My husband purchased the Singer Curvy sewing machine for me as a gift. Previously, I had a very simple Singer machine and liked it just fine. The Singer Curvy has expanded my options. It took me awhile to figure out that I was not threading the upper thread correctly. Since overcoming that, it has been quite simple to use. I am enjoying the many decorative stitch options for my sewing projects. The bobbin is a drop-in type, not the type you put in from the front. On a positive side, there is a clear plastic window that enables you to see the bobbin, so if you're having issues with the stitching, it's plain to see if the thread is tangled or empty there. It is a pretty heavy machine, and larger than my simpler model. For me, that's not a problem. With my previous model, I struggled to feed heavier materials such as fleece and chenille through the machine. This one handles them very well and sews smoothly and quietly. I am still pretty novice as far as skill, but this has been a wonderful upgrade for me!

First of all let me say I am a beginner at sewing. I began on a brother beginner machine and then tried my mother's beginner Singer. I was very comfortable on the beginner Singer and wanted a machine for myself. I found the curvy 8763 on sale and my mother convinced me to get it because of the upgrades. I didn't feel I needed them since I was still learning but I'm glad I got the new machine so that I won't need to upgrade to a different machine any time soon. I love the smooth start. There is a pressure control on the pedal so you don't get any jump starts. There is also a really need machine threading option. The instructions make it sound like threading the machine will be very complicated but after watching the DVD that came with the machine, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. The machine is SO quite! The sewing action is also smooth. It doesn't shake my table even at the highest speed! I love the added feature of the thread cutters so you don't always have to have scissors handy. The machine is a little big but I can get over that. Another thing I'm not crazy about is the reverse button. After you press the button it takes a stitch to activate and when you release it will run another stitch or two before returning the other direction. I guess I'm still learning how get used to its controls. Overall...I love it!

When looking for a great sewing machine that gives versalitity a new name this is the one to get, the features on this machine make sewing easy as pie.  I can start and finish an item without making alot of changes everytime I need to change a stitch from start to finish it makes a beautiful garment and it just glides right on by. Swift smart threadding system is really very good as it sews your clothes very smart. I broguht this for my wife, at that she started yelling on me wthat why i purchase mechanical ones. But once she started using this, she is now fan of this sew machine. Automatic threadding feature and light flow with led's are some of the good things about this machine. Really good value of money that you spent.
