6-Year Review
In 2010, we purchased a new LG W/D set (with stands) from the local big box store here in Scottsdale, AZ and there are three members of the HH. Normal activity is 4-5 loads per week. Washer model WM2277HS for those curious. Pros: Nice styling, energy efficient, water efficient, higher spin rates than a traditional top-load washer and the ability to heat water. Cons: We have experienced five issues in six years (unreliable), cannot use the higher spin rates on towels, rugs, or small loads as the machine will jerk badly and start walking across the floor, less water, only one year warranty for most parts. Details: We have now had the fifth break in five years and I am frustrated after speaking with LG Service. In order: motor sensor, lower housing, machine drain pump, heating element, and now the drain pump again! Thoughts: A washing machine should be worry free for ~20 years plus, and I am of the mindset that more water leads to cleaner clothes (within reason). I would agree that if you can spin the clothes faster thereby reducing the amount of retained moisture... the drying time is less and this is a good feature. Simply put, I paid more for the LG W/D set than I would have for a conventional set believing that LG makes good equipment and these should be 'of better design'... they are simply NOT. LG front loaders are fine when they work, but this has not been my experience. Hopefully yours is better.
