Our home has multiple Samsung window Air Conditioning units, and each has been reliable and done the job at keeping us comfortable.  Their designs are well thought out, with plenty of control options that are easily set.  These bigger units are not easily installed, but once in place, they are easily maintained with little effort.  Since we live in a mobile home, located in Arizona, one can imagine the stress any air conditioning unit will endure during our summers.  But both this large Samsung unit, as well as our smaller unit, both keep up with the demands of making life bearable in the desert.  I would highly recommend any Samsung unit if someone is looking for value, as they're not the least expensive units on the market, but will save replacement, and maintaince costs in the long run.  The electical usage is high on these larger units, but they cool a room down quickly, so a large unit may actually save a person money.  The single drawback is the fan noise, but all units seem to have that drawback, and I believe the Samsung is as good as the best of them.

The Samsung line of AC is quite good.  If you take a look inside this unit you will see copper coil tubing.  This is more expensive and is not used by most manufacturers.  I have had the unit for one year and it does very well in a hot and humid environment (New Orleans, LA).  It is energy efficient and fairly quiet.  Installation was easy but does require two people.  The settings are easy to understand and the remote comes in handy if you are on the other side of the room and want to adjust the functions.  It does have a dehumidifier function that is not found on many other brands. Before you buy a room ac unit, give the Samsung brand a look
