bad customer service

1

I registerd on this website for online training and they had goals to reach where they give you a badge after reaching some specific training. I completed 2 badges and I got one more to go before I got my golden badge and I was surprised for discontinuing the badge process. I contacted the website 3 times since November 2017 and since now APR 2018 I have never got a reply back. I am going to stop taking aourses with universal classes.

Universal Class is Classless

1

Universal Class is a for-profit entity, which means that they do not have to meet any state or national education or accreditation standards. In other words, they can offer whatever courses they wish and charge whatever they wish. KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING! There is a reason that non-profit teaching and learning institutions are a lot more expensive than Universal Class. Sure, they offer "certifications," but these certifications are meritless and not worth the paper on which they are printed.

Suitable courses for a grade schooler only, no certification

Courses short, simple and superficial and obviously not produced by professionals. Everyone could make courses like this from googling the internet!

There great with certificate course and great prices

I just completed the customer service 101 course. The program was thorough and covered everything that they said they did and more. They have this section where they would add on new information about the industry to keep you posted. The best part was my relationship with my instructor who you could ask questions at any time. he responded to all of my questions with much enthusiasm which helps to encouraged me and others to ask more questions. They have a student area where other students who are doing the course with you. I received my certificate which looks beautiful. I am already taking another course. And all courses come with C.E.U.s for collage prep.

Fake prices to encourage membership is the 1st red flag!

UC has some very amusing topics and I was just about to buy a 1 year platinum membership when I realized that the price per course is so high in comparison with a 1 year membershp of just under $189. You can basically do an unlimited amount of courses for the price of roughly 2,5 when you pay per course. It made me question the actual value of these courses and that they might be overpriced to make the platinum memberships look like a HUGE deal. I peeked from my little sister's account at some promising courses hat I was interested in. I was right!! The content suck. She seems to be ok with it because she only left school. Anyone with internet can compile their own curriculum on a topic better than UC can. I don't know about the CEU's that is promised but I don't expect much of that too. Also, almost all eCourses on other sites let you start a course for free and then pay (like some of Courseraá courses) UC doesn't do that because if they will they will probably run out of business.

I Like Universal

4

I take Universal courses both for professional development and as a hobby. First of all, their written lessons at times can lack the detail required to fully understand the topic. Also, their exams are difficult and, at times, unfair. There have been multiple times where I have gotten a test question wrong because I didn't understand the wording of the question. The assignments are all required and can be extremely difficult, depending on the course. The videos supplied with the lessons, when available, are useless. Math practice exercises don't thoroughly prepare you for the exams - too easy. Yet, for professional development, I still recommend Universal because the!y are priced reasonably (a library might supply the courses for you) and are IACET accredited. If you do sign up with them, be prepared to work a lot more hours than what's indicated in the course description.

Journalism Online Course

5

I started an online course in Journalism at Open School of Journalism about 6 months ago. First, I was intimidated by it because I wasn't sure if I had enough discipline. It turned out it was so easy and so much fun to work through course books. The staff and tutors at Open School of Journalism are very nice and helped with any questions I had. I would recommend this school for Journalism courses. I can't wait to graduate and hold a certificate in my hands!
