NOT HAPPY!

1

Water was on top of can when I opened it after a few days. I had to stir it but it never seemed to get too thick like a good paint does. I decided to paint my wainscoting with it and quit halfway and will now go by the other guys brand because it is much better. Also, it is high gloss. If you look at it straight on, I can't see gloss. I can see it from the side at an angle. I primed 2x and would have to put 3 coats of this paint on. I am smarter than that and will quit halfway after the first coat.

Great for home renovations or just for touch ups.

Painted all the bedroom doors, bathroom and front door with this paint when renovating the kitchen and decided that they needed to be freshened up with a lick of paint. It did an adequate job but had to do a few coats as you could see spots of the old paint under the fresh new coat of the Valspar Interior/Exterior High Gloss Paint. I had no choice in the matter of the paint brand or colour since it was my parents' house but I am the one that applied the paint onto the doors. I like the finish look of the paint and when painting the doors it stuck on nicely and was easily to apply, no hassles with the paint being the wrong consistency nor did it slide off the doors. Whenever the doors get a mark or dirt on them from the cats rubbing on the edged corners it is easily to clean off with any household cleaning product as it doesn't allow the dirt to cling onto the paint and it still has that glossy shine to them to this very day.

Peels off!

The Valspar Interior/Exterior High Gloss Paint was an extreme waste of money. I used the paint on my door because it was fading. First when I opened the paint, I could tell something was off. The paint looked super watery and just not like the Behr paint. After I dipped my brush in and placed it on the door, it did not have great coverage and I needed to apply more than three coats! To top it off, after I was finished painting the entire door, the paint just starting peeling and chipping off.

Summarize this product in one sentence.

I have to agree with one of the other ratings. After almost 2 weeks, and doing light sanding between coats on my front door, it was and is still tacky. I then bought Behr Premium Plus High-Gloss Enamel, and that was a disaster. Now it looks like orange peel. Unfortunately it is red paint. I may have to buy a new front door. Quality does not dry Durability just guessing at this one, since it is still tacky after 2 weeks.

Make it easy to make home improvements

I believe that this paint is the best that I have used. We are working on several home improvement projects and I know what paint I will be getting for all of my home improvement projects. We changed green doors to red and they look really good.

My husband and I are restoring an old home and one of the concerns we have been dealing with is lead paint. Recently, my husband used a heat stripper to completely remove all of the old, chipped paint from the baseboard and trim in what will be our son's bedroom so we could replace it with a safer finish. After stripping, he sanded and then primed with Valspar primer then painted with two coats of the high gloss enamel to finish. For the most part, it looked decent but wasn't quite as shiny as we might have liked. He taped off some edges in the closet where the shelves are built into the wall. Immediately upon tape removal, the paint peeled off the trim all the way back to the bare wood in places. Three weeks later when my husband taped off the baseboard to protect them from a sander when he was refinishing the floor, as soon as he pulled the tape, it pulled the paint off the baseboard. In many places, it peeled so badly that the entire 8" baseboard was bare again even though he had only taped the bottom two inches. We use a professional quality paint and don't leave it on longer than recommended. EVERY Valspar paint we have used has had issues with peeling, but because of the spectacular condition of the surface we were painting, the let down factor was even greater than before. I would not recommend this product for anything unless you were one of those kids who liked to let glue dry on your hands so you could peel it off and play with it in kindergarten.

This product? Valspar flunks out.

**Valspar** is a well-rated company, but it's **Interior/Exterior High Gloss Paint** is ***the worst product of anything I've reviewed.***     I put my trust in a long-experienced professional painter who prepares surfaces with patience and thoroughness.  While she and I knew that **Valspar** paints generally rate very well in *Consumer Reports *(this one was ***not rated in CR***) we weren't prepared for the inadequacy of the **Interior/Exterior High Gloss** formula which we bought at *Loewes*.       Despite multiple strainings of the paint, my painter couldn't get rid of the bits of debris which eventually clung to any painted surface.  If that wasn't enough, the paint that is touted by the manufacturer as providing "our most durable and scrubbable enamel" failed to cover on the first coat and wasn't really convincing on the second.     Meanwhile, in Arkansas, a colleague of my painter was having the same experience with **Valspar Interior/Exterior High Gloss** on her house.  This assures me that our own experience wasn't just an anomaly.     NOTE:  For environmental reasons, really effective high-gloss paints have disappeared from the market.  I've noticed in *House Beautiful* and elsewhere that high-gloss paint jobs are often achieved with a flat or semi-gloss coat of paint followed by a coat of what *House Beautiful* calls "lacquer".     Other publications have mentioned "boat paint" as an option for both gloss and durability.     Try those first.  And believe me when I say *anything* is better than this particular **Valspar** product.

The worst, never dry excuse for paint.

Worst paint ever.   Used on sanded, old door.  Paint was tacky after 3 days and peeled like cheap fingernail polish.  Ruined vintage 1940's screen door.  Weather was perfect with low humidity.  Don't ever consider this brand.  Customer help line sucks!
