My new frig had significant bowing on the sides so that it did not fit well in the opening of a newly designed kitchen.  The frig opening was made according to the specifications provided by Whirlpool.  The contractor had to adjust placement of the countertop to conform to the frig.  It does not have a good appearance.  It was explained to me that the insulation causes the sides to expand.  The manufacturer should decrease the amount of insulation or use an insulation that does not expand. Whirlpool replaced the frig with one having the same problem. This is very disappointing.   Between the frig and the cabinet panel there is 1/8" space at the top, the middle touches the wood, and the bottom has less than 1/8" space.  The frig width should be 35 1/2" fitting into a opening which is 36 1/8". There should at least be 1/2" free space. If you buy this frig make sure you have space beyond what is reccomended or insist on a product with straight sides.
