to go over one chunk of my hair once. I hope you found this review helpful.

Hot Tools: great value!

My love for Hot Tools started with a curling iron I bought at Marshall's for about half its retail price. From there I purchased a hair dryer, another curling iron, and a small travel straightener. It's a little guy (about one inch wide and 10 inches long) but gets the job done. I saw it at Marshall's one day and thought, why not? After one use I knew my money was well spent. It's small so it does take a bit longer then a normal sized flat iron but it also makes it super easy to travel with. The iron heats up quickly (1-2 minutes) and takes me about 5 minutes to do my whole head (I have a lot of hair which falls about halfway down my back). The iron does heat up to a very high temperature so I always make sure I put some kind of product in my hair prior to using it to protect it from damage.

great for fine and/or curly hair - Hot Tools flat iron

4

The Hot Tools Professional Flat Iron is great for straightening my fine, wavy hair. It takes about a minute for the straightener to warm up, and, because of its wide places, it only takes ten minutes to straighten my hair. Afterwards, my hair feels silky and smooth, and it remained straight for a very long time! The straightener does get extremely hot, and I would not recommend turning the heat all the way up - your hair will break off, especially if you have fine hair. Unfortunately, my Hot Tools flat iron only worked for a year before I had to replace it with another one. I would recommend this product for those who have thick hair, and those who are in need of a quick routine - it really works!

Hot tools flat iron

I bought one of these flat irons about 3 years ago, big mistake. I guess I thought because I bought it at a hair salon that this was a good quality. Wrong. It would get so hot that it would fry my hair. It also would pull my hair while I was straightening my hair. It was just cheaply made. Maybe it was the plates or just my flat iron but I will never buy one again, I kept it for about a year until it died. It was the best thing that happened. I upgraded to a different brand and I will never go back! My sister bought her daughter the same one and she said she had the same problem. So I'm assuming that its the brand. I think people like it because they don't know any better. I was like that! I liked it at first but thats because I didn't know what the better made ones were like. I would tell anyone who asks not to get this and to save their money and upgrade to a better one that will last longer and do a better job.
