Great dryer!

This dryer works great and quickly! Usually dries a whole load in 30-40 mins compared to other dryers that take as long as an hr or even more. The only real flaw is I have to use dryer sheets otherwise my clothes will have lots of static.

When my old dryer stopped working , I bought this Whirlpool , no frills model at least six years ago by now . For six years, it worked like a champ - it always dried quickly within one dry cycle and the clothes were not a wrinkled mess like my sister complains her dryer leaves them. This is a very basic, budget unit but it has a large capacity and you can easily load an extra large load in it with no problem . The control knobs are basic and straightforward - nothing digital to break which I prefer . Since I only do one big batch a week as I have trouble maneuvering my cellar stairs that was a big plus for me . Now it seems to be slowing down - it takes a long time to dry even though the dryer runs very hot and the lint filter is cleaned out well after each batch . It's still a workhorse so no need for me to replace it at this point ,but it is definitely slowing down its performance with time . When I bought it , the salesman told me appliances do not last nearly as long as they used to but I hoped and may still get, ten years of service out of it . When I do finally have to replace it , Whirlpool will be at the top of my list .

Great dryer for the size and price

I rent, so this dryer was already in my townhouse when I moved in. Usually the ones provided aren't exactly high quality nor do they work all that well. This is the exception. I was actually skeptical to even use it for my clothes because of a bad previous experience so I googled this model and read the pretty favorable reviews. I'm glad we have this dryer in our unit! It really gets the job done without taking forever, it doesn't make a lot of noise, it fits a nice amount of laundry. It would be too small if you have a larger family, but it is perfect for my husband and I. Overall a great dryer that performs well and doesn't cause any issues with clothing. Load Capacity This has a smaller capacity then may out there, but it works perfectly if you are on your own or have a small family. I've never had any issues fitting entire loads in. Performance This performs extremely well. It dries clothes and towels perfectly without overheating them or causing any shrinkage issues. Ease of Use It doens't get much easier then the settings on this dryer. You choose the way you want to set it, put your clothes in (in no particular way) and press the button. Then when you are done, pull your clothes out. Can't get much easier then that. The lint screen is also easy to get out and remove the stuff without making a cloud of lint or leaving a trail. Durability This has been in a townhouse and still works as if it is a brand new machine. Design The design is nice. It fits well into smaller spaces and has a pretty sleek look.

Great device for the price

My aunt recommended this model after she bought one. I highly recommend the purchase. I prefer time over money and this saves me a lot of time so I can do other things. For example if you have a large family where there is a lot of clutter around the house and you have to take time to sort out each item of clothing. What I do is place the larger items in first and then load the smaller items after. This machine works so well that it will overload other devices but this works fantastic!

We moved into our new house about three years ago. We need a new dryer because our old one had served us well. We did a lot of research online and found out that we like the whirlpool WGD4800XQ the best. We purchased this from our favorite home improvement store at a very good price. We installed this dryer in our house and we have never been happier. I can dry two super loads of clothes in half the time our dryer took. This dryer dries your clothes super fast without using a lot of gas. My family loves this dryer because it is simple to use because it does not have fancy useless buttons. This dryer out performs every dryer on the market in my opinion without breaking the bank. I recommend this to everyone that wants a quality dryer without spending a ton of money. Load Capacity This dryer has so much capacity that I can dry two super loads. Performance This dryer dries you clothes in half the time with means you can enjoy you weekend without waiting hours for your clothes to dry. Ease of Use This dryer is so easy to use that everyone in my family can use it. Durability This dryer is built with quality materials that will stand the test of time. Design This dryer has a awesome design because it fits in a small laundry room without the need for extra space.

I love my Whirlpool WGD4800XQ. I've owned it for almost 5 years and have never had any issues with it. I do quite a bit of laundry each week, and my Whirlpool is able to keep up. I clean out the lint filter after each load, which should also help the drying time. It does a great job of effectively drying my clothes and runs relatively quietly. With my cloth diapers, sometimes I have to run it an additional 15 minutes to get the insides fully dry, but with my clothes, including blue jeans and thick towels, they are always dry after one cycle. I appreciate that this machine is not super complicated. The settings are easy to figure out and use. This dryer handles full loads of laundry really well and has the perfect capacity size to match the loads that I wash. To avoid chemicals, I use wool balls instead of dryer sheets. These add loft and reduce drying time as well. Load Capacity Always dries a full wash load. Ease of Use So simple. The settings are easy to figure out. Durability No trouble after 5 years. Design I like that I can switch the way the dryer door opens if needed.

We bought this dryer in sort of a hurry since the one we r previously had stopped working. This dryer did fine for a couple of weeks then I noticed it seemed to take longer and longer for the same effect to be achieved. We kept using it and trying different settings and cleaning the vents repeatedly. None of these processes seemed to help, within about two and a half months the dryer had begun to run just cool air. I didn't bother with trying to have it repaired or replaces as I was disgusted with the entire unit by this time. I must say I was surprised with the failure of this product I have many other Whirlpool products in the past that I was highly satisfied with. I don't think I would ever purchase a dryer of this sort again for any reason or price. Load Capacity Nice load capacity holds plenty with no struggle to run. I have no complaint with the load size abilities of the unit. Performance I found the performance to be very lacking on this dryer it did fine for a few weeks, then became useless for the most part. Ease of Use Very easy to use and set simple vent cleaning, would be a great machine if it had any sort of longevity. Durability I can't say much for the durability of this unit, it didn't last even three months. Design The design of the unit is great, it looks nice and fits in smaller spaces.

Whirlpool WGD4800XQ dryer is a high-end dryer but it has not impressed me. I have this at our cottage and bought it because of the large size. One of the selling features that was pointed out to me more than once was the fact that it has automatic dry to sense when a load is dry consequently saving energy by not running more than it should. To me it almost gets my clothes too dry. I have noticed that they have more static if I use the auto dry which I'm pretty sure is from over drying. I have even tried using 2 softner sheets instead of just one and I still get the static. So I don't really use the energy saving setting and just take the clothes out when I feel they are done. I feel that this saves more energy than the energy setting. I do like the large size because I can do a lot of towels and they dry with no problem. Also I like the fact that there is a light in the drum. This dryer gets used a lot and has been very reliable.

LOVE this dryer!

I have had this dryer since 2008 and not once, EVER, has it stopped working, broken down, or messed up. If you keep it clean, don't over stuff it, it will last you years! The lint trap on top is easy to clean, the inside is easy to reach into (being 9 months pregnant, can you imagine the struggle of trying to load and unload a washer?), does not open randomly and dries completely! We have moved 4 times since buying this dryer and that is not including bringing it home the first time and I have to say it has gotten dropped once and banged and even stayed in a basement that flooded when it rained and this dryer has lasted through it all. Load Capacity Fits my really big comforters and dries them great! Don't over stuff it with clothes and make sure you clean the lint trap for them to dry completely. It does hold a big load! Performance Fantastic! I have never had it break down or at any time stop working. Long lasting! Ease of Use Clean the lint trap, load it up, turn the knob and go! Durability Trust me this thing lasts a long time! It has taken beatings and been in a basement that flooded when it rains. I have a toddler so always doing laundry. It has been worth buying. Design Not pretty but that's its only fault (or mine since I don't like white). Gets the job done!

A good, budget friendly dryer that gets the job done

My husband and I purchased this Whirlpool dryer about three years ago when we moved into a house that was not rented out with a dryer or washer, and knowing we would be moving again soon (thanks to the military), we did not want to spend a fortune on a dryer, so we opted for this Whirlpool model. Mind you, this dryer is not fancy and quite basic, but I am totally fine with that and always say that as long as my clothes are getting dry, I don't have to have all the bells and whistles of more expensive dryers. The setting offered for this dryer are cool down feature, wrinkle guard, and low, medium, and heavy temperature cycles. For a large load, with it set on medium setting (which is the setting I most commonly use), it takes about 45 minutes to dry. I also do like the cool down and wrinkle free tumble at the end of the automatic cycle, which is great if like me, you tend to forget about the laundry in your dryer. Overall, this is a good, basic dryer that should meet most people's needs. Load Capacity You can put quite a lot of clothes in this dryer, and the capacity if quite enough for our family. Performance This basic dryer does get the job done. It is a simpler, more basic dryer but it really does have all the options anyone really should need. Ease of Use Very easy to use, no guess work required, just turn the knobs to the desired setting, done. Durability This dryer is still working just fine and we have not had any issues with anything breaking down after three years. Design This dryer has a simple, intuitive design, nothing fancy. If you want a dryer with bells and whistles, this is not your dryer. If you want a dryer that dries your clothes effectively, then you should consider this affordable dryer.
