Very Disappointed

2

We bought this dishwasher because it was on sale during Labor Day and it matched the other Kenmore appliances we were buying at the time. This was our first purchase of stainless steel appliances, and even within the Kenmore brand, the quality of the stainless steel varies greatly. The stainless panel on the front of the dishwasher is thick, but loosely wrapped around the front so it "bounces" if you press on it. While trying to remove the plastic protective film that comes on it, I cut my finger badly on the side where the steel wrapped around the door. The plastic was tucked in the side where you could not easily pull it out, and in the process of trying to get it out I lightly rubbed my finger on the side of the door. The steel is a raw cut edge on that side and it made a deep cut on my finger. This was alarming, as it is an easily accessible spot and with a toddler around I was very worried she would cut her finger if she grabbed the door down there. I put electrical tape over the edge to protect it. Then, within a year the front of the stainless steel started developing rust spots. We now have three areas of growing rust. We have never used acids or harmful cleaning agents in our home. I have only cleaned the front with vinegar and a microfiber cloth. Hugely disappointing. We've now had the dishwasher three years, and occasionally the motor makes a straining sound that does not sound good. We are a small family of three, so I only run the dishwasher once or twice a week, at most. I would never buy this dishwasher again, and it has turned us off to stainless steel appliances.

This Kenmore tarnishes the name, as well as my dishes

I've never really believed that dishwashers actually work. I've owned a few in my life and never was able to successfully put a dirty dish in and have it come out clean without baked on food and dissapointment. This model is no exception. The eco settings are great, but quality is sub par. Honestly after my initial test, i only use it to store cleaned dishes by hand. There are exceptions to this rule, as I do fully clean the dishes and then run them through the sanitizing cycle just for my personal peace of mind. The dishwashing detergent cap doesn't like my cascade detergent and happens to always have water in it, causing the detergent to cake up and harden, defeating the purpose of this process. It's a frustration but it's also out of warranty and I can't bring myself to paying someone to fix this thing. I love sears products and Kenmore is not an exception, but this model should be avoided.

I only go with Kenmore!!!

In remodeling our kitchen, the dishwasher was the first appliance that we purchased. I love the stainless steel look, but unless you get the brushed metal, watermarks do show on the face. I have enjoyed not needing to rinse, although I still do. There is a sanitize cycle which is a great feature if the dishes have sat in there a bit longer than should. I think that the pots and pans cycle is the one I use the most, and I never use the heated dry...I will most certainly continue to outfit our kitchen with Kenmore Pro and Elite. Prices are always right, especially with the friends and family discounts.

Actually cleans the dishes

5

After buying a house in December 2008 we got a lot of new appliances.  The Kenmore Stainless Steele Dishwasher is amazing.  It has a sanitizer feature for those who like to wash their dishes before hand but like to sanitize them, a top rack only feature which is awesome for those small loads on nights where you just cant find the energy to do the dishes.  Now our old dishwasher was ancient and I was so excited to finally have a dishwasher that cleans.  I am one of those people that will somewhat leave food on the plates, like ketchup ect.  I dont like to rinse them or clean them with soap before hand because to me thats the dishwashers job.  So I am quite surprised that it actually gets them cleaned and the trap at the bottom of the dishwasher is very very easy to clean out.  I havent had any problems with this dishwasher except it takes a bit longer than my old one but like I said the old one was ancient.  So overall I would recommend this product!

Not completely happy with our Kenmore Dishwasher

3

We purchased this after having a Kitchen Aid for several years. Our old one was outdated and rather loud so we chose this in stainless steel to match our other appliances. It was on sale and fit our budget at the time but I wish we had considered spending more for a better quality dishwasher. We've had this just a little over a year and some of the end pieces on the upper rack are already starting to rust. Also, the silverware holder has broken out in the bottom so one of the compartments is not even usable. The rotator piece in the bottom hits another part every time it spins around and has left marks in the bottom plus it's extremely noisy and annoying when it bangs against the side of the dishwasher. I don't expect this to last another year at the rate we are going. We have a family of 6 and use it daily. It does clean well but that's all I can say about it that's good. I would pass on this one.

I don't even have to rinse my dishes!

This machine was given to us nearly 3 years ago. We kept it in storage for a brief period and then installed it in our new home. The machine works great! I don't even need to rinse my dishes. I love the water miser feature and the no heat drying options because it saves energy and saves me money!
