COLOR TOO DARK

2

I use L'Oreal's hair color (Light Brown only) products exclusively and love the permanent color kit and root spray. I purchased this product in Light Brown and it turned my hair black. I am very upset and don't even want to leave my house! On the positive side, the applicator is an outstanding innovation and the handy pop out circle on back to hold the applicator when mixing the solution is a great bonus! Unfortunately, I won't be using this again.

L'Oreal Paris Root Rescue does not cover gray hair well.

2

L'Oreal Paris Root Rescue does not cover gray hair well. I bought this product to cover my gray roots because the product I usually use was out of stock in my color. I was actually looking forward to trying it because it (theoretically) looked light it would be easier to use than my usual brand. This product comes in a tube type container that has a comb/applicator at the end. The other brand has a small tray. You mix the two parts together in the tray, then dip the brush/applicator in it and apply. But with L'Oreal, you don't have to dip. You just apply it right from the container. OK. That's sounded great in theory, but in practice, it just didn't work. It was very hard to get the product applied evenly and thoroughly on my hair. The "dip and brush" method was much easier and much more effective. Then, there was the effectiveness of the coloring product itself. L'Oreal Paris Root Rescue just doesn't cover the gray well. It's kind of like it is too weak. I have very dark brown hair. And my white/gray hairs show lots of contrast with the dark brown. After using this product, it was more like gray hairs that were lightly tinted brown. It might work for other hair types or other hair colors. But for me, this was a failure!

L'Oreal Paris Root Rescue needs its own rescue!

I thought it would be a good idea to use this product to touch up my roots so I did not have to redye all of my hair again. What a bad idea! It is one that I seriously regret! The color did not match my all over color at all. I chose a color from Root Rescue that was the same as the color I did all over. The original color was also from L'Oreal Paris, so it should have been matched to the color I chose from Root Rescue (since it was exactly the same). I even check and re-checked in the store to make sure that it was. I ended buying more all over dye to do my hair all over again to make it look the same all over! I would not recommend purchasing the product. It makes more sense to just redye your hair all over again. Effectiveness The color matching is terrible. It is not effective in any way. Ease of Application The application process is a little confusing and not as easy as they make it out to be on the box. It is also a little messy.

My favorite hair coloring product

For ease of application and depth of color, this is the best of the root touch-up formulas that I've used. Effectiveness The color is rich and covers my grays. It also lasts longer than other root touch up formulas I have tried, all of which tend to wash out over a period of weeks. I do habitually leave the color on for 15 minutes as opposed to 10 in order to be certain my stubborn grays are covered. I like that this formula allows for subtle tones and shades to come through. It looks very natural, not like a block of monochrome hair that looks very obviously dyed. Ease of Application The ease of application is the main reason I opt for this brand. The tube-applicator with a comb-like dispenser at the end really is mess-free. There is just enough dye in the bottle to cover my roots in the front, sides, and other obvious areas without a lot of excess leftover. The formula is also thick enough not to drip, splatter, or otherwise make a mess. It has less ammonia smell than typical dyes.

Ease of Application At first I was scared of applying the product but then I became more confident. It's so easy to do.

Works well to cover greys between professional treatments

4

I generally get my greys covered with an overall color with highlights every 10-12 weeks; I wait that long because salon treatments are pretty costly. I usually begin needing my roots covered up about 8 weeks after a professional treatment, and decided to try L'Oreal Paris Root Rescue. I tried shade 6R, which is a little redder than my hair, but I liked it. The directions were easy to follow and it was a cinch to apply. I had more than enough product to cover the roots along my part and the sides of my hair. It wasn't messy or smelly at all. After 15 minutes I shampooed it out and when I styled my hair I was pleased to see the grey was covered and my hair looked shiny and healthy. The color began to fade after 3 to 4 weeks, but by then I was able to get to my professional stylist. I have purchased this product about half a dozen times and had success every time except once. That time, I believe I didn't leave the product on long enough and the only thing I noticed was that they grey wasn't covered up quite enough. Overall, I am really pleased with this product. It saves me money and produces a nice result. In fact, I'm surprised that there are so many other negative reviews here when I have had repeated success! Ease of Application This product is very easy to apply. The instructions are clearly laid out and the kit comes with gloves so you don't get your hands dirty. It doesn't smell, sting or stain your skin.

L'Oreal Root Rescue Needs Revamping

3

L'Oreal Root Rescue is a product intended to cover gray and natural hair color roots by using a cute little blue contraption that separates the strands of hair so that the dye covers the hair better. However, this does not work this way. First, the contraption (a mini comb) does not evenly separate the strands of hair, making it possible that you miss several sections of hair. The second issue is that the dye is not strong enough to provide the color that is needed to touch up. It is weak and you may either need to leave it on for a longer time (which is not good), or you will end up using this product almost three times a month. Whenever I need to touch up my roots I simply use regular hair color and, during my blondest days, I would just do the entire thing over. In not so many words, this product has good intentions but the combination of product quality and method of application just do not gel together. I would only use this product if you have very short hair and even short-haired friends of mine do not do root touch up with products that come with the comb. Either way, always be weary of products that claim to fix the issue that they claim to fix with such convenience and ease. In the world of hair, we know very well that no single product is 100% effective on its own. Effectiveness It just does not do what it says it will: the comb does not properly gather all of the strands of hair and tends to miss some chunks of it. The ingredients do not set strongly enough to effectively cover the roots. Ease of Application Easy enough, but is it effective? No. The process misses on some sections of hair and you run the risk of the job coming out quite uneven.

Good concept, not an amazing product though... I am sure you can find better products for your roots! Although this was a great idea to give customers a comb to even rescue their roots, it did not really show the color on my hair! I would think it would be better and give me good results but I rather stick to Redken!!! I kinda regret using this product on my hair because now I have to wait 6 months to touch it up again, so with that note I do not recommend this product to people... Try using a nother brand. I really suggest Redken, that is the best hair dye I ever used on my hair, takes a while to fade and the color lasts so long! So me, I rather stick with my Redken then downgrade to Loreal for a cheaper price to get sucky quality! this is a no-go for me. Effectiveness Could not even tell that I touched up my roots, I do not like this fact at all! Would not recommend. Ease of Application Easy with the brush to apply but not really what I was expecting results-wise...
