Not essential, but makes a great sandwich

4

I am a sucker for a good grilled cheese sandwich. I just use regular sandwich bread, layer in some slices of cheddar or fresh mozzarella cheese, spread a little butter on the outsides of the bread, and then let the Toastmaster two-section sandwich maker do its thing. It can be difficult to close and latch into place (usually my bread is just a little too big for the sandwich press). It has a handy light on top that turns from red to green when the sandwich is cooked to perfection--the bread is golden brown and crispy, the cheese is gooey and delicious. While it's possible to cook a good grilled cheese on a griddle or in a frying pan, the sandwich press is faster, and the compression of the sandwich gives it a different texture. I don't use it often, but it is quite small, so it doesn't take up much room in the cupboard. Ease of Cleaning Because the grill plates are non-removable, you have to settle for just wiping the unit out with a wet rag. I don't recommend using detergents as they may leave a residue on the grill, and you don't want a soapy sandwich.

works well

I received the Toastmaster Two-Section Sandwich Maker as a gift and felt obligated to try it out even though I already have several of this type of sandwich makers. It does work well, but I don't think there is anything exceptional about it so I do not intend to replace any of my current sandwich makers with it. I do appreciate the gift, but it just isn't for me. As for the performance of this sandwich maker itself I do want to give an accurate review, even though I do not intend to keep it. It makes a delicious sandwich. It is reasonably priced, sturdy and well made. It is easy to clean because it has a non stick surface. Just scrape off any stuck on food and then wipe it clean. It is small and compact and does not take up a lot of space on a counter or in a cabinet. It heats evenly and quickly. And it is very easy to use. I would be happy to keep this and use it daily if I did not already have one that I am happy with. So although I do not intend to keep the one I have, I still recommend it.

An alright machine but IMO a little pointless

4

I haven't had any real problems with this machine. It does what it is supposed to do just fine. It cools sandwiches all the way through nicely. My only issue with this machine is really that it seems kind of pointless to me, and kind of more trouble than it's worth. It was promoted to me a basically a grilled cheese maker and in a sucker so I got one. But really it's easier to just cook up a grilled cheese sandwich in a pan than it is to get the machine out and use it. Also, it's a whole heck of a lot easier to wash a pan. You can't just stick the machine in the dishwasher like you can with the pan. I suppose if you were adding meats and veggies to your sandwich it would make it easier and faster to cook, and I may try that but I'm afraid I'd have the same issue I had with the quesadilla maker, that its hard to lose with too much inside of it. Performance Works fine, but not really as simple as just using a pan on the stove. Durability I've had this for quite some time now and it's still hanging on. EDIT: I recently pulled this old girl out during a kitchen remodel and it workd great after all this time. Definitely a durable little machine! Ease of Cleaning Not as easy as cleaning a pan that's for sure.

Decent

This sandwich maker is not the greatest on the market, but it's not expensive at all, and it serves it purpose fairly well. I use it mostly to make turnovers with bread, fresh fruit, and top with powdered sugar once done. I tried the egg / omelet recipe once and it did NOT turn out well, and I've used it for ham and cheese pocket sandwiches, the cheese usually doesn't leak out. It gets hot fast and mine sometimes will smell a little hot, causing me to think it's going to burn my house down, but I keep a watchful eye on it and it's always been just fine. If you're wanting to make more gourmet sandwiches and need to make more sandwiches at a time, this is probably not the product for you. It's a lot like a George Foreman grill or a waffle iron in the way you clean it, usually just wiping down after use. I do find that sometimes the latch on the front gets a tad bit hot, I've never been burned by it, though, but wanted to note that because I'm not sure if that's a flaw with mine, or if it is normal.

Easy way to make sandwiches better

4

Got this for Christmas and I have to say I really like it. It is easy to use and toasts sandwiches perfectly. My teenage daughter loves to use it too. We make a lot of grilled cheese in this, though I have also done tuna melts. What I really like about it is it is a way to make a toasted sandwich a little healthier. You do not have to use butter on it to get it toasted. My only complaint would be that it does not cut the sandwich really in half as you think it would. Also if you make the sandwich to big it is hard to close and can make a mess. Also be prepared that the sandwiches do come out rather thin. Performance Works great, is a very quick and easy way to toast a sandwich. Durability Mine has lasted a few years now. It is doing great so far. Ease of Cleaning When you are using cheese it can be rather messy and it can be hard to get all the crevices clean. Ease of Use Even my daughter is able to use it with no problem. Very easy to use. Lights will tell you when it is done.

Great for starting out

4

This is a great little inexpensive sandwich maker if your just starting out. I got mine shortly after moving into my first place. I loved it! To me this is the best thing for grilled cheese sandwiches. It not only cooks the outside and melts the cheese just right but it gives you the crunchy edges. I know not everyone likes that but I am one of the few who do. It has a light letting you know when it's preheated and ready for use which is a great thing to have. It also locks when you close the lid which makes it easy to cook your sandwich completely. My one complaint about it would be the difficulty cleaning. if you add to much cheese it will leak out and get into the lower back opening where the hinges are. It becomes almost impossible to clean every bit of food off once it gets in there. You need a bottle cleaner just to get back there and clean everything off as best as possible. The hot plate part of the part though is very easy to clean off, as well as the outer part of the sandwich maker. For such an inexpensive product it really does get the job done. As far as durability goes if you drop it a few times or just one good drop it will break fairly easy. For the price though you really cannot beat it!

Makes Lunch Fun

4

When I was young, an older friend had a sandwich maker similar to this and used to make sandwiches on it when I would go to visit her for the day. I loved it! There's just something about having little triangular pocket sandwiches that is just so fun! Recently I purchased one of these sandwich makers, and have had the fun all over again of making special sandwiches on it! Now I get to share the fun with my niece and nephews too, and they love helping to make special toasted sandwiches. This little machine is very easy to use. Just plug it in and wait for it to heat up while you prepare the sandwiches. Once the light turns green, open the lid, place your sandwich in the marked spaces, close the lid, and waist for it to cook! The light changes again when the sandwich is ready, and you're ready to lift it out, cut it in half and enjoy! Clean up is very simple too! Simply wait for the sandwich maker to cool down then wipe it clean with a paper towel or dish cloth. And feel free to get creative! How about personalize triangle pies? :)

Love this product, Sad it's wearing out!

4

I really love this sandwich maker. It's so easy to use, and I love making sandwiches in it. I have literally used it to the point though that I believe the hinges are wearing out! I am disappointed at how quickly the nonstick wore off, and that is honestly my biggest complaint! But I also can't complain too much when nonstick spray does the trick. My biggest suggestion to them would to be work on the nonstick lasting longer. But overall especially for the price, you really can't beat it. I can have 2 grilled cheese sandwiches ready in less than a minute! Durability I am disappointing in the way the nonstick wore off. Ease of Cleaning Hard once nonstick comes off!

Great for simple sandwiches

4

If you ever are on the run and want a quick sandwich that tastes great, this sandwich maker will make it. I've made grilled cheese, ham and cheese, tuna melts and more. It is very easy to use and browns the sandwiches on both sides. It melts the cheese in the middle and gets the bread nice and toasty. I love how it indents the bread on the diagnals also. I just wish that the sandwich maker did a better job of perferating the sandwich more. I usually try to rip it in half on the indentation line but it never seems to rip on the mark and then sometimes my sandwich insides start falling out, which is never good. Otherwise a great little sandwich maker perfect for college students and moms trying to make a quick bite.

Toastmaster Sandwich Maker makes tasty, toasty sandwiches

3

I am one of those people that gets bored of plain old sandwiches for lunch.  I have really enjoyed having my toastmaster sandwich maker because it brings some variety to what I can do with sandwiches for lunch.  I love the way that the sandwich maker heats the sandwich all the way through verses just toasting the bread on the outside or just the outer contests of the sandwich.  The sandwiches always come out with both sides toasted evenly and the middle warmed to perfection.  I have been using this kitchen appliance for at least 3 years now and I have yet to have a sandwich overcook or be burned.  I do have to make sure that I am not putting too much cheese or any other content that will melt and run out of my sandwich as it cooks, otherwise I have a great melted cheese mess to clean up after my delicious sandwich.  Sometimes the melted cheese that runs out can get stuck in hard to clean places but otherwise this appliance is pretty easy to clean.
