I tried using a baby sling with both my babies, but neither one liked it. They were both 10 lbs at birth, and could hold their heads up, I think the sling made them feel too confined, and they wanted to see what was going on around them. We do a lot of walking, and the Snugli was perfect for taking them for walks when they were tiny! It kept them close and warm, but they could still see around them and could "talk" to mommy or daddy. Once they got to be a few months old, we switched to a larger carrier because this one seemed a little cramped. Like I said, I have big babies (30 lbs by the time they were a year old), so the Snugli may work longer for smaller kids. I loved it for those first few months. I haven't found any carrier that didn't make my back or shoulders hurt after extended use, but this one really isn't bad, and you can use it for quite a while with no pain. The price is quite a bit less than other brands, and it's held up great. It's easy to clean up if needed. We are expecting number 3 in February, and have the Snugli packed in the box with the newborn clothes so it will be ready!

I puchased the snugli carrier based on the recommendation from my sister. She liked her snugli more than the baby bjorn because of the waist strap that provides more support and helps prevent back pain. I have found this to be true. The Snugli is really comfortable and easy to adjust for different users (myself and my husband). Also, it is much less expensive than the baby bjorns, which was a huge plus for me, especially since you never know whether your child will like it or not. I also recommend this product because it can be used for an inward facing baby (before they can hold their neck up) and then you can graduate to front-held, but facing outward, and then finally, it can be used as a backpack. So it is also a good deal for your money because it can be used for quite awhile. I have found the Snugli to be useful indoors (I've carried my baby in it while vacuuming, doing the dishes, cleaning the kitchen, etc.) as well as for going on walks when there is snow on the ground and it would be difficult to push a stroller. The Snugli is a great purchase for the price, convenience, versatility, and length of use!
