I enjoy taking pictures, but I wanted to record my children's milestones and interactions, so I decided that a camcorder would be useful. I know nothing about video cameras, so I left it up to my anal perfectionist-of-a-father to do all of the research and choose one that had good reviews and good features and that produced good videos. Not only did he do that, but he also bought me the quality camcorder that he thought would best meet my needs (namely the Panasonic HDC-SD60). I really haven't used it a lot since I received it on Christmas (three months ago) because, well, I've never had a video camera, and I keep forgetting that I have it. Luckily, it's fairly easy to use, so when I pick it up, I can use it even though I haven't had a lot of practice. Though the camera itself is easy to use, I haven't had much luck with the accompanying software, possibly because my processor is not up to par.

**This camcorder is a really great camcorder that's well-worth the price. The touch screen feature is great for choosing the clips I want and deleting the clips I don't want. There are lots of features in the main menu and the camcorder itself is lightweight and the lens closes automatically so no more losing the lens cap.I really enjoy this product.**

Given the recent need to record my son's sporting events, I was in the market for a camcorder.  My first purchase a couple weeks ago was a Standard Definition camcorder.  While that item did get the job done, it also left me wanting more.... More video quality, more zoom, image stabilization, etc.  This brings us to the Panasonic HDC-SD60.  There are a million camcorders on the market, almost too many to chose from.  After reading many many many reviews, I decided on this unit.  My requirements were Full HD 1080i minimum, at least 20x Zoom, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), and overall good image quality.   Pros: - HD 1080i Video - Good Battery Life (2 hours) - Built in Auto Lens Cover - Touch Screen Interface - Optical Image Stabilization - High Zoom - Sound very clear and free of wind noise, etc. - Weight and Size Cons: - Almost too small for someone with Large hands - Slow start up when first turned on (3-5) seconds - Battery Must be charged on camera and can take several hours to charge - no HD 1080p mode Overall I love this camcorder.  I have found its low light quality to be acceptable and its daylight quality to be excellent.  The built in light works well for close subjects.  Have not tried the photo mode yet.
