Great Pump I used for 2+ years

5

I bought this pump right after I had my first child. I only pump 1-2 days a week and it worked very well for me. I like the let down phase and all the levels of suction. It was easy to learn how to use it, and putting the parts together and taking them apart for cleaning is very easy. I like that it can run on batteries as well as plugging into the wall. I have used it standing (it comes with a long strap/string and I found I could put that on my shoulder and still have one hand free to do other things while I pumped) and in the car with out problem. It is small and easy to take along. It does make noise. I do get questions when I use it at work even though I always pump under a shawl, I just see that as my chance to share my love of breastfeeding! I think that this pump is very durable I used it for over two years with two children and it worked very well. One part that is hard to clean is the tubing I have gotten milk in it a few times by not paying attention and over flowing the bottle, It was difficult to clean the milk out of the line and get the line dry again. I would recommend this pump to moms who want to pump occasionally!

great pump

I decided to stay home with my daughter on child-rearing leave right after her birth. Because I was staying home I knew I didnt need a fancy two pump breastpump. I decided on the Medela Swing. I am so glad i did. This pump is perfect for the mom who wants to be able to pump so that she can leave her child for a few hours. The carrying bag is great for putting the pump and bottles into. The  pump comes with an electric adapter but you can also use batteries. I usually use batteries and have not found it to "eat" them. They usually last a while. The soft breastshield included in the kit is comfortable. Although depending on how much you use it you may have to replace it after a few months. No worries though - they are not expensive. The Medela storage containers that come with this kit are also great for traveling. Overall I am very pleased with this pump and would recommend it highly. It is a great tool to have for any breastfeeding mom.

the best pump ever

i just got the medela swing pump a weeks ago and i absolutely love it. it is very light weight. it gives you the option to use batteries or the power cord. it has a hook where you can put the lanyard it brings to carry it around if you want to do some chores. there is a special bra i bought that lets you pump hands free so you are able to use those features. it has a phase 2 let down button and its great! i think its the closest thing to your baby's sucking. you can adjust the speed of suction. the parts are easy to clean and store right back into your medela swing pump bag. this pump also allows you to pump straight into your medela pump and save storage bags. i am a b cup and i pump 5 ounces in 15 minutes. on any other pump (i have tried) it takes twice as much time. we all know as mothers we would love more time, i dreaded pumping because of how long it took, i now am done before i know it.

The Medela Swing pump worked best for me.

5

I tried a couple different pumps when I started breastfeeding. I tried one at the hospital, also Medela, and it worked alright then I switched to a dual pump. It worked ok but I didn't feel like it was powerful enough, I never really got a whole lot of milk out of it. Because I was already using a dual electric pump I was hesitant to switch to a single side swing pump but boy am i glad I did. THis particular pump was perfect for me, I thought it worked much faster and more efficiently. I liked that it started out pumping short and fast and then moved to nice long pumps, it got a lot more milk out. It also vibrates a little bit which I thought was very soothing and I also felt that it made it easier to pump. The other pumps I used were kind of painful. I really loved the medela pump and as a new mother I would recommend this product to any other new moms that don't really know what their doing and really want a great pump.

The Medela Swing Electric Pump is small and convenient.

I really like my Medela Swing Electric Breast Pump. Comfort In terms of comfort I would rate it a 4 out of 5 only because you have to hold the pump to your breast the entire time. Also, if the pump is slightly misaligned it doesn't suction too well. Ease of Cleaning It is very easy to clean. You just have to pull each part off and sterilize it. It's very easy to take apart too. Durability So far I haven't had any issue with durability. It's pretty small but it gets the job done. I've dropped it twice and it still works fine so I would say it's a very durable product. Versatility In terms of versatility let's just say it does what it's supposed to do. Ease of Use It is very easy to use. You just hook the device into an outlet, put all the components of the bottle together and attach it to either and bottle or milk storage bag and you are good to go. I would recommend buying the medela milk storage bag first to get the plastic strap holder then switching to the Lansinoh brand to get the milk storage bags as they are cheaper and have double zip on top.

The Medala Swing Line is a great breast pump. You have th option to either plug it in or use batteries which made it great for on the road or at home. This is good for the occasional pumper. I would not recommed it to a mother that needs to pump a lot because you can only pump one at a time. The dual speed and capability to choose the strength of suction was very nice. Especially when you first start breast feeding because you are more tender.  I only have two negative comments. One is when I pulled it out of the closet 1 yr later to use with my new baby (kids are 22 months apart) it did not work. Of course I moved and it got banged around a bit so it easily could have been my fault. The other is it is kind of loud. The packaging made it sound like you could hide it under a shirt and nobody would know what you where doing. Of course that is far from the truth. First it is loud and second it you have the suction cup and bottle sticking out in front of you.

Recommended by a friend. A good choice

This was recommended to me and have never wished I hadn't gotten it. It is a little pricy but when it comes to breastpumps, you want to spend a little more if you plan on using it alot. I have had it for 3 years and it has gone through multiple children and is still going strong. Was also great when I was working and had only 15 minutes to pump. I also like that it comes with a bag to put everything in which made it much easier to tote with me.

Medela Swing pump is perfect for the occasional pumping mom

5

When I was expecting my first, I had given very little thought to a breast pump; as a full-time homemaker, I didn't think I would need it much. However, shortly after having my son, I realized the benefits of having a pump on-hand for things like engorgement (how did I not think this would happen???), a short date with my husband, or even a quick shopping trip by myself! After a little research, we ended up getting a Medela Swing Pump, and I haven't regretted that decision for a moment. The Medela pumps are pricier than Evenflo, The First Years, etc, but there is a huge difference in quality that makes it well worth it! I have friends who bought a cheaper pump that ended up breaking after just a few uses (one friend even went through three pumps -- by the time you buy that many, you might as well have just bought one Medela!). I liked that this set came with two bottles for storage, as well as a small carry sack that everything fit into easily. I know there are those who complain you can only pump one side at a time, but for the occasional pumper, this shouldn't be a huge issue. If you're going to be pumping frequently and need to streamline your pumping time, then I would recommend shelling out the extra bucks and getting the Medela Pump-in style. I cleaned everything and stored it away and it still worked great with my second son. I even had a three week stint of FULL-TIME PUMPING (meaning pumping both sides every 3 hours) and the pump didn't fail me once. Whenever I buy another pump, you can be sure it will be Medela.

Medela Swing Electric Breast Pump is great

4

The Medela Swing Electric Breast Pump is great. I originally had a different brand and it quit on me after four months. I decided to spend the money on this pump and have never regretted it once. This is a costly pump but the Medela name is what sold me on it. This pump is small and convenient for travel. It has various speed levels that are effective. I like how the pump is battery operated or can be plugged into an electrical outlet. The suction cup and the tubes are easy to clean. However, some of the smaller parts are harder to clean. I've had to get out a Q-tip at times to get into some of the smaller crevices. It does take time to pump since this only allows one breast at a time. However, I couldn't afford to buy a double pump so this does the job for me. The pump can be noisy if you have it on the higher levels. I like how the pump starts of in a pulsing action and then goes to a suction.

so easy to use

I was given this pump at my baby shower, it is the brand I preferred but because it is a single pump is significantly less expensive than the others. It works just fine, but if you decide you want to exclusively pump, it can be time consuming, having to do one side at a time, and the books say you should do both to keep up with supply. I had no problems cleaning the parts. and it was so small, I could throw it in the diaper bag and take with me, if I thought I may be out too long and need to pump again. We soon found out that the low rumble/hum of the pump also put baby to sleep on those nights we couldnt figure out how to soothe him, I would lay in bed near his bassinet and pump, and he would fall asleep almost immediately. The fact that you can pump directly into storage bags or bottles is a great plus! Bags are less bulky to travel with and as long as you use it soon there after or put it in the refridgerator, you are fine. I know I was given this one because it was less expensive, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten the 2 pump breast pump, and stayed with medela brand, it is reliable and I have had no problems.
