Not the best handheld vacuum

3

I have two four year old twins as of present day that still make a disaster fast, especially with food and crumbs. When they used to do it in the car it would drive me crazy so I decided to get a handheld vacuum for in between cleanings and something easier on my back for the stairs. The first one I got was a nightmare so I ended up buying the shark handheld vacuum. It's not a terrible vacuum, but I expected more from the shark brand because I have seen good products from their line. The problem is the battery charger either isn't great or the vacuum itself has to be almost on the charger constantly and if you're trying to clean a lot at once, you kind of feel like you're rushing because after about forty minutes, it begins to lose suction and die off. It doesn't seem to pick up crumbs or some other things great, yet it picks up fuzz, lint, and hair. On one positive note, it is easier to clean it out because you just dump it and wipe it out which is easier than a bag. But honestly I don't use it anymore and I don't really think its worth the money.

The Shark Handheld 15.6 volt Vacuum is the best hand vacuum.

The Shark Handheld 15.6 Volt Hand Vacuum is the best hand vacuum I have ever used. I have tried a few brands, but I have found this is the most powerful hand vacuum I've tried so far. I love that it comes with different connectors to make cleaning just that more easy. It charges very quickly and lasts fairly long. The only complaint I have with this vacuum is the filter is hard to find. I have searched a few stores for new filters but I can not find the correct model for this vacuum.

Perfect for quick clean up!

I love my hand held Shark vaccuum. It's probably the easiest appliance I have in my home. We received this as a Christmas gift a few years ago and tend to use it not just for the day to day, but the quick clean-ups we need to take care of when family is coming to visit. It is the perfect size for me to carry up and down our stairs, and use to actually CLEAN our stairs. With pets in our home this is essential. The suction is strong enough to pick up pet hair and my own hair (with long hair I certainly shed enough) and easy to clean out when/if it gets tangled up in the brush. It maintains a strong charge and is easy to unplug and move the charger around, along with the versatility of the machine, as well. I highly recommend this to others!

Shark hand held

4

I have been looking for a long time for a good hand held vacuum. I have bought 2 other hand helds and have returned them because they just didn't seem to have enough suction. I started researching the shark and with everything positive that I read about it I decided to give it a try. I received it last week and I am so, so glad that I bought it! It is wonderful for pet hair and crumbs around the house and it is so nice not to have to drag the full size vacuum out everytime I need to clean up a smal mess. We have a small dog and and smal child so between the two of them there is always something that needs to be cleaned up and I really believe that the shark is what we needed to help us keep the house clean!

Not Worth it

1

I got this hand vack when I moved into my new tiny apartment. I read reviews on it and expected it to perform pretty well, especially since it cost more than the black and decker I previously had. Big mistake. While the Shark handvac is aesthetically pleasing, it doesn't do a good job. I have a 4 X 6 area rug, which was the primary reason I bought the shark vac; it did not really pick up the lint/dirt from the rug unless I went over the same spot 5 or 6 times. The vac just doesn't have much power. It's perfectly fine for picking up dust on my hardwood floors, but I have a swiffer for that. Also, it runs out of power really quickly even after being fully charged - in less than 4 mins of using the vac, I can tell that the power is going down. And this is not due to the vac being full because I empty out the dirt before I use it. I don't know of a handvac that is better, but I know that this Shark handvac is just as crappy as a cheapy black and decker. So why would I pay a premium for this? I am really dissappointed since I saw good reviews for this.

It's got the power of a vacuum cleaner in a hand-vac!

The Shark Bagless Handheld Cyclonic Vacuum is a must have tool for all of life's little messes.  It has incredible power for a hand-vac and can pick up just about anything.  It's easy to just grab the handheld vacuum and clean up area messes in between regularly scheduled vacuum cleaning.  I think it's great to use to clean out the van.  It has all the attachements needed to clean out the entire van and it does a great job.  I can get the job done in 10 minutes and it's so easy to do.  I love that I don't have to worry about dragging a cord around to clean.  The Shark Bagless Handheld Vacuum comes with three different attachments for specific cleaning.  It comes with a motorized brush one that picks up the dirt much more effectively.  We typically keep that attachment on because we use that one the most.  Once you've picked up the mess, it's easy to empty the canister out by just opening up the vacuum.  This is by far a great quality hand-vac.

works pretty good on cat hair

I am impressed. The pet hair attachment with spinning action actually works pretty well. Before I bought this vacuum I hadn't had any luck with removing pet hair without lugging out the big old vacuum from the basement. Its comfortable to hold and cleans pretty well. The only thing I don't like about it is that its kind of hard to slip it back in place on the charger. I always end up fiddeling with it to get it to slip in place. Right now i have the charger sitting on the counter so I am hoping once i mount it to the wall it will be better.

Shark spends more time on the charger than chomping on dirt!

Overview: The Shark Cordless 15.6 volt is a medium sized, lightweight, handvac with an optional motorized brush and crevace tool. There are no bags (just dump the dust and dirt in the trash) and the filter is reuseable. My Review: The Shark Cordless Cyclonic Pet 15.6 volt power-vac was an impulse purchase since it was on a good sale at a local department store and I was desperate for a portable machine that wold pick up pet hair in between vacuumings (and I disliked the vacuum we had at the time.) The 'cyclonic action' suction works okay for small jobs and patches of pet hair here and there. But only when it has charged for thirty minutes or more. When it gets low on power you can hear and feel it winding down and slumping to a stop. I have to keep in on the charger constantly to get it to work more than a minute or two which can be really annoying when I am on a cleaning spree and I want to get everything done at once. I do like the fact that there are no bags. I just hold the dirt container down in the trash bag with the sides drawn up (to keep allergens away ) and shake. You can wipe it out after if you want to and the filter can also be cleaned and reused. It is simple to snap off the container when you want to do that. But the release lever is way too easy to pop open and I have hit it accidentally many times when I was cleaning. Overall I gave this three stars mainly because I really had high hopes. I wanted the freedom of a cordless vac and I was dissapointed with the loss of power within such a short time and the amount of time it has to stay on the charger. it is a decent vaccuum when it works but it doesn't pick up fine particles and it fills fast. Cleaning it afterwards also takes time away from other things I could be getting done.   Maneuverability Love the portability, that's the best thing about this hand vacuum. Ease of Maintenance No bags and a re-useable filter but I find you do need to rinse it out to prevent clogs. Suction Performance Won't get all the crumbs out of the couch but it will pick up large chunks of pet hair Design Needs a new design with a better charge and a larger dirt canister. Durability Heavy duty plastic, never had anything break

Perfect for Carpeted Stairs!

4

I never realized how tasking it would be to clean stairs until we bought our new home that has a very tall staircase! Until I purchased this little gem, I was using my upright vacuum cleaner and not only was it cumbersome, but I almost fell down the stairs several times! I began to look at all of the handhelds and chose the Shark. The opening of this vac is pefect for stairs, compared to other handhelds and has really good suction, especially for picking up dog hair, which we have a lot of! I like that it also has changeable nozzles to easily get into the corners and small spaces. I would have rated it 4 stars, but for the fact that the power runs down quickly. This is my second Shark product and so far, I am very happy with this brand.

Great for small jobs/cleaning steps

4

I love this for small clean-up jobs and especially for cleaning off our stairs.  I hated lugging out the large upright vacuum for either of these jobs.  I really like the Shark handheld vacuum, but I would not recommend it for large areas to  be cleaned.  The attachable tools really are helpful.  It does a good job of cleaning of fairly large pieces of dirt (such as stray cat food, dropped food crumbs, etc.). The one drawback is that the power runs down fairly quickly, so it does not pick up as well toward the end of my cleaning.  It is a little messy to clean out the filter, so I recommend doing this outside or in a garage/laundry area trashcan.  It can make a dusty mess in any room in which you are trying to clean it.
