I have used the Panasonic SR-G10G 5.5-Cup Rice Cooker in the past and it is a very simple rice making gadget. As mentioned in my title, it gets the job done and that's about it. My family consumes a LOT of rice and I cook rice almost everyday so I have used my fair share of rice cookers. This one is the simplest of them all. I am not entirely satisfied with the Panasonic SR-G10G 5.5-Cup Rice Cooker. The rice at the bottom almost always sticks to the container making cleaning very difficult. Also, since there are no other attachments with this rice cooker, you cannot use it for any other purpose. Having said that, it works perfectly alright if you are looking for plain boiled rice with no frills and don't expect to do anything beyond that. The Panasonic SR-G10G 5.5-Cup Rice Cooker is a basic model and will fulfill your need for making rice at short notice. The rice cooks pretty fast in this cooker and automatically lets you know when it is done! The rice can be kept warm in the rice cooker until the time you need to use it. I personally find that the rice sticks less if I let it sit for a while after cooking.

I have the Panasonic 5.5 cup rice cooker. And it is fine. It cooks rice. So, what more should I expect from a rice cooker, right? Well, it cooks the rice. But it also seems to scorch the rice that sits right above the heating element. I stir the rice at least twice during cooking and still it scorches. The rice sticks to the bottom like nobody's business. I cannot even scrape it off with a wooden spoon. I continue to use the rice cooker because I am notorious for burning rice on the stove top. But, my husband does groan whenever he has to scrub out the stuck on rice. Better than pot of burnt rice I suppose, but he complains nonetheless. I have not used it to steam anything other than rice, as I am not willing to fuss with it. It is easy enough to use a steamer basket in a pot on the stove.

Five stars for this rice cooker. It is exactly what I expected it to be. A small rice cooker for a small size group of people (approximately 4 to 6). It just does rice and it does it well. Just put some rice and water inside and press the button to heat and VOILA! One of the best things is the coating of the cooking pot. It's super smooth and makes it easier to clean. Just rinse and let it sit for a few minutes, scrub and wipe everything off! Cooks rice in about 30-40 minutes I believe. I just got it and forget how much time it takes. I've gone through a couple rice cookers, but this one looks good so far. Very sturdy, no complaints about build quality. One thing I like to do is put an egg in there too so when the rice is fully cooked, I've also got a hard boiled egg to eat!

Just when my 10+ year old rice cooker was finally dying on me, a neighbor offered this model to me when she was taking her pile of donations to her favorite charity drop. I've since had this model for about a year. Cooking rice with this model is a very easy affair, I wash a couple cups of rice, eyeball it as I add some water and press the button. In under a half hour, the rice is magically done. Although boiling rice on the stovetop is a simple process, pressing a button to get a perfect, fresh pot of rice is great. This Panasonic model comes with a non-coated pot, so it's best to soak the pot for a while before washing but rice doesn't noticeably stick to this pot more than a teflon coated pot. All in all, if you need a simple rice cooker, this model works great and should last for quite a while.

I have, have had, or have used, rice cookers made by many different companies. Aroma. Rival. Black and Decker. Oster. Wolfgang Puck. These are among the lower-end models that I do not recommend for various reasons, either they scorch the rice, leave it gummy on the bottom, are made of plastic that degrades, or a combination thereof (the plastic ones usually have several issues). Of all of the lower end models, I've found the Panasonic to be the most consistently reliable, producing very nice rice (make sure you let it rest for 10 minutes after it cooks). I do wish that it did not have the 'keep warm' feature (the old ones did not); I would just unplug it after it's done. Next to my ancient National (that could not be replaced, the best), I chose this one for ot's features. Note that you can also use it as a steamer (and no non-stick coating inside, making it more versatile IMO) as well as using for many other grains, vegetables, soups, etc.
