For a portable dishwasher this one works as good or better than any built in I've ever had. I load it as full as I can possible load it and the dishes always come out clean and sparkling. I don't usually rinse them off before placing in the dishwasher and they still come out clean. I probably overload it because I stack stuff on top of other dishes as long as it doesn't reach the water wand. I really like the easy load soap container. Just drop a tablet in and it's ready to go. Mine has a nice cutting board on the top for extra counter space, which I need since I live in a mobile home. It's pretty noisy when it's running, but probably because it isn't built in to camouflage the noise that the cupboards would add. But, I guess I've gotten used to it because I hardly pay any attention to it anymore. It seems to run for a very long time, but that could be the cycle I always use. Probably a couple hours in all. It has several cleaning cycles like Heavy, Normal, Light and Rinse Only and also has a Sanitize and Heated Dry cycle and a Delayed timer cycle. The one thing I don't like about it is the loading flexibility. The racks, both top and bottom are slotted strange and it's very hard to fit the dishes in them. The prongs aren't spaced consistently so it's difficult to figure out where to put bowls. The width between the rows is varied from narrow to wider. I guess they thought this would make loading more convenient for different sized dishes, but it's really just a pain to try and fit stuff into the rack. I guess this would fall under the interior design of the racks. The outer design is really nice and blends in with my cupboards nicely. The performance is extremely good for a portable dishwasher. I've had built in's in the past that couldn't clean the way this one does. As a matter of fact, I got to the point where I didn't even want a dishwasher in my home because it wouldn't clean the dishes properly. I don't have that problem with this Maytag Portable.
