Not your average baby gate

5

Our playroom has double doors and it was hard to find a baby gate that was wide enough. This gate is great we were able to put it up and just leave it up for long periods of time. I have very short legs but it was short enough that I could easily step over it and big enough that it kept the kids in. The soft netting is great it made it harder for the kids to climb over the gate. We never had a problem with our child climbing over this gate, we had the climbing over issues with other gates but this one was great. I like that it isn't the hard plastic it is less damaging in our door way, has more give to it, and just feels less ridged then the hard plastic gates. Durability We used the gate constantly for a few years in our playroom and it held up great. It's a very durable and tough gate. Ease of Use Very easy to step over and we would rarely take it down. When we did need to get it put back up my husband would always take care of that part. I could never get it put up by myself. Safety We never had any safety issues with the gate. It made our lives so much easier.

love love love this gate.

Love love love this gate! We have some plastic small gates that seem to fall down all the time, not with this gate. We have a large openng between our living room and dining room. This gate adjusts to fit in the opening very well. The gate does not leave marks on the wall. My only concern is with the netting my kids like to push in on the netting, but even with the pushing on the net it does not fall down. It is sturdy and has gone through multiple kids and is still holding up well. Durability Have had it for a long time and multiple kids and it is still in great shape. Had in storage for awhile and the netting on the gate has not gotten ripped, torn or anything. Ease of Use Very easy to adjust to fit the opening. Easy to put up and take down. Safety I have had no problems with safety. It has stayed up when putting it up. Even with the kids leaning in on the netting part, it has still stayed up, has not ripped or torn.

A inexpensive solution to a big problem

I purchased this gate to fit in a doorway in the hopes of keeping a new puppy contained while she was still being housetrained. I didn't want to spend a lot on a gate but still needed something somewhat durable to hold her if she jumped up on it.  It worked beautifully. It was easy and quick to install, took just a few minutes. And she was happy she could see us and I could watch to make sure she wasn't chewing on something that wasn't hers. The gate is a mild color and doesn't look obtrusive in the door which I like.  Stepping over it is a little bit of a  hassle but certainly worthwhile for the purpose that I wanted it for. This gate has a smooth sliding expandable frame that adjusts at the top and bottom. It also has the tension bars that makes it fit tight at te top and bottom.  The good part is it is easy to take down and it folds up so that when we travel I can take the gate with me to use. A great price for a simple solution.  I would recommend this gate.

Waste of money

I can't stress enough how important it is to measure your doorway and check the box to see if this gate fits your doorway. I spent over 30 minutes trying to get it to stay up, but each time I let go the dumb gate would fall to the floor with a simple finger push! It just doesn't extend tightly against the walls like it's suppose to. If you haven't had any experience with baby gates yet...let me warn you about the instructions on most gates....they suck lol...the instructions on this gate were vague...the instructions made me want to pull my hair out though they are more complicated than the gate itself and were probably never tested for ease of following before being published. The confusing part is that for the first step you have to extend the "top" part of the gate out first- a little wider than the actual opening/doorway you are using- this is suppose to provide the pressure needed to keep the whole thing in place....Suppose to being the key word. I am returning this gate. I don't have the time to mess with it.

Evenflo Crosstown Baby Gate is absolutely amazing!

I absolutely adore my Evenflo Crosstown Baby Gate! I came across this baby gate online and had purchased it via the internet and had it shipped to the store I purchased it from. I have yet to find a store that carries this gate in store. Upon installation it was pretty tough to set up, but since then it has been complete bliss. It's also nice you don't have to screw anything in the wall to use this! This baby gate looks stylish and appears like the side of playpen rather than a tack metal contraption. It is also strong enough to hold my eighteen month grand-daughter no matter how much or how hard she pushes herself against the gate. The baby gate is flush up against the wall and stays in place nicely. In addition, it comes with its own carry bag and can be transported. Also, it fits just about any wall opening and can be adjusted as such. I especially love how soft this baby gate as apposed to the hard and awkward gates available on the market. Best of all, this gate is cheap! It costs way less than the other long baby gates and just a little more than the cheapy ones! I just love this gate!

Great Gate for Less

First off, I am one of those types that tries to install something first and looks at the instructions later. Let me say that it is highly recommended that you review the instructions first. As this was the first baby gate I have ever dealt with, it took me a little extra time to get it setup completely. However, this gate has been great now that I know how to set it up properly.  We wanted something that didn't involve installing brackets of any sort as our baseboards are thicker so any mounting would have been a challenge without purchasing additional lumber. We also wanted something portable so we could use it in multiple locations and this gate has fit all of those needs. It does leave some rub marks on the wall over a period of time but compared to holes in the wall from mounting brackets, I will take a couple of round rub marks any day. The price we paid was also decent and was considerably less than most other pressure mounted gates as well as the bracket mounted gates.

Perfect for a larger space.

The Evenflo Soft and Wide gate is a perfect safety gate for a larger doorway or hallway.  It is 27" tall and it expands from 38" to 60" wide and because it is made of fabric, you don't have a bunch of bars or extension pieces to worry about.  We bought this gate to put in our hallway which leads to an open foyer.  We had no way to put a gate at the bottom of the stairs, so this was the next best option so the child couldn't even get to the stairs.  We have been very happy with its performance.  It was very easy to install - you just twist the ends of the gate until you get it to fit tightly against each wall.  Plus, if you have uneven walls or are installing the bottom rail on the baseboards, it's nice because the top and bottom rails adjust independently.  We have noticed when taking it down on occasion, that it leaves a bit of a mark on the wall, but it's not all that noticeable.  For us, this gate does the job intended and we've been very happy with it.

Good portable gate

This is a pretty good baby gate. We bought one when my son started crawling, and it was handy to have around. We used it in different parts of the house, as well as when we visited his grandmas' houses. It was nice to have a gate that wasn't permanently installed -- we could remove it when we had company over or when we needed to go back and forth in certain areas of the house. I liked having a gate we could take anywhere with us also -- it made it much nicer for grandma's house visits, and kept my mind at ease when I left my baby at their houses -- knowing he'd be protected from off-limit areas as well as when he was at home. The only bad thing about this gate is that because it is "soft", it stretched out a bit. When my son was old enough to pull himself and stand with help, he started to "climb" on the gate, and pushed the fabric out enough that it stretched it. The fabric never tore, though, so I count that as only a minor inconvenience.

Wonderful for large openings.

We have a very large opening in our house that leads to where the stairs are.  We did not use this on the stairs, but near the stairs.  I looked everywhere for something to fit, and ended up ordering this.  Since we did not use the opening very often, it worked wonderfully for the space.  It adjusts seperately on the top and bottom, so it fit very snug even with the trim that the bottom part hit.  It was close to the ground, and it was very sturdy.  Some children who were visiting even climbed over the thing and it did not fall over.  Of course, we discouraged that, but it was comforting to know that it wouldn't fall over if it happened!  We did not use this traveling, but it does fold up nicely and would be easy to travel with.  The fabric was easy to wipe down.  I gave it four stars because it's great to leave in place and never take down, but a bit of a pain if you were inclined to take it down, and a bit tall for stepping over on a regular basis.  Overall it suited our needs and it has been well used, but still in great shape.

Great product to keep baby safe at home or travel!

The Evenflo Crosstown Soft Portable Travel Gate is a fabulous product to own is you have children and/or pets and stairs or other areas you need to protect little ones from falls or dangerous access.  This Gate is very portable and fits into the back of my small car.  I can take it with me to picnics at family members houses or to a babysitter's residence.  It is extremely portable and can be given to others to use for your child with very little direction...aka grandparents :-)  This gate can also be used with older children if you are working on a home maintenance project, such as painting and you want to be sure that the child/pet does not have access to areas with wet pain, varnish or even just freshly scrubbed drying floors.  I have used this gate to keep baby from falling down the stairs in my bi-level home and since my child has grown up, have since passed it on to another family in need.****
