I am extremely impressed with this Lasko Portable Cyclonic Ceramic Heater. We moved in to our home 4 years ago, in the late fall. We were having some issues with our furnace and we weren't sure how hard it would be to fix. We went out and purchased two of these heaters from Lasko to help heat the space until we could get the furnace issue worked out. I was immediately impressed. These little machines take up very little space, put out a good amount of heat and are programmable to either come on and heat the room to a certain temperature or to run for a specific amount of time before shutting off. We put a heater in each of our children's rooms. I felt comfortable having these in their rooms and I wouldn't ordinarily feel safe with a space heater in a child's room. These, however, were not hot to the touch, didn't require additional clearance around the unit to be safe (though we did provide it) and shut off if knocked over. When we were using these primarily for heat, we set them to a specific temperature and let them run as needed. Now that our furnace is no longer a problem, we use these to warm up the kids' rooms before they go to bed. We set them to run for 1 to 3 hours depending on how cold it is outside and they shut off after that. I like knowing we aren't wasting electricity by having them run all night and the kids like getting into bed in a room that is a little warmer than we like to keep the bedrooms for sleeping. After having our units for a year one of them stopped working. My husband contacted Lasko. They asked that we snip the cord off of the unit and mail it to them along with the model name and number of our unit. We received a replacement via UPS within a week. Their customer service was outstanding!

This Lasko model heater is the one in which we current have in our living room. It appears to heat up the room well and have different options to adjust the temp up or down. It is simple to use and keeps us toasty at night when it gets cooler. We have enjoyed the lever that allows heat to be distributed up or down so that it is not always pointing right on us. The unit is a little large, but can be tucked away easily as it is not very heavy to move around. Overall, we have enjoyed it much and even have used it in our kids' bathroom as a backup when they are taking their baths. Performance Seems to warm the room to the temperature indicated. Ease of Use Easy to adjust the temp with the + or - buttons. Durability Have moved it around our house and have not had any problems with it. Design Seems a little large, but lightweight. We also enjoy the up/down lever to adjust the positioning of heat flow. Safety Regulates to the temp indicated so no overheating.

We purchased one and liked it so well that we purchased 2 more. We have a large house but only use 3 rooms. These heaters let us keep the thermostat set down and still stay comfortable in the rooms we use.

If you have a really large room you want to heat up, this heater would be good for supplemental heat, but not as the main source of heat for that room. I bought one a couple years ago to add heat to a large storage room over our garage. There is no heat in that room at all. The heater helped warm it up a bit in that room, but not enough that you would be truly comfortable. However, in a smaller room, with the doors closed, it would do a better job. What is nice about this heater is that it does not get too hot to the touch, like many other space heaters do. Nice around children and pets. And, if you knock it over accidentally, it will automatically shut off. Very nice feature to have! The control options are also a nice feature.

The Lasko brand is the only way to go .So far i own two models the 5800 which i have owned a couple of years The 6405 is my newest model, Great looking heater . My big home uinit 2.5 ton never came on last night. these two Heaters kept it 74 in the house while the thermostate for the central unit sat on 71.. ..I checked the weather and it was 37 Degrees out side I plan to purchase another 6405 this week

My family and I love this heater.  We purchased two of them when we first moved in to this home two years ago. We loved that they don't require a lot of clearance (other objects can be close to them without danger), they don't get too hot to touch and they are easy to use. We have two children who were 3 and 6 when we bought them. We haven't had to worry once about our children getting burned on these heaters.  After using our two for about 3 months one of them stopped working. We contacted Lasko and they asked us to snip off the plug on the faulty heater and mail it to them along with a customer claim number that they gave us over the phone. We mailed them the plug and within a week we had a brand new heater sitting on our front steps.  That heater has now serviced our home for 2 winters while the original has worked for us for 3 winters.  We were impressed by the great customer service given to us by Lasko.  My favorite feature of these heaters is the timer function.  We use one in each of our children's bedrooms. Our upstairs is heated by a gas furnace but in our efforts to save money and resources we have turned the heat down lower this year than normal. My kids are warm under their covers during the night but they are a little chilly when they first go to bed at night. Thanks to the timer function I can turn their heaters on and set them to stay on for 1, 2 or 4 hours while their rooms warm up. I typically leave their heaters on for an hour at bedtime.  Over all, these work great!  They are not intended to heat a large space and they don't suffice for our bedroom which has 15 foot ceilings and a few hundred square feet.  They work great for our children's rooms though.

This is the first heating unit we own and we have used it for 3years and the heater is still strong and working. Structure and quality of the unit is very well made. Firstly the temperature control is via thermostat so the room temperature stay controlled and very comfortable. There is a timer and a 'quiet' function so it will be especially useful for night time while you sleep. The display is illuminated and clear. The heater airflow direction can be adjusted by the louver next to the heating grill. I especially like the design of the heater, it can be easily place near a wall or any corner of the room and it just blend with your house. But because of the size it is not portable, and because of the height, I cannot just warm up my feet. I have to get another smaller unit to bring with me everywhere inside the house, and warm my feet immediately. Nevertheless the Lasko Cyclonic Ceramic Heater has helped us save some electicity bills.

We purchased this heater as a suppliment to our whole house heat for our living room.  I'll say for the record that our living room is 22 x 30, with an 11 ft. ceiling.  We live in an old (1897) house with many original windows.  Our upstairs gets extremely hot in the winter and first level is always cold due to the type of heat we have.  We hoped this would add enough heat to the living room to make it comfortable and keep the thermostat from always kicking on at night and over powering the heat upstairs.  While the unit had some great ideas with the temp. control and the directional heat, we found it to lack durability.  the heavy duty construction was NOT there and it was obviously not made to last for years just  due to the lightweight construction.  We knew once we got it running we would be replacing it the next year.  We ran into a problem however when it suddenly died mid-season and we could not get it to run anymore at all.  By this point, we could not find a replacement in stores as many had clearanced those things out in preparation for Spring that was 6 weeks or more away.  we were left with a hefty heat bill, and miserable sleeping nights until we purchased another unit that met our needs.  Sorry, but NOT A POSITIVE PURCHASE!

I bought this yesterday, it ran for about 3 minuets and shutdown. I think did the "unplug to reset" as described by the instruction manual. It reset, then turned off after about 2 minuets. It was warm to the touch, but that was it. The red power light stayed on, but the other displays were blank. I was very disappointed and will return it today. I will not be buying anything from this company again. I also found numerous accounts of this happening to other people as well.

This is by no means a heater meant to substitute heat, but certainly helps! It won't heat an entire house, but we've been able to turn the thermostat down a few degrees, and use the ceramic heater to warm up the room we're in. The Lasko Heater adequately heats our 300 square foot living room, and obviously does a better job in our smaller bedrooms. The unit is lightweight, easily moved and the timer function has been priceless. Slim(mer) profile allows it to be tucked behind the couch or against a wall if we want to get it out of the way. My home office is in our basement, and I can take the heater down there, turn the heater on and twenty minutes later can go down there and not freeze! Controls are decent size and very easy to use. Timer function allows an auto-shut off after 1, 2 or 4 hours. Heater is fairly quiet compared to other heaters we've had. The vent is adjustable a full 90 degrees, nice if you want to warm up the room, or point it directly at yourself. We've used it for 2, going on 3 winters now and haven't noticed any increase in our electric bill (our heat is natural gas). Definitely isn't the most aesthetically pleasing, but I didn't buy it for decorative purposes!
