Great Coffee Maker

I've had this coffee maker for years and I have loved it. I don't need timers, or fancy thingiemajigs and milk steaming pitchers, or a coffee maker that has it's own special cup or carafe....I just want to put coffee grounds in the basket with a filter, fill the water reservoir and hit a button. This fits my needs. It makes pretty good coffee. The only thing is that it has a quirk. I've kept it clean with vinegar (run it through once every couple of weeks), but if I want five cups of coffee, I have to put six cups of water in it (always have to add a cup of water no matter how many cups). Who knows where that extra cup of water goes! Other than that, I'd highly recommend this coffee maker.

Nice, basic coffee maker

We are not a coffee drinking household. We received this coffee maker for a wedding gift 11 years ago. We use it a few times a year when we have guests for dinner or a party. It works well and makes good, basic coffee. Often, when something isn't used regularly, you pull it out only to find something has gone wrong and it no longer works. Fortunately, this has not happened here. When shopping, we were briefly tempted by the fancy machines with settings for overnight brewing, auto start and stop, etc. I am very glad we picked a basic machine so i don't need to relearn how to use it each time and also our guests can easily use it too. Brew Performance I've been told the coffee is good enough! Ease of Cleaning The parts come off, but I do find the basket at the top is difficult to completley clean. Ease of Use Very simple. Design Very basic design. Durability We've had it 11 years without a problem.

Happy with the purchase

If you are looking for a simple, basic coffee maker then Mr. Coffee 12 cup switch coffeemaker is the one for you. The ground basket leaks at times, but then again it is easy to remove and clean. I don't drink much coffee and I am happy with my purchase. It doesn't have any fancy settings or buttons on it just an Off/On button but It will make good coffee! I have had this coffee maker for like 2 years and still it brews fantastic coffee. It is very durable and works exactly as the manufacturer claims. I bought it on black friday sale and it was a pretty good bargain. Mine is white in color, it looks pretty but gets dirty soon. Next time I will probably buy a black one.

A good, simple coffee maker

I don't drink a lot of coffee (I'm more of a tea person), but I always seem to have people over who like to drink it, so I figured I should get some sort of coffee maker to have on hand. This one seemed to be the more simple, straight forward coffee maker when I was browsing for one at the store...and it wasn't over priced, so I caved and bought it, even without doing any real research on it. Overall I think I'm very pleased with it. When I do use it, it's easy and quick, and I don't have to remember how to do a lot of crazy functions or settings to get a pot of coffee made. I don't use it as much as some people (such as the people who drink coffee every single day), so I didn't want to have to be forced to re-reading the manual every time I plugged it in so I could remember how to use it. It also isn't a hassle to clean, which is a bonus in my book. All you really need to do is remember to remove the filter and wash the coffee pot out normally. That's it! No fancy extended equipment to take a part, sterilize, and put back together like those blasted espresso machines. Since I don't really have much experience with other coffee makers, I can't say how it compares to other people's standards...but it's not terribly loud, it makes coffee well, and it's not too big that it takes up a lot of space. Since these are all pluses in my book, I would recommend it to others.

Basic coffee maker

5

This Coffee maker is as basic as it comes--it just has a switch to turn it on. It was extremely cheap and since I don't need to use it very often, it does the job for coffee when we are entertaining or when my prolific coffee drinking parents come to town. 12 cups is sufficient for them--they only end up making 2-3 pots a day with that amount. The cups are estimated 6 ounce cups which fill our small mug. It takes a standard large sized filter. The coffee is a basic brew, we add roughly a heaping tablespoon of coffee per cup of water. This coffeemaker stays on and hot until you switch it off--again very basic. While we don't make coffee often, this coffee maker has lasted us about 6 years already. I have no complaints.

never ever ever, buy a cheap coffee maker...i bought this for something short term, but it was still a piece of junk...coffee keeps pouring out when you try to take the pot off too soon and it always left my coffee with some wierd bitter taste...like it was too strong...oh and the pot leaked...spilled every where when i poured a cup-daily!!

This Mr. Coffee does the job, but it's just not the best!

I would say this Mr. Coffee 12-cup coffeemaker is basic, functional, and easy to use. It's good for people who just want a cup of coffee to get them going in the morning or who don't expect a real gourmet experience every time they make coffee. I had this coffeepot before replacing it with a higher-end brand. I just don't think it holds the flavor and aroma of the coffee to the extent that other brands or models do, nor does it keep the coffee as steaming hot as I like it. Mine always tended to drip a little water from the basket area, so some water was always sizzling on the heating element when I removed the pot.
