Potty training is such a job. Potty training a boy seems to be even more difficult. I bought this toilet training chair for my son, and he absolutely loves it. It has made everything so much easier. The fact that it's Sesame Street, makes him want to use the potty chair even more. Elmo is a great teaching tool.

We are currently in the middle of potty-training our 2 1/2 year old son. I do have to admit this potty chair is part potty, part toy. But, it's for kids and I think that is helpful for them. Elmo has about 10 phrases he says to kids. Kids can give him a high-five and he will encourage and praise them. I appreciate this part as it makes my son more interested in the potty. If you don't like this, it can be turned off. I also like the set-up of this potty chair. It has just enough on the sides and back to make it comfortable. The seat can be removed and placed on a regular toilet if needed. This makes the potty portable, as well. After you remove the seat, the basin is easily removed with a handle. It's very easy to empty and clean. As we are training a boy, we appreciate the removable splash gaurd, too! Finally, when the child is finished using the chair as a potty, it can be easily converted into a small step-stool. I really like the fun, practical nature of this chair.

The kolcraft Sesame Street 1-2-3 Learn with me Potty Chair was a great dissapointment. My son that it was pretty cool but I did not like it at all! Elmo was so annoying and if my sons legs touched it it would go off the whole time he was on it. At some point the potty kept going off for no reason so we just shut it off. I also found it very hard to clean. I had to take the top off and dump the pan. The annoying part was that the plastic tabs where hard to fit back in on the potty's top. They started to bend and it was really hard to line up. The elmo on the front was hard to clean. My son had many accidents when he "almost" make it to the potty for #2 and he would go down the front of the potty. The plastic elmo was textured aand so hard to clean after his accidents. I never got to the stage where we used it as a stool and seat for the big potty. I hrew the whole thing out as soon as my son could use the big potty.

It was time to get a potty chair to have around when my daughter was ready to start thinking about using the potty. My brother-in-law's family has this potty chair because his daughters are big Elmo fans (who isn't, really!). My daughter liked playing with it while at their house so my husband picked this one for us too. She doesn't use it a lot yet but it has worked well for us so far. Kids can give Elmo a high-5 after pottying and Elmo will praise them in various ways. My daughter likes this part! We also like that the seat is removeable so we can up it on our regular toilet so she doesn't fall in. That way we don't have to buy another seat for the regular toilet either. This potty can also be used as a step stool. This is a really nice aspect for us! My daughter wants to help do everything and just isn't tall enough. This is pretty secure since it has anti-skid grippers on it too. We haven't used the sticker and chart yet so I don't know if it'll help motivate my daughter or not.

  When my daughter's pediatrician told us to purchase a potty chair to get our then 18 month old used to sitting on the potty, we thought, how could we go wrong with Elmo?  She was pretty excited with the new plaything.  Yep, that's what it became: a new toy to entertain herself while mommy was in the bathroom. By the time she was ready to start learning (at almost 3 1/2 years old), she could care less about Elmo.  Luckily there is a switch on the bottom of the potty chair to turn Elmo off.  Also Elmo is there for the child to 'high five' after they do their duty, but you will quickly find out that Elmo will not only be constantly played with, but everytime your child sits down on the potty, the child's legs will hit it. When it came to dumping the potty out, I had to remove the top and pull the bucket out to dump it in the toilet.  It was a pain to do, but not horrible.  The biggest nuisance in regards to this potty?  Cleaning it.  The big plastic Elmo on the front is awful to try to clean.  There are so many nooks and crannies for dirt to settle there that it just gets disgusting.  Unless you just really enjoy detail cleaning, then don't buy this potty. The potty does turn into a stepstool, and you can put the 'seat' on a regular sized toilet.  However, the seat seems a little unsafe (in my opinion) when you put it on the regular toilet.  If you want a seat and a stepstool, just buy them individually.

The Kolcraft Sesame Street 1-2-3 Learn with Me Potty Chair Toilet Training seat has been a big hit in our house.  Who doesn't love Elmo?  Well, my kids sure do.  My son used this chair while he was potty training and it was very motivating to hear Elmo praise him when he gave him a high five.  I think he would have used it longer except that he physically outgrew it, but he is a rather tall child.  The only thing I don't love about it is the how it comes apart.  Every time you need to empty the seat you take off the lid and dump the contents.  When you're done you have to align the seat perfectly or it won't attach right.  Other than that this has been great for our family.  My daughter is about to start training and she is very escited to get to use the Elmo potty chair!  She is smaller so the size shouldn't be an issue.  Now if only the Kolcraft Sesame Street 1-2-3 Learn with me potty chair would do the training for us!  Now that would be amazing:)
