We built a new house and did not want to drill into our new cabinets to install hardware so we bought these. This works really great, and no drilling required. It has a little bit of flex to the cabinet, but not enough for little hands to get in there. These are inexpensive, and work really well, so I'd recommend it whole heartedly.

I purchased these locks when I was baby proofing our home several years ago and have been very happy with the results. My three year old daughter still has not discovered how to open the cabinets. The locks have lasted a long time and are easy to install as well. I have also appreciated the feature that I can remove them from one cabinet and move them to another. This was very helpful because I did not buy enough of the locks and so had to move them from guarding the pots and pans to the medicine cabinet when my daughter got taller. They are still easy enough for me and my husband to open in a hurry while still keeping my daughter out. The safety first locks have taken a lot of abuse from my two little girls yanking on them over the years and are still in good working condition. I appreciate the dedication of this company to keeping my children safe. I would never buy those locks that fit inside the cabinet after trying these because I know from experience that those break very easily when pressure is applied.

We tried these locks out and were ok with them, but not very thrilled overall. This cabinet lock works with door facing one another with handles, not knobs (at least not small ones). When opened, the loops can be released to install through door handles and then pulled on to snug up. We had continuous trouble with the loop wanting to snug more than we wanted, making it very difficult to open because there was no room to pull them away far enough to get hands behind the lock to push buttons. This is a 2 hand release operation, which is also a pain. The loops are essentially zip ties. While strong, a couple of ours actually cracked from being bent the same way so many times, making them compromised. Overall, we just weren't thrilled and went with something different.

I really do like this lock for the cabinet that I use it on because I know that my son can not get into it.  They only problem is that it takes 2 hands to unlatch and is kind of hard to undo.  It is better after you get used to it but at first it is hard.  But it is a very sturdy lock.

works great i have a side by side refrigerator and my 3yr old climbs it untill i put these locks on it. she can yank and yank and they wont give. i have noticed that if you dont tighten the locks all the way you can open it a tad and hit your self. but thats the only issue iv had with this. every door on my house has these you cant break them.

We have tried a few different kinds of cabinet locks on the lower kitchen cabinets, this is the one we stuck with.  It is very effective, as there is no way our two year old could figure it out and even if he could, no one his size could have the strength and fine motor skills to unlock it.  The only downside is that there is no way to unlock it with just one hand.  You must have two free hands to get that done, but then that's one reason why it is so effective.  Overall, a good, quality, sturdy product.

I kept having problems with my daughter getting into all the cabinets.  I am a first time mom so it took me a little while to realize that they do make cabinet locks and it probably would be a good investment to purchase some.  My daughter loves to get into everything, so I finally went and purchased these cabinet locks.  The problem I have run into is that once the lock has been locked, it takes at least three hands to get them to unlock.  I have had to open the cabinets and have had to get my husband to assist me with pressing the yellow button and having him pull the sides out.  They turned out to be more trouble than they were worth.  I now have the kind that you screw in to the inside of the cabinet and just push down to get the cabinet open.  It may take a while to get the screws in, but once they are installed, they work much better and efficentlyl.

i love this child safety product. i have cabinets on my entertain center that my kids love to get into and pull all our dvds out and books and so i went to my local walmart purchased these locks and thats the end of my problems. the kids pulled and pulled on them and could not get the lock undone. actually the handle on the cabinet broke before the lock did, so i think they do the job well.

  Youngsters have a habit of getting into places where they don't belong and one area where this problem is common and potentially dangerous is in the kitchen. And one product that is designed to keep children out of harm's way is the **Safety 1st Cabinet Flex Lock**, a device that keeps children from opening cabinet doors. **Child Lock Commentary:** Safety 1st Cabinet Flex Lock is an odd- looking product that features two flexible plastic lock straps that are attached to a plastic base. These lock straps are white in color, made from plastic, and feature a jagged edge, similar to a zipper. The plastic straps are anchored around the knobs on cabinets or through the handles, if handles exist. In order to move the straps, the button in the middle and the corresponding side button must be pressed at the same time, offering enough deterrent to prevent kids from getting inside. The main thing that attracted me to these locks as opposed to others is the fact that, unlike latches, these locks do not require any tools. There is no need to drill a hole in your cabinets, no need for a screwdriver, etc. The locks come two in a package and they are ready for use immediately. There is no preparation needed. Convenience is nice, and these locks certainly score points in this area. But the bottom line to most consumers is the effectiveness of the locks because even if they are very convenient, they won't do much good if they don't achieve the intended goal. And Safety 1st Cabinet Flex Locks are effective. As long as the flexible lock straps are pulled tightly so there is no "give", then kids will not be able to open the cabinets. I have watched my girls struggle to try to open one of the cabinets with these locks in place. They try hard, but they quickly give up when they realize there is no way to get around this lock. I have used different types of cabinet safety locks and Safety 1st Cabinet Flex Lock is one of the better ones. However, there are still a few shortcomings with this product. Probably the greatest shortcoming is the limitations with installation. Because these locks loop around knobs or through handles, they cannot be used on cabinets without a knob or a handle. Also, the knobs and/or handles have to be close enough to each other so that the two lock straps can reach all the way to them. If the knobs are too far apart, there will be no way to use these locks. Also, it takes practice to get the pressing of the buttons right. The side and middle button must be pressed together. With practice, some people can do this with one hand. **Bottom Line Viewpoint:** Overall, Safety 1st Cabinet Flex Locks are my favorite child safety lock for cabinets. They do have limited use since they will only work on cabinets with knobs or handles located close to each other. But when you factor in the convenience, the fact that no tools are needed, and the inexpensive cost, these child safety locks are hard to beat. They keep kids out of cabinets without drilling holes in them to install latches or other locks, making them my favorite product of their type.

In the package, these looked like they would work perfectly. So far, they are a HUGE pain. I know a lot of safety items aren't necessarily made for convenience...they are made for safety, but these seem to be made for torture. It's incredibly hard for my tiny fingers to pinch the side and the middle buttons at the same time and then to pull one side down. THEN, you have to repeat it on the other side. I thought the idea behind this product was to prevent the child from being able to open the cabinet, not the adults as well. (lol) Guess I'll be taking that fire extinguisher out of the cabinet. There is no way I could get to it quickly enough in an emergency situation. Also, they don't work on all types of cabinets. You have to have another cabinet next to it, so single cabinets are out. They do work, though! There is no way our son could get the Flex Lock off. This item is also priced really reasonably and it requires no drills or screws, which is always nice. Though, there are other products out there like magnet locks that don't require tools, but they cost a lot more. We've used both. I can seen bonuses to both, but I think in the future, I'll stick to the magnet locks.
