This is the elliptical equipment that my gym has and I love it. It works out your arms as well as your legs, which is the best part - a total body workout. The programs are easy to follow and you can hook up your heart rate monitor to it to track your heart rate. Also, there is an AV plug so you can listen to the audio from the connected TV or listen to your own music. There are channel and volume controls on the monitor. Performance Good performance overall. It's easy to use and the programs are very straight forward. Comfort I'm a petite person (5'2" and 115 lbs). The machine is a little big for me but then again, lots of elliptical and training machines are. It would be nice to have adjustments to the pedals but I don't believe any elliptical machine has that due to safety reasons. Ease of Use There are pre-programmed options as well as a manual option. You can also enter your height and weight for more customized tracking of your calories. Durability The machines have been at our gym for awhile now so I assume they are durable.

I love the nordictrack 990 auto strider. As I've said in previous reviews, I have rods in my back and I can't do a lot of exercises because of it. This machine is amazing. After I had my twins, I needed an exercise machine that could meet my needs, but actually help me lose the weight and I believe this is the one. I looked at many other ones, but after reading reviews and then seeing it for myself, I decided this was the one. It gives you a full body workout and makes you feel like you went to the gym without leaving your house. The assembly wasn't too bad with two people. Keep in mind they do offer a service to have it assembled for you. It has preprogrammed weight loss programs from less difficult to difficult so you or someone else can be comfortable and use it at your own speed. There is a great fold up feature for storage which you don't find with a lot of other machines like this. The ramp on it also helps achieve a more difficult workout if that is what your looking to achieve and the movements are very smooth and easy. I've heard people say it is noisy, but I have not found it to be loud at all. I love it and would definitely recommend it.

I have the luxury of having an on-base gym to go to without membership fees. The gym on our military base has lots and lots of various exercise machines to choose from. My favorite style is the elliptical machine. We have quite a few different brands and models to choose from and the NordicTrack 990 is one of the ones we have. I love the elliptical machine because it gives my entire lower body a great workout without being too hard on my joints. This machine has a large foot base so it can accommodate people of many foot sizes. It also has heart monitor plates installed in the handles to allow you to track your heart rate and be within a target range for yourself. I really like that this machine also has a cup holder that can fit an over-sized water bottle. This is very nice because you do not have to interrupt your workout just to get a drink. This machine has twenty two different resistance levels to push yourself farther making you able to get stronger and leaner. This machine has the ability to go backwards and forwards and has an eighteen inch stride length allowing you to burn more calories during your workout. The screen has a digital display and is easy to navigate for any beginner.

After my second child.. Son in August 2012 and Daughter August 2013.. I without a doubt felt out of shape to begin with. Husband insisted I get an elliptical, if I wanted to get any type of exercise equipment, because that is what he likes to use during winter. Cause who's gonna a run during a snow storm? Lol So to save on gym fees month for both of us. Not did I want someone watching my children, both being under two. We gave in and bought this elliptical! Best decision of my life! Even if you aren't fit or used to it. It is smooth and easy to operate! After a week I was loving it and 'needed' to use it at least 30 minutes a day or I did not feel like I accomplished anything. It has definitely helped me getting back into work out and given me motivation. I have lost 18lbs alone in the first 2 months using this machine! Although it is not just the machine but the effort you put in to achieve such a loss in weight. My husband had no problem setting it up at all, though we couldn't put it in our bedroom due to the plush carpet, it works excellent in our spare room. We had to buy one of those matts to put under it. Well we didn't have to. But I didn't wanna chance ruining the floor. I do not always like using the heart rate monitor as it always yells at me 19-21 minutes into it to slow down.. but I guess that is there so you don't give yourself a heart attack? I have not used the different work outs with the SD cards yet but my husband has and says it's great! Performance Excellent!!! I haven't had any complaints. I did not expect it to be so easy to use. Has made exercising simple in my home so I am near my children but able to get an efficient run in every day without leaving to a gym! Worth every penny! Comfort At first it's obviously a little awkward if you aren't used to an elliptical. You know.. From running on a flat surface to holding bars and pushing steps? Took a couple days to get into a good rhythm. But it was easy and smooth to start. All you need is motivation!!! Ease of Use Easiest way to get back into shape when you need to stay home, or can't get to gym. Great investment. All the money husband has spent at a gym we could of put toward this machine years ago. Durability I haven't had it too long to know the durability entirely. But so far it's great. Obviously you need to care for it like any other product you own. Such as clean and wipe it down. Nor do you wanna intentionally beat it up or allow animals or children to mess with it. Design It gives you everything in a simple design without feeling so overwhelmed you feel like your in an airplane cockpit. Lol!

We have owned a lot of exercise equipment, and I would place this middle of the road at best. It doesn't feel really solid and we noticed that it was creaky from the beginning. Elipticals are pretty low maintenance, and it is still running fine, but it is just not a great machine for the money. This is not commercial quality, nor is it priced that way, so just know that you get what you pay for with exercise equipment.

I bought the NordicTrack 990 Elliptical with the idea that purchasing a home Elliptical was better then was a more convenient idea then a gym membership.  First, the pros, it was not terribly difficult to put together, I like the idea of the integrated ipod speakers, and I really like the idea of having workout programs that are available on SD cards.  The cons, the NordicTrack 990 Elliptical is noisy, when an ipod is not plugged into the installed headphone jack, there tends to be a lot of popping in the speakers, the available workouts on the machine and the external cards do not offer enough diversity. For the most part, the workouts are very similar.  The foot decks feel flimsy and look cheaply made.  However, with all of that being said, it is still way better then most consumer model elliptical machines.  In my case, I use it occasionally, but I spent the extra money and go to a gym for the commercial grade machines.

This elliptical is a great way to get your exercise in for the day.  It is well worth the price and its convenient to have this type of equipment in your home.  It pays for itself after the first year since gym memberships and daycare can become pricey.

I don't enjoy excercise, but this makes for a fun workout. I have had this eliptical machine for over 2 years. For the price I would say it is very good. It is comparable to the type you find at a good gym. I have had to tighten pieces from time to time, and it does not feel as sturdy as those at the gym that cost about 10 times as much. But if you lack the motivation or time to physically go to the gym, then this might be a good solution for you. You just need to devote about 30 minutes to using it. It has held up very well and has some great features on it that others don't, such as a fan, a plug for your MP3 player, and most importantly it incline automatically at the touch of a button instead of stopping and adjusting manually. Pricey, but worth the cost.

The Nordictrac Audiostrider 990 is great for individuals of all sizes and fitness levels.  It feels sturdy and provides a great workout, with many different program options and resistance levels.  The elliptical has wide pedals and comfortable hand grips to make the workout even more enjoyable. The unit has a high weight level which makes it great for larger individuals.  It is also accommodating to someone with a smaller frame and shorter stride.  In addition, you can plug in your mp3 player to the built in speakers.  The unit also includes a great fan that helps to keep the heat off during workouts, in addition to a bottle holder.  The unit folds up for easy storage in case space is limited. The unit is so quiet that it can be used while watching tv, which helps to make the time go by quicker.  The variable programs are sure to provide a diverse workout each and every time, so you'll never get bored using it. Overall, this is a great product for the price and it is sure to last much longer than cheaper products, which are flimsy and unreliable.

After doing a lot of research on home elliptical machines, I decided on the Nordic Track Audiostrider 990. I love the fact that the resistance and incline can be changed automatically without any interruptions to my workout. The built-in fan works great when I need it and I was able to find a program that I like. I would recommend this machine to anyone looking to purchase an elliptical for their home. The price was reasonable for everything it does.
