Oster 3-Cup Mini Chopper with Whisk, Black -000

Summary

Make quick work of everyday food-prepping tasks in the kitchen with the help of this mini chopper. Equipped with a 150-watt motor, the efficient unit offers a 3-cup-capacity work bowl with a sharp S-shaped stainless-steel blade that chops, slices, dices, purees, and more. Two extra-large buttons make it easy to switch between low and high speed settings depending upon the consistency desired. Use the mini chopper for anything from chopping vegetables to layer onto a homemade pizza to pureeing garbanzo beans and garlic for a hummus spread. The Oster mini chopper's lid features a small opening that allows for safely adding water, olive oil, or other liquid while simultaneously processing for smooth results (no need to remove the lid). The unit also provides a handy whisk attachment for optimal whipping results, and a spatula that works well for scraping food off the sides of the work bowl. Housed in black with chromed accents, the mini chopper's cord tucks neatly away for compact storage, and dishwasher-safe parts make cleanup a snap.

Ok for small stuff

This is good for chopping small items such as garlic and herbs but don't expect it to pure. I had a hard time pulsing cauliflower into small pieces. I had to chop the pieces small enough to fit in the cup then pulse. Even then the pieces were big.

I got this processor as a gift from my older sister. From what she told me, she paid a lot for this thing. But she also said that she heard from a lot of people that it was worth the price and they said that it always did it's job. I have used it for several months and I am please with the results. I mostly use this product to dice up my fruits and make all different kinds of salads. This product cleans up easily. I never spend a long time or a lot of soap when I'm sleaning this product up. I paln on using this chopper for different kinds of meals. I recommend that others should get this product. It's easy to make meals with and it cleans up easily. What more can I person want.

Cute and efficient

I bought the Oster 3-Cup Mini Chopper with Whisk because I needed something that didnt take up lots of space in my house, that I could use for those small jobs. I have a big food processor, but its really heavy and annoying to have to take out for the small jobs. I was in the store and saw this one, so I bought it, thinking it would be helpful to have around the house. I am really glad I bought it. It is really helpful for the little jobs, like making a small puree, or marinade. Its great for chopping up nuts and other foods too! I dont think it would last if it was used constantly, but for the little things, every now and then, it is absolutely perfect! And its small and doesnt take up lots of room, which is always a plus in a crowded kitchen!

Oster Food Chopper

I bought this chopper for my 91-yr-old father who has a hard time chewing meats.  This chops the meat perfectly to the size he can chew easily.  I like the attractive black and silver of the appliance which makes me not want to hide it in a cupboard.  Another  plus is  that the cord is retractable.  Our chopper is set close to the plug-in so a long cord does not get in the way because you only pull out the cord length that you need.  It's not the easiest to clean however.  I cut a chunk off my thumb one of the first times I washed the blade...using a brush to clean it is safer than using a dishrag.

The mini-chopper is Good for the food processing impaired!!

3

I recently had occasion to pull my Oster mini-chopper out of storage when my electric food processor malfunctioned.  It had been a while since I had used this non-electric throwback to the good-ol-days and I had forgotten exactly how handy this little gadget is! The Oster mini - chopper is a very simple kitchen gadget consisting of a 2 cup glass jar topped by a thick plastic lid holding a spring loaded "chopper" with a handle on one end and a set of sharp, crossed blades on the other. On this occasion I was simply using it to chop mushrooms but in the past I have used it for everything from black olives to Parmesan to eggs.  The only thing I can recall that it really bombed out on that the box said it was supposed to chop is nuts. It has "cross hair" blades and, being an extremely simple chopper, you have to manually turn them after each chop.  This is not difficult and quickly becomes second nature. I do wish they had thought to put this little fact into the instructions though.  I had to figure it out myself through trial and error.  One side effect of this handy little mini-chopper is that it brings help in the kitchen! My kids see me using it and they want to "get in on the fun". Of course, my girls are 12.  I wouldn't dream of handing this over to the under, say... 7 years old set. (Let's stay sane here!)  But for older kids it seems to be an incentive to help out! Now they're forever trying to find some way to fit chopping something into mealtime!  Bacon bits anyone? Chopped onion? There are a couple of drawbacks I've found (besides the not doing nuts thing). One is that sometimes food gets stuck to the sides of the jar and therefore does not get chopped, requiring that you stir your concoction a few times to get everything to the consistency that you want it.  It will chop as fine as you wish, all depending on how long you are willing to put in the effort of chopping!  The other drawback is slightly more problematic.  The chopper comes with a small waxy disk that fits nicely into the indention in the bottom of the jar. You don't want to lose that disk. There is a really good reason that they gave it to you.  If the disk is not in place in the bottom of the jar when the chopper starts chopping, the contents at the very bottom of the jar remain whole, leading to the need for more stirring. The good news is, if you do lose the disk, you can make another by gluing a few circles of wax paper together.  Yes, I speak from unfortunate experience here.  I'm a disk loser. The Oster hand-held mini chopper is completely dishwasher safe and cleans up easily, more easily I found than do the parts of my electric food processor!  The handle locks down for more compact and easy storage when not in use.Overall I am very fond of my Oster hand-held mini chopper and my children certainly prefer it over my food processor.  I am certainly not driven to give it up by the small drawbacks that it has and I find it a good back up plan in any case. I highly recommend having one in your cabinet.  I think however, that in most cases I will stick to the here and now with my food processor and all that it can do for me.

Don't waste your money!

Bought this little item because my blender broke, thought I would try it out. After only 4 uses, my processor stopped working! Don't waste your money like I did! When it did work it was not smooth and hardly holds anything.

I bought this for my 91-yr-old father because he has a hard time chewing meats.  It is an ideal size and can be left on the counter because it is compact and attractive silver and black.  I like that the cord is retractable as the plug-in is very close to the unit and a long cord would be a nuisance.  I know most things are plastic these days but I am always afraid the pieces will crack if other dishes are not put down gently in the dishrack.  Also I cut the heck out of my thumb while cleaning it the first time...DO NOT use a dish rag on the blade...use a brush so your fingers are FAR away!

The Oster 3 Cup Chopper has been a Godsend for me

4

My fiance got me the Oster 3 cup chopper earlier this year and it has been a Godsend for me.  I guess it's a Godsend for him also since he reaps the benefits of what I produce with this little basic machine.  I honestly was using this item reluctantly for the first time since I'd not had much luck with small appliances in the past with motors burning out on me, etc.  But this little machine has chopped everything from onions to carrots with no problem.  It is a basic machine without many additional features other than basic chopping.  I am quite happy with this little sturdy machine.  You have to be somewhat diligent in the size of chunks of food that you prepare for chopping.  I believe carrots are the hardest, therefore make sure you cut them down into workable sized pieces before putting in this chopper.  Also, beware, as with all choppers, of the sharpness of the blades.  They are extremely sharp, so take care when disassembling and while washing.  Keep in mind that you must keep a certain level of food products in the chopper for it to work properly.  The level should be at or slightly above and depth of the blades, or you won't get the most of this product.

The Oster 3 Cup Chopper works great, when it decides to work.

I received the Oster 3 Cup Chopper as a Christmas gift from a fellow Foodie friend.  My kitchen doesn't offer a great deal of space, so appliance size is a BIG issue for me. I was thrilled to see such a compact unit that would meet my needs. Right off the bat, I was impressed with the overall capacity of the cup, it held far more than I had expected and chopped a variety of foods very nicely.  The first day I used it to chop carrots, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, spinach, tomatoes and spices.  The blades are sharp and sliced through all textures of the food with ease.  There was absolutely no tearing or breaking, as I've seen in similar compact appliances.   I would give the chopper a full 5 stars, BUT after only 2 separate uses, the appliance DIED.  Each use was moderately light, chopping 5 or so items in a row but never overheating the appliance.  There were no power surges, etc that would have compromised the mechanisms.  I had cleaned and appropriately put away all of the parts, etc after use and when I went to use it a third time, nothing... not a sound nor movement occurred.  I looked at every aspect of the machine and found no signs of trouble or disturbance.  Ultimately, there is no explanation for the equipment failure.  I was saddened to see the 'little guy' go because I really liked it and would have used it often.  Due to recklessly throwing away all of the packaging and attached paperwork accidentally on Christmas (out with the Christmas wrappings and boxes) I had no way to return the appliance or submit it under the warranty conditions.  :(   So, while the chopper performance, capacity, and size are top notch (while it's functioning), I have concerns for its longevity.  I'm sure not every Oster Chopper meets its maker after only two separate uses, but this event didn't bode well for my faith in this product.
