This thing rocks!

Things I would rather do than iron: go to the dentist, stub my toe, scrub a toilet, and talk to telemarketers. That list could go on for days, but I think you get the point: I HATE to iron. I found this Oreck Cordless Iron and now my opinion on ironing has changes a LITTLE bit. This iron makes the chore easier! You simply allow this iron to charge on its power base, fill the water tank up, and get to ironing. It is amazing how much of a difference not having a cord makes. There is no cord constantly getting in the way and tangled up. The iron heats up quickly and it takes me no time to have nice wrinkle free clothing. It works fine on thicker fabrics, like denim. When you are done, you simply place it back on the power base. Ease of Use This is easier to use than most irons due to it being cordless. The water tank on the item is easy to fill and you won't be spilling water everywhere like you do with a lot of irons!

Cordless makes it better.

First off, I absolutely hate ironing clothes, I think it is the worst task that you have to do and it is almost pointless, but if I didn't have to wear nice suits for work that I had to keep up, I would never do it. I bought this Oreck cordless iron because I had never seen another iron that did not have a cord before and I thought that would be awesome and really convenient to not have to find an outlet, I could literally iron anywhere that I was at without any problems. This Iron works well and does everything that you need from it. It has all the different settings for different types of fabrics, so it has a lot of heat settings and options. It is really easy to use and the water that sprays out comes out nice and easy and evenly. The only problem that makes me not rate this a ten is that after I turned this on at first and put water in it, I noticed it does leak a lot. Only if you set it up, but it is pretty annoying that it leaks out the water so instead I just use a spray bottle.

No more cumbersome cords

Having to place the iron back on the base for recharging seems a little awkward at first but once you get into the routine it is a breeze and MUCH better than ironing with a corded iron. This iron has multiple settings for safe use with all fabrics and can be used dry or with steam; I always use distilled water to avoid residue build up that clogs up the iron and can stain fabric.

Not For Me

I thought that I would just love the convenience of the cordless iron. So I do some shopping around to finally decide on the Oreck Cordless Iron. I would never purchase this iron again. The iron itself, is great if you are only doing a couple of items, by a couple I mean two to three. After the iron is in use for very small amounts of time, it starts to loose its heat, having to constantly return it to its base, which becomes a hassle after a few times. The iron is very heavy and difficult to maneuver at times. However, after you are finished the iron does cool very quickly and is easy to wipe down without the worry of burning yourself. I have not had any problems with burns at anytime while in use, so I do feel it's a fairly safe iron to use. I myself would not purchase the iron for everyday use or large ironing jobs, but if you are only doing an article here and there, it's a great value for the price.

amazing iron!

I love this iron! We asked for simple, plain iron for our wedding, but received this one and we love it. We have used it for five and a half years and it is still going strong. I like the steam feature too. I had never used anything like it before, but I was able to learn quickly because it was easy to use. It was mostly self explanatory too which was convenient since I don't like reading a lot of hard instructions. The iron heats up quickly and efficiently and stays hot throughout using it. There are many different settings that allow me to adjust the temperature to exactly how hot I want it depending on the item or patch or pearler beads or other things that I use the iron for with my family. The steam feature or adding water to the iron works well and seems to help with things such as my husband's dress shirts. I love how the iron takes out wrinkles and gets the shirt nice and smooth. It does get hot which is great for ironing performance which worries me around my small children, BUT, I love that it comes with a base that makes the iron sit more flat and is less likely to fall over like a traditional iron. Also, the cordless feature helps to have no cord for my children to pull on.

Oreck Iron is good

I purchased this Oreck cordless iron several years ago and have found it to be a good iron. Even though I have dropped it a few times it still works fine. It has a water tank so that you can steam iron your clothes. It has several settings so that you can get the temperature where you would like it. The cordless feature is a little tricky but it does work on the iron that I have. It came with a stand and to use it without a cord you do have to continually charge it back on the stand. Most of the time I have found it easier to just iron with the cord on so that I don't have to keep charging it. The stand that came with it is pretty sturdy so that you can safely rest the hot iron on it. I also use the stand to store the iron in the closet. The cord is not retractable so it does get in the way sometimes. The length of the cord is fairly long so that is handy when you are trying to reach further distances from an outlet. I like this iron and would recommend to others.

This iron came with a special deal we received when purchasing our Oreck vacuum. I am not big on ironing clothes, so have not used it in abundance. However, for the times I have gotten it out to use it, I really like it. It heats up on a stand, and can be locked in so it doesn't come out until you release it. The appearance is attractive. It is easy to use. The cordless feature makes it easy to carry with you to wherever you need it. If I were in the need of a new iron, I would consider buying another one like this.

Oreck iron too heavy and painful to use

1

This product thank God was free. Without a doubt you have to be strong like King Kong to use it so it is not practical. The iron is so heavy that I had severe muscle strain using it and once was enough for me. It would make a good weapon if you were strong enough to throw it. I thought it was just me but checked reviews on product at other web sites and they were not good. I gave it to Good Will and if some poor woman purchased it she has a much longer ironing arm. Perhaps the male who invented this was a wrestler. I have come to the conclusion that anything free from Oreck is because they could not sell it. For the life of me I just do not see the logic of this item. It felt like it weighed more than the lightweight vacuum. Performance Really could not say as it hurt my wrists so much that I just could not use it so it went to Good Will Ease of Use Way to much weight for an iron unless you are a weight lifter Durability I believe it would last forever

Nice Oreck JP8100CB Cordless iron

We got this iron with our Oreck vacuum cleaner. We've had it for 5 years now & it is still going strong. It is a nice iron, heavy & has a decent sized water reservior. When we first got it I liked the fact that it was cordless. I hate having a cord that gets tangled up while I am ironing. I don't iron much and I'm usually in a hurry to get it done and over with when I do iron. So I was not to happy that it had to be put back on the base often to reheat. But I've learned to work around it & it is still easier to use, I think, than a corded iron. Also I have two young children so not having a cord attached to the hot iron if they come busting into the room is a plus for me. You can use it as a corded iron also, but like others have said it tends to be heavy this way. It has a automatic off which I really like. This feature is handy to have if you have kids, sometimes the interruptions take longer than you expect. A simple push of the reset button turns it back on & it doesn't take to long to reheat. Another feature I like, & use often, is the built in sprayer. Overall I am happy with the iron and hope to use it for at least another 10 years or so.

Cordless iron works ok for 1 or 2 items

Irons are pretty simple appliances, they get hot and can be passed over the clothing to smooth out wrinkles. The iron will usually have a resevoir for water to dampen the clothing. This cordless iron works well for a few pieces of clothing but it must be put back in it's craddle constantly for reheating. I understand this is necessary to reheat the iron but it is quite tedious to manuever the iron back into its craddle everytime the iron begins to lose its temperature. I must admit that I do enjoy the freedom of having no cord, but having gone back to a corded iron, I'd have to say that being cordless is a nice, but unnessary feature. The cord is something to be aware of and worked around but it is a necessary evil in order to maintain constant temperature for the iron.
