Love it but...

I love fried foods, but don't use this often because of how much oil it requires for each use

heating problems

1

Bought it 4 months ago and used it 6 times. Something is wrong with the temp. control as the red light NEVER goes out now and the green light NEVER comes on......yes I am waiting for it to preheat.....I don't know if it is just heating the oil till is is ready to self ignite or if it is never hitting over the 300 degree minimum temp..... I have another on at our summer home that has worked good for 4 years...this on is JUNK at 4 months and being used 6 times !!!!!!!

Presto Digital ProFry Deep Fryer

4

The Presto Digital ProFry Deep Fryer is a wonderful small appliance if you are frying food for a large party. It deep fries in hot oil without a hassle once you reach the right temperature. One consideration about this deep fryer it requires a lot of cooking oil and changing the oil can be a hassle. The deep fryer is compact enough to shelf in your cabinets. Performance I rate the performance as very good. I would not recommended the deep frying for long period of time. Once the oil gets extremely hot it is very difficult to change the oil. Ease of Use The usage of this deep fryer requires the use of oil and therefore making sure you have enough will always be a concern. Durability We had have this deep fryer for three years without problem. Ease of Cleaning The one problem with this deep fryer is the ease of cleaning. The oil for the deep fryer must be disposed of and this sometimes presents a problem. Often you will need to clean up the mess from using this deep fryer.

Decent Fryer, Not Spectacular.

I purchased this fryer thinking it had a larger fry basket, however I was somewhat disappointed with it because it was very small compared to what it looked like on the box. I was expected something a bit more higher quality, since Presto is a relatively good brand. This one seems sort of put together to me Performance It performed ok, not great, as it seemed to take a longer period of time to warm up and to stay at the correct temperature for deep frying Ease of Use Easy to use, nothing overwhelming about this product, simply plug in and go. It is somewhat bulky, especially if you don't have a lot of counter space, or if counter space is not deep, takes up a lot of space Durability It is durable, considering what it is used for. You do have to be careful, as the outside of the fryer tends to become a little warm. It does cook food relatively even though Ease of Cleaning Somewhat cumbersome to clean, and takes a lot of time, as you have to wait for the grease to cool before you can empty. It would be nice if that was a faster process, but it will do

Love fried foods, hate deep frying things myself.

I love deep fried foods, but I hate deep frying things myself. First of all, I hate using so much oil, and second, what do I do with the oil after I use it? I hate cleaning the deep fryer after I use it, and I hate using so much oil. Well, with this deep fryer, it's smaller which is good for small families. It does take some time about 20 minutes to heat up, but after that when you add your food the temperature does not drop as much. It returns to the set temperature fairly quickly. I think this has to do with the design of the deep fryer which I like. I think the temperature is very important in getting a nice crunchy texture. The basket that holds your food is well made and I haven't had any problems with it. Also, because of it's small size this deep fryer is fairly portable to bring to parties and such. I would recommend this to those who love fried foods and are willingly to take the time to fry it themselves

Frying is fun with the Presto ProFry!

4

We recently bought a Presto ProFry as a housewarming gift and spent the weekend frying all sorts of things. The oil comes up to temperature quickly and our food came out beautifully cooked and crispy. There is just the one basket in this version, so you can't cook a ton at once - we were able to do about four servings of french fries at one time, and cooked about 9 chicken wings per basket load. All the components were easy to clean. One warning - although the fryer comes with a lid, its use is not recommended with high moisture foods - the release of steam when the food hits the oil is so great that, if covered, the hot oil will overflow the container. We bought a round spatter screen to cut down on the spattering when we couldn't use the lid - even though it was round and not a perfect fit, it worked quite well. Frying is messy and unhealthy, but every once in awhile there's nothing like it, and it's really fun to do at home, so I say go fot it with the Presto!

Okay fryer

This fryer will get the job done. It's good for small things, such as making perogies or fries. But I found that some other things did not fit well and were not fully done all around. The other negative is the cord. The connectors, at least on mine, were not very durable and wore out after about 6 months.

A decent smaller fryer

Overall I like this fryer. It has a lid that covers it when it's not in use, handles to pick it up when I stash it in a bottom cabinet, and is fairly compact. Ours is finicky about indicating its "readiness" at times, but that hasn't been a big problem for me. The actual cooking capacity is significantly smaller than you would expect to look at the exterior. The basket tends to get things "baked", or I guess fried, on if you cook anything doughy. It's not hard to clean, but is necessary more often than some fryers I've used. Also, and this is a big negative for me, I am on my second basket. The first one had to be replaced after the hinge in the handle wouldn't lock anymore. I wrestled with it using tongs to assist me with dumping for a little while but finally broke down and got a new basket. I would only recommend this to someone who uses a fryer only occasionally and isn't cooking anything too heavy. I fry a good bit of chicken strips and things so it might perform better with "lighter" foods.

Easy to use, only for small families.

The Presto Pro Digital Fryer was on sale and thats why I decided to purchase it. Its very simple to use, and when the grease is heated to the specified temperature the light is green, so you know its ready! Clean up is pretty simple, and its small enough to fit in the bottom cupboard. What I wasn't thinking about is that the actual space to fry the food is pretty small, and you can't fill the basket very full or the food sticks together and doesn't cook like it should (especially homemade french fries). For a family of four or less, this is a great addition to your home, and you can cook up some really fun foods with it, for large families like ours (family of 8) you should really get a double fryer so your food takes less time and you can eat as a family!

The Deep Fryer That Does It All

5

My son bought me this Presto Deep Fryer about three years ago. It is a professional-style fryer in a convenient at-home size. It has an immersion element for fast heating, frying and steaming. It has a digital control and display for easy selection of frying temperature and cooking time. Holds a big 9-cup food capacity. Its good for Frying, Steaming and Boiling. The deep fryer is equipped with a sensor which will automatically shut the unit off if it is overheated. In addition, the words "Unplug" and "Push" will alternately flash in the display panel and the red and green signal lights will flash. This is great for safety reasons. The removable pot, fry/steam basket, fryer cover and base are all dishwasher safe. I've made everything from chicken wings to rice in this machine, with no complaints. I would deffinately recommend this to a friend!
