I have quite an opposite review of Verizon FiOS than the one other person who has reviewed the service. My experience has been fantastic with both customer service and the quality of the service for cable.  We had Comcast and terrible service.  When Internet went out, even if they KNEW it, I had to wait until others in my neighborhood called to complain before Comcast would declare an "outage."  I actually had to go knock on doors asking neighbors if they had service and if not to please call so Comcast would declare an outage. Otherwise they had to schedule a service visit for the next day or two days later. The day FiOS was available here I called, ordered service and I've never been disappointed.  I made sure the cost was at least the same as Comcast for cable.  We actually got many more movie channels and we didn't lose any channels that we had with Comcast and the cost was a few dollars cheaper.  The picture is noticably clearer and brighter.  My children who were upset at me for changing would now never want to go back to Comcast after they saw the extra channels offered and the better picture.I've rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes on the phone for service questions and have had only ONE outage in the past year compared to regular outages with Comcast.I'm sold on FiOS and Verizon. We also switched to FiOS Internet, and phone and no complaints!

Verizon customer service has got to be in the running for worst on the planet. Don't get me wrong, each and every person I have spoken to has been very nice. They apparently are just all utterly incompetent. First of all Verizon has about 600 different numbers. For any issue you have, you run the risk of being transferred or having to call 5,6, 7 different numbers before you have a shot at solving anything. Just getting a person on the phone alone will take a significant investment of time. Every representative will tell you a different story. All with great conviction.

There is no way I can outline all the issues I have had in my short 2 months with Verizon (it took me 4 pages to type it all up to Verizon), but in short I had the installation technician disappear on me without getting my living room TV hooked up. I lose service all the time (my package drops to the most basic service & I have to call to get all my other channels restored), changing the name on my account took 2 technicians coming to the house, 14 calls (numerous hours) and a change in phone number for a period of 4 days. The reason we went through the name change in the first place was to get the "bundle discount" and was done on the suggestion of a representative. In stead of lowering my bill, it has increased my bill by about 75%. After many many many more calls and promised return calls by supervisors which never happened, this has yet to be resolved 3 weeks later.

Comcast is more expensive, but I'm seriously starting to think the customer service is worth the extra money. In terms of picture quality, phone quality & internet speed, I have not been able to detect any difference between the two.

I love them but my wallet doesn't

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

I'm a current customer right bow. I love the service that's been provided but it's just too expensive. I get it. Cost of living goes up each year and prices for everything do as well. I just don't know how much longer I can afford to pay what I'm paying now. We have the phone, cable, and internet bundle. If I remove one or I cut down the number of channels we subscribe to, I'd only be saving about $10 a month.

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

I have Verizon fios just because I want internet and we don't have any options out there! First of all they are too expensive and there service sucks... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't! It's annoying! For the price I pay I shouldn't have this problem! I had the same problem with their cellphone service payed too much money and had no signal until I got tired and cancelled!

Great TV and Iinternet Service; Horrible Customer Service

By

from Bowie, MD

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

Renewed Verizon Fios TV and Internet service for 2 more years in Dec. 2017. First bill received was incorrect. Was told my renewal ordeer didn't go through correctly. Got bill corrected with one phone call, but took 4 more calls for the order to go through correctly. When it did, I lost TV and Internet service, and din't have TV, Internet or home phone (VOIP, but not with Verizon). I was told my order shouldn't have gone through until a technician replaced my ONT (Optical Network Terminal - big circuit board in a box on back of house), which was very old. Had no TV or Internet over New Year's weekend. When tech. came out New Year's Day to replace ONT, he was over an hour late. He asked why I was having the ONt replaced because his records showed I have the latest one. Took him 5 hrs. to replace ONT and get service restored. He said there (still) had been a problem with the order. Also, he left wires exposed from a wiring harness hanging off the end of a new power supply he had to install to get the new ONT to work.
Then, the first bill I got in January 2018 was incorrect. I was charged $4+ for loss of a speed upgrade discount. Only problem is, I had never requested a speed upgrade in the first place.

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

Their service is consistent, very littlw down time. ON DEMAND movies are new and wasy to access. If you do need to call for help on your account, you will be on the phone for aboit an hour and more than likely bpunces from person to person before you are either hung up on or someone can help you

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

I have only had Fios for about 5 weeks. Cable picture quality is good. DVR holds a lot of shows. I believe the value for the $ is not sufficient. I believe in comparison to other kcompetitors in the area that 1-2 movie channels should be included in the package at no additional costs. I do get a discount because of where I work. Internet, however, is where my main complaint is. I was told when I signed up that it would be better than my previous internet provider. This has not been the case. Our wifi signal in the house is not strong and upload/download speeds seem to be slower. I'm not sure I would reccommend.

If you want to keep your number and have a working phone with good insurance yea I recommend. If you are tight on money probably not the best way to go!

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

I am not happy with Verizon FIOS. I've been using their service for years now and I've only had problems. It seems like every month my bill is different then the last and one point it went up so high it was more then my husbands car payment. I finally realized that loyal customers do not receive any type of discount and the only people that do are new customers which seems a little backwards. Every time we call about something it's a fight down to their remote broke but we have to pay for a new one. It doesn't seem like what we're paying for is worth it. They do give you discounts but don't really notify you when they expire and you don't realize it until your next bills goes up $100. I wouldn't recommend them.

Not so happy anymore

By

from Quakertown, PA

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

I've had Fios for a number of years, upgraded a few times as the number of devices in our household increased. Up to now I've been happy with their service and products. Verizon recommends that I upgrade to Fios Quantum TV because m current DVR is almost full. I would really like to upgrade for a number of reasons. BUT I would lose everything recorded on my almost-full DVR as Verizon has no way to transfer recordings from one DVR to another. Looks like my only chance at upgrading will be by finding the time to watch everything recorded before upgrading. And, of course, not recording anything else or I'll never be able to upgrade! I am not pleased at all.

Love Verizon Fios

Comments about Verizon FiOS Cable Service:

I had Vios in the past when living in New York and never had any problems. When we moved out of state, it was unavailable in our new area. I was so disappointed in the provider that we had at that time. We moved again and the first thing we did was get Fios installed. Clear picture, beautiful on my 4K tv, never lose signal or have a service interruption.
