I saw the Oster Inspire Long Slot 2 Slice Toaster on sale for a super low price at a local store, and thought it looked like a great idea! It is very narrow for easy storage, and you can still cook up to 4 pieces of toast, bagels, english muffins, etc. I brought it home and first thing I noticed straight out of the box is that the cord is super short. At first I think it was retractable, it was so short. But nope, just super short. It wasn't a huge deal, I figured I would just keep it on the counter close to the outlet. The next morning I went to cook some toast and noticed that the heating elements looked very uneven during cooking. They weren't all the same color. There was variation in color which means they aren't all getting the same temperature. Which in turn made the toast come out cooked very uneven. The outside of the toaster was also extremely hot to the touch. I decided to just let it cool down and return it for a refund. I didn't feel like it was safe to have something with wonky heating elements and something that gets so hot to the touch.

I received this toaster as a gift and it was bad from day one. I exchanged it thinking it may just have been a dud. I was wrong. Toasting Evenness It either toasts evenly or not at all with nothing in between. This is regardless of what you are trying to toast or setting being used. Again this was on both units. Safety The first one I had (which should have been my clue to take the money and use it on a better toaster) sparked and keeled over instantly. The next unit did not appear to suffer from any safety issues. Ease of Cleaning I honestly cannot assign this particular section a score granted they were both returned immediately and with much disgust and aggrivation Durability I would give it a zero if that was an option. As I mentioned before the first one died a before it had a chance to toast and the other would probably not have lasted much longer as it could not evenly toast a single piece of bread. Design I believe the slots should be wider and the plastic should be of higher quality. There is a flimsy feel to the levers.

Well, as I mentioned in the title, this is good buy if you are not spending a lot of money on it. Got this on sale at an electronics store and it has performed pretty well since I have had it for close to a year. I bought this one specifically for the advertised long slot which is not really that long at all, I knew someone who had one that is longer than this is and fit the loaf style bread perfectly, this not so much. I have had no issues with it as far as toasting ability and pretty quick heat up time, but the short is so annoyingly long! I have always wondered why any company would do that. I would even pay a few extra bucks for the extra rubber. I would recommend it for the price though, this company in particular has always put out affordable items that have last for long enough to account for the low amount of money, I have always seen them for a really good price at Big Lots.

We bought this toaster due to its low sale price and unique profile. The long design allows four slices of toast (even four bagel halves) to be toasted simultaneously, yet this is a slim appliance, good for small kitchens. While this product does a decent job, it is a bit inconsistent. The smallest adjustment of the darkness selector seems to make a huge difference in toasting time, resulting in some burnt toast as we got used to the settings. Additionally, the defrost function seems to work at a snail's pace, sometimes requiring three defrost rounds before toast is adequately thawed. Sometimes, the mechanism gets stuck altogether and the toast scorches unless watched carefully. But if you're vigilant, this is a good appliance at a very reasonable price and there aren't many with the same design. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase, but it isn't for those who like to push the lever down and walk away.

If the spot where you want your toaster to be on the kitchen counter is more than 24" away from an outlet and you don't care to kluge it up with an extension cord - don't buy this toaster. Another thing I noticed right away is that the heating element segments are not all orange, some are a very dull red or completely dark in various spots indicating a poor quality control of the wire that was used for them. This toaster is going back to the store... Ease of Cleaning Cannot rate this! Durability Cannot rate this! Design Sorry, despite Oster's claim of protecting us from tripping, (yeah, like I dance on the kitchen counter all the time!), their actual reason is likely no different than Black and Decker back in the 70's - increase profit by saving money on copper.

I purchased an Oster Inspire 2-Slice Toaster six months ago when my old toaster went kaput.  It has been a staple in my kitchen ever since.  No more burnt toast and not-quite-done bagels.  No more crisp-edged waffles that are still frozen in the middle.  This toaster is such a help in. the kitchen!
